Guys,
Got my RED ABS last wed. Fever struck. Did not get to ride her for a decent distance. I could not find a reserve lever under the tank. CBR does not have one? Also do we need to change the engine oil to mineral oil as soon as we receive the bike?

Bike is great. The only issue I have is with the gear shift. At times it slips from 2nd to 3rd. Anyone of u facing similar issues?

Its a FUEL INJECTED BIKE hence the reserve lever is absent.

• My 1st Night ride with CBR

Since Monday my bike's Registration was pending even after calling RTO agent many time there wasnt any reply from his side so finally y'day after lot's argument with agent and RTO ppl got my bikes Registration done and all formalities were complete . I was toh waiting for this day quickly got new no. plate and greard my self for some highway fun . rode till pambeach ( 20kms) but nah wasnt satisfide so called my friends and told them that am coming to pune and finally started moving towards Pune. Roads are fantastic so was crusing around 110kmph @ 7K and some times 124-125@ 8.2-3K Rpm . After 2 hrs was @ Chandani chowk met my friends and then started returnd journy @ 3A.M and was back home around 5.30-45 A.M.

1> Most of time Bike was @ 7K and still i got 31kmpl

2> Headlam is awesome i dont feel any need to replace it with HID or some other bulb.

3> Now Gear Shifts are smooth .

4> No need to say any thing about bikes Top end ( though i did max 124kmph in this ride . )

5> Bike is super stable on corners and because of Torq it was just flying around corners never felt am riding in Ghats ( UPHILLS) .

Now oddo reachd 800kms another small ride on sunday and am done with Run-in . Got my bike on 5th May .

I heard it's normal as the bike is still new and it'll settle down after some 50 kms. (A cbr owner told me this.)

What fuel are you running it on?

Even I am running on normal fuel but getting a bit of knocking in the lower rev range.

@metal_maniac: Is this the same kind of knocking you were facing and was it completely resolved by the clutch setting?

What fuel are you using?

31 kmpl is quite a good figure for the kind of riding you mentioned. expecting it to increase a bit after the first service.

• Honda CBR 250R: Quality Issues

I am starting this thread for quality issues that people across this board are facing/have faced on their recently delivered CBR250R

I have done 300kms on the odo. The low end torque is amazing and effortless! Pulled it to the mid-range, on a burst at 6-6.5k. No weariness on the last gear to pulling her from 45-110 on the 6th. Pulls cleanly with zero lag.

BUT, it is true that there are quality issues! The fairing has some gaps here and there. The frame welds are visible and are not neat. The visor is somewhat flimsy.

The main concern though, was the stiff gears, especially 1st and 2nd. I felt this the day I pulled the bike out of the dealership! Apart from the gears, the bike also used to heat up and the fan turned on is less that 5 kms of riding. After some continuous riding, it was almost impossible to get the bike to neutral! I was worried, so I dropped a mail to Honda public relations officer and customer service. Contacted my dealer and fixed an appointment for Thursday. Took it to the service station and a HMSI personal, Mr Chanakya, from HMSI Manesar, was already waiting for me there. He test rode it and confirmed that there is an issue either with the gear lever or with the gear spindle/shaft. The lever was ordered from the Honda A.S.S in Mayapuri. The lever was replaced but still the trouble persisted.

He then mentioned that the spindle needs to be changed. I politely gave him a piece of my mind and questioned the Quality Control of Honda. This issue, though very timid, was still supposed to be caught during testing on the dyno. But it came on to the customer and he is facing trouble because of this. I was infuriated but did not let this show, as the bike still had to be fixed, and I did not want to take chances with that.

The Honda representative was the service executive who looked over services for recently launched bikes in the north. He was very humble in approach and apologized for the inconvenience caused. He assured me that it was a 15 min job, wherein the old gear shaft had to pulled out and the new one inserted. He also assured that the job will be done by a Honda service technician who imparts trainings to service personnel across dealerships.

I, although disappointed, was satisfied that the bike is being taken care by Honda itself and not any dealer mechanic. I had to leave the bike for the day as the spindle was to be sourced from HMSI, Manesar.

The next day, he brought the spindle from Manesar. Along with him was the technician who was going to do the replacement. 20 mins later he called and said the bike is perfectly alright. Both of them had ridden it for 10.7 kms and said that there is no issue with either the gear or the engine heat.

As I was in office, I asked a friend, Vikas Shokeen to please collect the bike from the A.S.S. In the meanwhile I asked a few questions from the technician. Being a part of the HMSI training team, he had to be skilled. Got a few answers:

*The engine oil grade: Honda 10w30
*Replacement quantity: 1.4L
*If Oil filter is changed: 1.5L
*In case of an overhaul: 1.9L
*On contrary to normal belief, there is no idle rpm adjustment screw. There is an air intake sensor in the bike, which is a part of the FI system, and which has to be adjusted. So no simple screw for adjustment.
*There are two markings on the oil level window. The oil level has to be between the two.

Also, the gear lever and spindle have been taking back for QC, by the Honda personnel.

A few hours later I got a call from Vikas that the bike is running absolutely fine and there are no issues which were observed initially. I was delighted. The main issue was that the spindle was a bit tapered owing to hard gear shifting.

Rode the bike for 43 kms till Gurgaon today and it feels great. The gears are butter smooth and the fan did not come on, not even once! No heating issues now Happy? You bet I am...

The guys from HMSI were on their toes and I appreciate that they diagnosed and resolved the issue as early as possible. HOWEVER, I want to get this issue highlighted, as this is my right as a customer, and also so that there should be awareness amongst the masses. Mine was one of the first CBR's to be delivered on the roads of Delhi. And even though this issue was very minor, and HMSI took care that it was quickly resolved, but honestly, I was not expecting this from Honda

Regards
Vaibhav

• Took a test drive today (C-ABS).
Some of my observations.

Good -
* Ample low & mid range torque
* Riding posture is best of both (R15 & Karizma) worlds
* Console - one of the best & informative
* With pillion too, did not feel the weight as I did on Karizma, so I guess good handling
* Brakes were spot on (clueless about any C-ABS contribution)
* Bike feels planted on road just the way Karizma feels. It induces confidence in me.
* Bike has a great presence on road, especially red color.
* Rear tire is a turn on.

Bad -
* Fairing was shaking a little (may be specific to bike)
* Little harsh gear shift
* Gear shifting lever was very difficult to down-shift. Had to lift my leg & push it down.

One of the thing I observed is its pick up.
It felt as good as Karizma. A guy there was complaining it is not as good as FZ, which I doubt.

I am still confused n would go for another test ride somewhere else.

It often takes a humiliating overtake to understand that an early jump off the red light won't help them lead the pact. All I want to say is - Go after green.

Sorry galtise mistake ho gaya any ways act @ such speeds you dont get much time to read techo-meter correctly so expect some human error's next time i will try to post some videos. Am maintaining 6-7k rpm for run in first 500kms i rode @ 5.5k-6k and now am riding around 7K .

guys i want to know if any one has any idea where i might get a center stand for the cbr in kolkata or if at all its available for the model ?

i checked the undercarriage and unlike r15 it doesn't have a structure to use that kind of temporary center stand used in the r15.
