You won't need to open the speedometer entirely. After removing the headlamp fairing, you will need to remove a couple of nuts securing the lower cover of the speedo console assembly. Once you oven the lower cover, you can pull out the bulb holder and replace the bulbs.

Not recommended to do it all by yourself, especially if you have no prior experience in opening the headlamp Assy.

Brightness increases about 1.5x, not too much of a drastic change. The biggest plus is the cool look. You can try Red/Blue LEDs to match the color of your bike...they will look way cooler!

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

May be its 1.5x in your case as gladiator speedo glow is ok but sz-r's speedo glow is poor. so i guess it will be minimum 3x in case of sz-r. default color of my speedo is red with white base and tachometer color is pale white with black base...I think blue will look good on speedometer and pure white on tachometer...

AFAIK the Gladiator uses regular bulbs for illumination but the SZ-R uses board-mounted LEDs. Need to check with my bro, not really sure.

Edit: just checked with my bro - SZ-R uses the same T10 bulbs as used by the Gladiator.
Think about it - They are using the same bulbs, so if LEDs can achieve a 1.5x gain in the Gladi, the results will be same in case of SZR too.

why would the fuse blow off for a lower load? LEDs have lower consumption compared to traditional bulbs.

Hi Guys.. I need your help regarding sprockets..
The rear sprockets of my gladiator has worn out and it is due for a change. As we all know that Gladiator does not have a great low end torque, I was thinking if I could replace it with pulsar 220's sprocket instead. Will it be a great idea to do so??

Rakesh, The Gladiator has a 41T rear sprocket and the P220 as a 36T, if I am not mistaken. Going for a lesser tooth will increase the speed at a particular RPM while lowering the power. You need to do the reverse - a 42T or 43T would improve pickup, but will cause a drop in top speed.

I normally ride at 60-70 kmph. Will the top speed come down to 70s???

It's recommended not to oversize by 3-4 teech. Listing some sprocket counts here for your reference.

Apache RTR180: 46T
HH CBZ Classic: 46T
Apache RTR160: 44T
Pulsar 150 Classic: 44T
Pulsar 180 UG3: 43T
KTM Duke 200: 43T
Honda Unicorn: 43T
Yamaha R15 : 42T

I am not sure which of these are compatible with the Gladiator but a 43T should serve you perfectly fine, with top speed dropping from 105 to 90kph maybe, but ~10% improvement in acceleration. 44T will give even better acceleration, but top end dropping to ~80. The actual calculation is a bit complicated, and I'm no Einstein :P !

The advantage would definitely be better pickup but be warned that the rice in acceleration will also affect your FE and engine smoothness. E.g., if you used to ride at 60kph @ 5000 RPM on stock sprockets, it will now drop to ~52kph at 5000 RPM - hence, your bike will feel more strained at the same speed than before.

OMG!!! Then I guess its better not to experiment.. What you say?/

More over, whenever I apply my front brakes, the bike turn to the right before stopping.. donno kno y..
One more thing is that I want to change my console lights to LED lamps.. As you have said, you used 9 SMD T10 LEDs.. But are they direct fit or do I need to change something??/
I dont have any idea regarding this..

Rakesh.M to be honest, the call is entirely up to you. I personally never felt that find the pickup was poor when riding solo, but it was pathetic with a pillion. There are some old members here who have experimented with their Gladiators, but many of them have gone dormant now

Looks like a fork bend or a loose coneset. Have your forks and coneset examined.

They are a direct fit - you just have to open the assembly and plug them in. Just make sure you get the types shown here. Regardless of whatever the shop guys say, the bigger ones will lead to poor illumination, as most of the light will spread out to the sides instead of illuminating the surface of the console. See example below - all of them are T10 LEDs and can fir the standard holders, but their spread of illumination will be different.

The "right" type of LEDs

correct me if I am wrong but according to me T 10 8 SMD LED (2nd picture with grey background ) will give better illumination than T 10 4 SMD (1st picture) as its focus is towards dials only. so its better to go with second option rather than going for 1st
