emzee Did you try looking for ss125 shocks? All Yamaha bikes use Gabriel shocks so you can check the rating of your stock ones and check with any Gabriel dealer about the same.

I did not specifically ask for SS 125 shocks. I asked for Gladiator's and they said they don't have them in stock. I'll check with them tomorrow. BTW how do i check the rating of the shock absorbers?

Also, After the recent service, My bike is kind of acting weird. Whenever I twist the throttle after upshifting, The bike is misfiring and I am losing the acceleration drastically. I changed the spark plug as well but still the issue exists. Anybody faced a similar issue? Please help as the fuel efficiency has gone low.

Regards,

day before yesterday got my bike serviced and yesterday i took it for some 100 kms ride and in middle of trip i found that engine is not performing in top end and it was looking very stressed at 70 kmh and earlier i used to easily cruise at 80-85 kmph so checked the Afr found that those guys has made my Afr lean the screw was at 1.5 from fully closed considering 360 degree = 1 turn. Now i turned it at 3 turns from fully closed.

Hi Guys,

I own "SS 125" and I am facing issue regarding Fuel Efficiency. Currently Fuel efficiency is 42 KMPL. I have taken the bike to authorized service center and they seems to be doing "Regular setting" change which of course is not doing the trick. When problem persisted even after setting changed for fuel efficiency they have suggested me to change "Filter" which might be choke up due to which fuel efficiency might be low.

I am bit in dilemma because my father own Yamaha Crux and he have 20000 km on his odometer and he haven't changed the filter and my bike have run only 9200 km and they are asking to change filter. I do not want to try every trick that is on the card to get things straight. it would be great if I find right solution with proper reasoning and this place is perfect for my solving my query.

Hoping to get your feedback

Cheers!!!

All bikes need an air filter replacement periodically. The interval of replacement varies from 10000kms to 15000kms and depends on the environment where the bike is operated. Dusty/damp environment clogs the filter sooner and needs more frequent replacement.

It won't affect your mileage significantly - you can expect a gain of 3-5kpl at most, but your bike's performance would surely show improvement. A mileage of 40-45 is common for most Gladiators, in spite of being 125cc. I too lived with similar mileage figures (worst 29, best 52) during my ownership period

Thanks buddy for the information. Earlier (about 2 months ago), fuel efficiency was around 55 kmpl and now it have reduced significantly. That is why I am bit worried about how this could have happened. Since I do have much knowledge about technical stuff I am not able to justify this behavior. And as you can guess, Guys at Authorized earlier workshop do not give any answer. Could you help me out with possibility because of which FE have reduced significantly?

hi guyz. i just got my yamaha ss125 3 months ago . it completely dissapointing me. i buyed it by seeing good reviews in many sites, but it is not up to the mark. i am facing many problems such as mileage(its just 37 to 40),engine keech noise, low end torque is damn poor and also the after sale service is a complet shit in my area. i am completely fed up. i do know how most of them says that it gives 55kmpl. I am of no idea what to do know. when i bought this bike there were lot of opposition with my family members . but inspite of that i bought this bike. now i am suffering daily.

Hello Gladiators ....

I am a proud owener of yamaha gladiator type SS for last 3 years & have clocked 32000 km so for as per the ODO, i am haing a problem with my bike that for last 8-10 days i am able to distibguish a differet sound coming from engine while starting the bike .... the noise is very high from rpm upto 1000-2000 ,after that it subsides.... (as you ride on the bike u become the part of the system hence could not listen that noise)... cold engine make louder noise ( that special noise , originated by engine ) .... i got it checked at YFS, pune the mechanic has checked clutch plate , starter clutch , etc, the engine is not opened till yet , the supervisor says its the bearing of the crankshaft that is making the noise ( booonnnn ...... booonnnnn ..... ) .....the total estimate of the work is around 8000INR, which is too high ...

so just to investigate & cross check the actual issue i got it checked with another yamaha dealer here in pune , he said that he has attened the sam issue for 2-3 yamaha gladiator bike with the same problem......& nothing is fault with ht eengine crankshaft bearing... the problem is actually the magnetic coil which charges the battery.... he said he will rectify the problem completly ....... the estimate of the work would be around 3000INR.

i do not know that any of them will actually get over the issue or not .... ????

hence i want to know that if any gladdy owner had the same experience .... or i am the only one ...... to whom should i believe..... in this case

please drop a mail to contact me on "[email protected] or reply here only.... if you wish....

Sudhansu...Exactly what kind of sound are you getting? I had a similar issue with my gladi last year...racked my brains and visited some 5-6 mechanics but so solution...finally one guy suspected a valve clearance issue and adjusted the valves...it ran fine after that. Maybe you could try the same.

@ bbsrailfan :- the nosie is very harsh in listening, although mechanic of YFS says no need to change the crankshaft ( along with bearing) he is not sure that the noise orgin is what ?

i asked him to check the tappet clerance but it is okay ..... ( i have gone through the same issue of tappet clerance which is rectified by a very experienced mechanic in indore)

but this noise is not like that ..... lets see how else has ever had the same issue... the bike is butter smooth but this problem is worrying me....

is there anyone who can guide for the issue.....

Hello Guys!!!

I have a 2009 Gladiator SS and I have done 65000+ Kms on it and for sometime now my gladi is actually showing the strain on its engine, gear box, shocks etc.
Very soon I will be getting it serviced and I just want to have a checklist of all additional works, like a possible list of spares to be replaced ( Spark Plugs etc) and
how can I in general push it towards a 1L Kms on the ODO without having to feel its time for me to sell it ( I really dont want to sell it ).

Also a couple of things:
1) I have been using Michelin Street Sirac for about 700 Kms and its doing a good job, but my issue is that the stock MRFs that Yamaha gives isn't 100/90 at the rear.
So If I have to change my tires in about 10K Kms then can I continue with another set of Michelins which are doing a fine job or do I need to revert back to the MRFs ?
With Michelins I have good feeling in the street, I usually brake late and hard so I depend a lot of my tires...even in rain its been really good...so a little hesitant to switch to MRFs
with which I practically suffered in the beginning. Please give me an insight into how this bigger Michelin rear tire can affect, and by that I dont mean Mileage, its not my concern.
I am happy with 40kmpl Im getting now...just want to know if it can affect the swing arm positioning and all.

2) I have a K&N RC-1060 Universal Air-filter. I am facing a dilemma here. I want to use it and give it a go, but uptill now I am perfectly happy with the stock air-filters from Yamaha.
I know a bit of stuff with the Up-jetting and all. Just wanted to know if anybody here has tried K&N before and if they can kindly give their thoughts it'll be useful.
And I'm Hoping if somebody can tell me stock jet size in gladi and what is the recommended jet size for up-jetting.

Cheers Guys!!!
