Apart from that long ride he has done many more long rides and his odometer reads 90k + till today :P and he even won 1st place on his gladiator on Coimbatore track when a race was conducted with other Gladiators . I was going to suggest that. What's the point in discussion about the CBR in the Gladiator thread? People who actually want to know about the CBR will miss whatever you have to say and the gladiator owners aren't getting any useful information either.

It's best to discuss things in their proper places. My 2 cents.

Well...sometimes you gotta move on. The CBR was about 50K above my budget but that had always been my dream...so had to sell the Gladi, though I still miss it badly. But again, I am on the wrong side of 90kgs and the Gladi was fine if I rode solo, but used to badly struggle to pull if I had a pillion with me.


I usually maintained 70 coz that gave best FE on highways. Pushing it to 80 dropped my FE slightly and sustained running at 100+ drops the Glady's FE to a pathetic 30kpl. Mostly I used to touch 100 on certain occasions but rolled back to 70-80kph. But one crazy Sunday morning, I decided to test the limits - and I did a constant 100kph run from Bangalore to Krishnagiri.


Wow...I didn't know all that while I had my Glady with me...I am still hanging around on this thread even today coz of my emotional attachment to the RS and I love to see you all discussing about the Glady/SS125 and revel in past memories

I wish u should have not sold ur glady :P On highways i cruise most of the time at 80-90 kmph maintaing 80 kmph constant while overtaking i do 90 kmph. I never checked my FE on my Glady on highways coz as my speeds are varying i never felt that i would get a correct result even if i check. In city if i maintain 60 kmph and do gear shifts.

@sandeep...dude, let's shift the discussion to the CBR thread...other Gladi owners will kill me for baptising this thread :P

Jokes apart...even the CBR faces a lot of windblast...but it's only on the face and not on chest/body. I feel most comfortable while cruising at 90kph...it's very much relaxed, it's not very slow and it maintains optimal FE too.I am planning for a zero gravity touring windscreen...but that has to wait as I have some other commitments.

BTW what's your cruising speed on the Gladi? I used to cruise at 70-80kph @ 6500-7000rpm...

Thanks for answering all my questions dude ..... Well even not a fan of street fighters. Coz on highways we ll get stressed a lot by the windblast while doing long rides. I feel CBR would be very stable at such speeds and we can escape from wind blast if we can bend down a bit and hide behind the windscreen .

doing 100kmph at 6100rpm is also very good na . we can get good fuel efficiency

Sandeep, I will try to answer all your questions...

City: 28 to 29kmpl, highways 32 to 35 kmpl. I have the ABS model.

Relaxed cruising (80-100kmph) returns a consistent 34-36kpl. If I push it to 115-120, FE does drop a bit..maybe 2-3 kpl, not much. Haven't tested FE beyond 130kph, coz i never got any chance to exceed 130+ speed for more than 1-2 minutes max. Top speed clocked till date - 138kph with still juice left for more.

CBR on 6th gear:
4000RPM: 65 kph
5000RPM: 80 kph
6100RPM: 100 kph
7200RPM: 120 kph

I am not really a fan of streetfighters. I'd rather wait for CBR500
Generally speaking, the 390 is an amazing machine and it's not surprising that D390 can do 100 kph at 5000 rpm. But the windblast would be too strong to enjoy the ride and your helmet (and neck) would be tossed around by the turbulence. I have encountered very bad windblasts on the CBR at 110+ on wide open roads.
Again, keeping in view the streetfighter stance, the Duke is too light for it's power output - which makes it unstable at high speeds, and most newbies would chicken out at 110-120.

So what is the mileage that you are getting on ur CBR 250R !! is ur bike ABS or STD ?

Mileage that you are getting when u rev it hard and cruise at 120kmph or above
and the mileage when u cruise @ 100kmph
and when cruising < 100kmph.... and what do u think about DUKE390 !! i read some reviews so far people are saying that it can do 100kmph @5k rpm in 6th gear and 120kmph @ 6500rpm in 6th gear. How about a CBR 250R !!

All the best Sandeep for the CBR...I sold my Gladi for 30K, but yes, I do miss it at times...especially when I want something like a light easyrider and when I travel to places where I can't take the CBR (crowded markets, veggie shopping, places where parking the CBR is potentially unsafe)

Oh, even am planning for CBR 250R ( 2013 model which is yet to be launched ) but i don't want to sell my Glady :P

by the way for much much did u sold ur Gladiator RS for ??

Thats great to know...maybe I didn't feel the performance gain due to the heavier Monster tyres.
Haven't got the Gladi with me anymore...sold her in Jan to fulfil my CBR dreams...but boy...she was damn good, I still miss her!

Oh i have shelled out NGK Irridium for 520rupees. Am experiencing a lot of change in its power delivery especially at higher rpm ( above 6k ). Before i used to get a lot of grunt sound if i rev it till 8k rpm in 2nd,3rd,4th gears but now engine feels a lot smoother even at 8k rev in 2,3,4th gears..

If you still got ur Gladi RS check it out.

I did shell out the 500-odd bucks for an NGK iridium last year, but didn't notice any performance gain.

Installed NGK Irridium Spark Plug in my Gladiator RS. Its working really awesome, especially at high rpm.
