Seems the clutch cable needs replacement. Also, check out the spark plug.

Re: Yamaha Gladiator Drive chain replacement

hi earlier i have said a problem in Yamaha ss125 (2008) model. problem is my bike stalls at rain. I have checked recommendations like checking spark plug/cap/wire for water and air filter side - replaced with new one did not find any wet signs.

I thought my problem exists in rain.. but when ride my bike through a half feet depth water it stalls like no fuel/main-reserve... after 5 or 10 mins it is starting again & running normal...

I remember when i ask mechanic to check alternator for low head light power, he removed alternator cover, replaced gasket. After this only i am facing the stalling problem. Whether water entering through miss aligned gasket (may be) and spilling on alternator? also i would like to know what happens when water spills on alternator?

Buy an original and replace the chain. Never go the chain cutting road except in emergencies, not a long term solution.

Sorry, my bad. It was to be 2500 INR. One friend of mine got @ 2.5K(as I was informed) from a non-YAMAHA garage. Not sure about the actual price. You can check out from this link:

Add the service charge and you will get an approximate idea.
Again sorry if I've misinformed you unintentionally. Hope you get the correct unit at the correct price.

I am not sure should i trust the mechanic, i feel like checking the total wiring? Another issue, it doesn't idle good, i need to open the throttle to keep the bike started (carburetor tuned and idle screws adjusted)

    Any suggestions?

I had to replace sproket of my SS125 at 14k km.. It was wobbling a bit and teeth were worn out... it could have been used for a few thousand kms more, but i got it replaced since i drive on longer trails and couldnot afford a breakdown in the middle of road with no garage in the visinity...

It got worn out because i had been driving in rough muddy or dusty roads all the time...

However in your case of you are taking good care of it and if on inspection you dont find any wear n tear of teeth, and if you don't feel any abnormal noise from it, you can still use it for another 5k to 10k kms...

Just be careful.. because if it is worn out, it can give you nightmare in the middle of a long ride....

    Happy riding...

Yes, that might be the case with my bike I guess. the area I ride through is very muddy during monsoon and during other seasons, I have to negotiate a lot of potholes and dust. Road condition in Kolkata - if you witness, you'll come to know!
Thanks for the reply. I'll change the chain sprockets in the next servicing - due this month.
