    That someone is me .
Just an update about it. Recently I took the bike for testing on highway & was successful in attaining a speedo indicated top speed of 120 kmph . All this was in just a stretch of 4-5 kms with medium crosswinds & semi-crouched riding position. The bike easily revs till 10k rpm in every gear now.

my Gladiator (SS125 type) is 5 months old.. bought it on 4th june 2012.

everything is fine but just few problems i have observed with my bike.

3 services are done. nest service due in the month of November.

following are the problems i have observed from day one.

    1) My mileage is really very low. 42km/ltr(i checked it thrice). i daily ride for 20 km. 50% in cut to cut traffic and other 50 at normal speed. service centre guy say it will improve eventually. i dont think so.
    2) there is some problem with engine. when i keep it idling the engine is not running at a fixed speed. its continuously changing speed... running is not rhythmic. suppose if i hold it at particular rpm (Say 3000) there is a sound coming from engine as if engine has misses the beat. i mean to say is its not running at synchronised speed. theres sound of "thup thup" after some intervals when kept at constant rpm.

above two problems i have been observing from day one. no one knows anything about it at service centrer.

    3) this problem i have been experiencing since last two days. my throttle response has become really laggy.. earlier my bike was fun to drive...but since two days am not able to overtake anyone, engines response is not up to the mark as it used to be before. it worsens when riding with pillion. even when i put more throttle engine just makes noise as i dont see much improvement in the speed and torque.

kindly help me with this. sorry for bad english
    2) I guess that is phat phat sound & not thup thup. Its normal.

    3) Get your carburettor & spark plug cleaned. That should rectify your issue.

    Sorry for my bad english.
I dont think my friend will agree for any engine mod because it is new and will void warenty...so i think sprocketing is the option left...anyway thanks a lot guys for your response...

You can also try tweaking the head a little bit from someone who knows his stuff which will improve compression or You can try jetting as well. I would leave this to the seniors for them to comment.

PS: You can post Your query under help me section for better visibility and You can get inputs from everybody and not just from the owners.

Your friend should have done some research before buying the bike. If low end torque was so important to him, he could have gone for something like a Honda Stunner instead which has a good low end torque but poor top end performance (because of vibrations)

Low end torque has never been the Gladiator's forte. However, it compensates for this drawback remarkably in the top end department. The SS125 revs nicely and is absolutely vibration free at high speeds. One can comfortably cruise on the SS125 at 70 Kmph which is not so comfortable on other 125cc bikes due to the vibrations.

One can go for a sprocketing mod to improve the low end torque but don't expect too much. If he decides to go for it, look for either a smaller front sprocket or a larger rear sprocket. Both will help improve the low end torque. But one should be careful with the sprocketing mods as it might overload the engine. Also, there may be a slight increase in fuel efficiency (not mandatory). Finding a matching sprocket may be a challenge though.

    Hi All,
I restored my Gadi recently. Changed the block-piston kit, carburrator, valves and other items. It cost me around 15000/- rupees. I find the original handle bar setting perfect, but do experience sticky gear shifts in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gears at times. May be someone who owns the Gladi for a long time can throw some light on this issue.

Problem.. shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear.
after riding for say 10 kms, I face this problem of gear shifting.. The bike tends to get stuck in the neutral.. Does anyone face this problem/??
How can this be rectified??? The 'butter smoothness' that the gears initially had, are almost gone..

I have read about rusting problems in some pages of the same thread. Do you suggest me to apply some anti-rust sprays and oils to prevent it. Or has the problem been rectified in the newer version(SS 125).

Thirdly, a lot of friends are recommending to get the bike teflon coated or wax coated. They dont know the difference between the two. So anyone knows? And is it worth spending???
I ride almost 25 Km daily and never had any palm ache problems. My bike is only 6 months old so haven't had any rusting problems till now. If you notice any rusting on your bike then you can go for the anti rust coating.

Never heard of wax coating the bike, although there are many wax polish available in the market which you can use after washing your bike. In my opinion, teflon coating is useless...it comes off in six months or so...

Odometer reading -560 km(First service over). Although there are no major problems, the engine seems to get hot easily. I can feel the heat at my legs even after short rides of 8-10 kms. I reported this to the service center during first service. He said that it is common as the bike has not run much and the problem will fade out after 1000-1500 kms.

I have not noticed any major difference in the bike's performance or behavior after first service except that there are lesser vibes now. I would like to know what is done to the bike during first service. On the reciept, they just mentioned a oil change (Gulf oil) which costed 230/-. I doubt whether the servicing is done properly...
Congratulations on your ride, and welcome to the group!

Any new bike will get hot till the engine was worn out to it's operating smoothness. I really don't think that's a reason to worry. You should wait till you complete your 2nd service. If the engine still heats up, you need to check your AFR and other things.

Yamaha SC topping up with Gulf? Wow, that's a news!! They flatly refuse to use anything other than Yamalube!!!

The only major change done in your 1st service is an oil & oilfilter change. All other tasks are minor - such as cleaning/lubrication of all parts and adjustments.

So I thought of using a split bar.
The Gladiator's seat is not suitable for an R15 like stance...if you lower the handle bars, you might develop back ache very quickly while riding long distances and even in city traffic I suppose...

So be aware of what you do with the handle bars...

I'm 5'8" and don't find any issues with the Gladiator's seating position..

I find the original bars very comfortable.

If you must change the handle bars, I'm sure thre would be many people around who would have done that to the Gladiator. Search for that in the previous posts.
