Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hmm, I've heard some FZ v2 producing this sound. Not all of them do that though. Perhaps it's related to the valve clearances/CCT/oil.Originally posted by truelypulsarian View PostThe fz 2.0 engine is noisy when it becomes hot. Seen many bikes with this issue.

The fz 2.0 engine is noisy when it becomes hot. Seen many bikes with this issue.Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostThis sound is normal in the FZ25. It's an inherent characteristic of the engine. We just aren't used to getting such sounds from our Unicorns/Pulsars/Splendors, etc.
The same sound exists in the Fazer 250 (Brazil)/XT250/XTZ250/XT225/Serow 250, which have similar/same engines.
However, it's not normal in the 150cc FZ range.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
On the FZ25 it is expected and is normal. There's not much of a relation between the FZ25 and FZ v3 engines, they're built very differently.Originally posted by vanp View Postwhen i saw the fz25 forum and members mentioning the coin rattling sound.. i immediately related my issue with it.. it exactly sounds like a coin is rattling inside the engine.. the sound is very low when engine is cold.. but as soon as it gets heated the sound increases.. and is higher in upper rpms.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I have heard complaints from only the 2018 fz and now 2019 fz v3 owners.. check these vids:-Originally posted by Shashank K R View PostThis sound is normal in the FZ25. this guy uprgraded to the 300v after getting fed up of overheating engine, hard gear shifts and in his words "kirrr kirrr" sound from the engine.. he has the 2018 v2.. same as mine
2. https://youtu.be/7-zMMMuAN5k
he has the v3 and same issue described by him.. video reported here by fellow member #bpk
previously i wasnt able to describe the sound.. i named it "trrr trrr".. but when i saw the fz25 forum and members mentioning the coin rattling sound.. i immediately related my issue with it.. it exactly sounds like a coin is rattling inside the engine.. the sound is very low when engine is cold.. but as soon as it gets heated the sound increases.. and is higher in upper rpms..
i also closely listened to some videos where a user has shown the coin rattling sound in his fz25.. mine sounds exactly the same.. example:-

thanks bro.. I'll give it a try then..Originally posted by S3maphor3 View PostYes. If you succeed in getting a confirmation in this regard over e mail from customer care. Price wise even 7100 is highly priced and probably overkill for a meagre engine like fz so anything priced above it should altogether be avoided.Last edited by vanp; 04-20-2019, 11:17 PM.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Like i said you can try LIQUIMOLY Fs oils also they are imported from germany and the oil provides outstanding engine protection & the gear shifts become buttery smooth, Refinement levels increases in the fz.Originally posted by vanp View Postreally bro .. before the first service I asked SVC about this and they said we cannot use other oil .. and once I brought my own motul chain lube and they refused to use it .. does yamaha really agree with using other oil if confirmed via mail?
They also have different types of additives for bikes which are very much worth for a try.

bro i followed the break in process very religiously as per the manual.. for me the mineral oil doesn't seem to be working.. i think before moving to another brand i'll try the yamaha fs once and see if helps.. if not then i'll move to another brand as suggested by you guysOriginally posted by #bpk View PostActually according to my experience, it's not the oil but it's related to the engine break in process. Previously i had roughness in my engine, so i used honda throttle synthetic oil around 3.5k kilometers but recently at 4.8k kilometers i poured honda mineral oil in 3rd servicing and to my surprise my hornets engine runs more smoother in 260 rupees mineral oil than the 630 rupees synthetic oil. For small engines semi synthetic oil is enough. You can try shell semi synthetic 10w40 or motul 7100, 10w 40 oil if you wish.
