Ironically, my back is aching since last Thursday, but I am sure that is not because of the bike. The roads are a nightmare to drive since after the phenomenal rain (Chennai, Nov 25 - Dec 2). The 20 to 21km ride used to take around 50 minutes. Now it takes 70 to 90 minutes.

[b]That says volume about the comfort that our bikes give. I am not sure if Saluto can give the same level of comfort.[b]Originally posted by krishna77 View Post

Re: Yamaha Gladiator(All)
Has anyone changed the engine oil from stock Yamalube to anything else?
Yamalube is doing fine till now but I want to try other options as well.
P.S. Recently went to the Sunderbans with my mother as pillion covering more than 210 km.s in a day(at least 110 km.s of which are in worst condition). She has liked the pillion comfort so much that now she refuses to go by train and bus. That says a lot about the comfort a Gladiator offers!Last edited by krishna77; 01-06-2016, 03:22 PM.

Thank you bobisbacktorock and DccetOriginally posted by Dccet View PostMany happy returns and Congratulations on the occasion.
On a different note please consider changing the wheels asap : Its outright risky to run on a rubber that's 55K old now that you have additional responsibility and safety to look after.
Yes, I have changed those tyres with same respective tyres

Change the tubes and the issue should vanish. Sometimes its not possible to rectify faults in the tire & rim by naked eyes.Originally posted by lywyre View PostThat is sad. I don't think the Saluto can take this place with just 4 gears and no disc brake. The lack of 5th gear will be missed in the long rides and the disc brake in the city rides.
Edit: Also the fuel capacity is considerably low. Hope the claimed fuel efficiency is close in real life utility.
After 3 years and 5 months my SS125 has clocked 55000 kms at >52kmpl. Still on stock tubes and tyres (with a puncture on each), have to change them soon. Have to change the speedo unit: the error margin in odo is too large. After my last punctur), the front wheel is jumping. Checked the tyre, but can't find any bumps.

Thogh the Saluto is all set to take the SS125's place and is well capable of doing so, the light weight and low power figures of the Saluto does not make many people comfortable. Specially who want to take long rides on a lower capacity bike. But, the Gladiator/SS125 will retain a special place for people who have a little idea about this bike. Feeling sad as a proud SS125 owner!

Re: Yamaha Gladiator(All)
krishna77 : I cant seem to find a good Yamaha mechanic in my area. Service Centre guys are not agreeing that bike is really vibrating as they really cant feel the vibration @ 60 Kmph and there are not roads to push it beyond that... Adjusting tappet will take a lot of their time so they are not willing to go that way. Air to fuel ratio seems to be right as my bike doesn't really deliver anything above 50 Kmpl in city and 45 kmpl on highways. Spark plug seems ok to service centre guys but I am still going to change it from a Bosch as you suggested this weekend.
I may appear reluctant to follow your advice but as I have been busy with my households and office so cant get time to do follow-up on the modifications suggested.
Can someone in this forum suggest me a good Yamaha Mechanic in South Delhi?

2. How to check Air fuel ration?
3. Oil Change is done periodically @ Yamaha Service Centre only.
4. I am not sure what tappet is? Wheel Alignment issue is there. The front rim has a minor bend.
Tappet is located between the engine and the valve cover. Check this thread out:
Tappet Adjustment |Life On 2-Wheels
As far as air fuel ratio is concerned, please ensure that it is not set too lean to increase fuel economy. Give every bike the amount of fuel it deserves. Having a very lean afr would mean you are keeping your machine thirsty and at the same time expecting optimal performance. This thread can be helpful:
Air/Fuel Ratio tuning:Rich vs Lean | Turbobygarrett
Go to an experienced mechanic and stand in front of him till the job is done.

Thanks for responding...Originally posted by krishna77 View PostSS125 is not supposed to vibe. There must be something wrong. Check the following:
1. Check the spark plug(if necessary, change it - preferably with Bosch).
2. Check the air-fuel ratio.
3. Did you change the engine oil? If not, change with Yamalube.
4. Check the tappet and wheel alignment.
Hope this helps.
