My CBR never starts while in gear even while the clutch is fully depressed.
This has been since the day I bought it.
It did not bother me also because I also own Bullet 350 (CI) which has kick start.
U guys discussing is news to me

Check the clutch switch as mentioned by other members. If gone bad then it needs to be replaced.. problem solved!!

Ok. Will get that checked. If it needs to be changed, what could be the cause? Is it normal wear and tear with usage or something else?

No idea what caused this. Could be due to normal wear and tear. My front brake lever's Brake switch developed similar issues after 3 years. Had to do some jugad to make it work, Didn't replaced it.

After losing my patience waiting for the upgraded CBR250R / the CBR300R, I am now looking to take the plunge with the current model !

I will definitely feel sad if Honda launches the upgraded bike with improved engine shortly after I purchase mine. But got not other option and I have been waiting since last September for this bike to be launched, and Honda India has not uttered anything on this bike ( while they seems too happy to talk on the 650 's July launch ) and no spy pictures of the bike testing here as well.

Any thoughts guys?

My bike is not even a year old and has done only 9500kms. I would be surprised if the cause is normal wear and tear.

It's true one doesn't expect this kind of problem in a year old bike but mechanical things fail. It may be due to water ingestion etc.

If you're waiting from last September'14 then its not enough wait...some people here have waited ages to get their dream bikes. And the wait was more than the worth. Even I am waiting for CBR 500 R ever since it started making rounds on the net. But then my focus shifted to N650 and again to CBR 650 but after knowing about its price I was disappointed.

Only to realise it yesterday that Honda here IMO is playing a brilliant game (i hope) by bringing their 500 family & 650. By this move they are going to make all others companies to take matter more seriously in the premium segment.

I personally don't feel that Honda will bring 300, it being twin cylinders instead they will bring 500 & 250 with new twin headlight setup.

So its matter of few more months and the picture will be crystal clear. Instead of regretting it later its better to wait, who knows there might be a great grab waiting for all of us.

I do agree with your points kety213 , the thought that I would miss out on any of the niceties that Honda might give in the new model - most notably the fresh dual headlamp styling and the engine with improved power ( even if the 250 cc engine gets launched, it would have the power output bumped from 27 to 29 PS )

Which is the only reason I have been waiting, but now I have become tired of waiting and the current bike is not bad in anyway! So I am thinking of booking a red one with ABS, and if in case there is a confirmed news before the delivery, I can always cancel my booking and book the new one

Bro, If I were in your place, I wouldn't expect much. The 300R has been launched internationally and is a misnoner, since the '300' is actually 275cc, which is just a larger bore on the current 250R with all other mechanical components remaining the same. It won't be a big jump like the N250-N300. The larger engine would give a 4BHpSo engine-wise, there is nothing to be disappointed about, the CBR never feels underpowered (unless you are pitting it against the KTM 390s). But if you still need that extra bump, you could always get your engine re-bored. Heavens forbid, if Honda chucks the 275R (ok, the 300R) and relaunches the 250R, you'd hardly expect any performance bump over the 26bhp model. The 300R produces 30BHP from a 276cc engine, so how much of a bump can we expect if Honda sticks 250cc? Negligible or nil, I'd say.

That leaves only the looks to consider (Dual headlamps). Again, since the frame is unchanged, I am very sure the new fairings will be compatible with the existing CBR, though this is yet to be confirmed. I would suggest looking up some international forums where the 300R has been launched, to confirm if the new headlamp assembly will be compatible. On the minus side, the new chrome plated exhaust cans look yuck!!!

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!
