• Re: Honda CBR 250R

Mine has done about 17500 Kms in 1 year 1 month now.

Recently the handlebar seems to wobble a lot in certain cases. The handling seems a bit off. I got the coneset adjusted about 3000Kms ago.
From the current discussion, it seems changing the tyres might help. Is there anything else I can get the SVC guys to check on?

fork alignment.

front and rear wheel bearings.
wheel spindle both
rear swing arm bushes.
chain alignment.
coneset.
warped rotor
bent rim
weight balancing of rim..

So many parts?? theironhorse99 you have mentioned these parts may affect the wobble right, as I see these parts except tyres will last much longer than 17k(please correct me of am wrong).

And recently I recollected my thoughts about dynamic wheel balancing using ceramic balls. anyone used it on CBR with good results? am thinking to try it on mine but sourcing them is the main problem.

yes all these can create wobble and life is completely dependent n usage.i will jot down ideal life of parts...

coneset : changed at 17k
tyres : 15k and post that you are running on risk.
rotors : 50k easy
wheel spindle : can go bad if regularly used on potholes road.
wheel bearings : regular wear and tear : 30k is good life. post that change em even if working.
chain slack : check every 500 km
swingarm bushes : depends on usage : 35/40k but again ....
fork alignment : can go out of alignment if you went in a big pothole.

Thanks @theironhorse99 I will take it to the SVC this weekend for the checkup.

The tyres are both stock, and I have done 17.5K+ Kms on them. So I guess its high time to get them changed, though they have not lost all the threading.

Finally after a long gap the bike is back in action.
There was nothing wrong with the in the first place, it was the KA RTO to blame.
Anyways, all is well and good.
binarycodes , even after 18k on those tyres mine looks brand new, except for the fact that i have 2 punctures on the rear wheels which are plugged from outside only(no air leak) and the front tyre leaks air every other day(no rim bend or punctures either).

Sometimes i wonder if any R&D was done before they decided to mass-produce this tyre.

Cheers

Same here, the tyre leaks air like there is lot of puncture in both the wheels. To live with that I have brought the foot pump to fill air before I start the bike. Additional work though I need to do that until both the tyres are changed.

I fill the tyres weekly from a shop very close to my apartment. So managing like that, will change once i start touring again. For city i might just use this tyres, or at least until monsoon shows up.

Ha ha ... I keep checking the tyre for any obvious damage. None that I can visibly notice.
Planning to get it changed by the end of the month.

Well, the simple fact is that, it is a clear case of the "Bean Counting" gentlemen(Accounts dept as referred by a fellow Xbhp member) having things their way , to keep the overall cost of the Bike down. Having any other softer compund tyre would mean more cost, and that to an already costly price of the CBR would mean disaster for them.

This has been a ritual for me for the past two years. Usually, these are caused by 'micro-punctures' - very small punctures and they don't leak much below a threshold pressure. For my Contis, this was 23psi. After the pressure fell to 23psi, there was never any further air loss.

Now thoroughly fed up, I have decided to go for a tyre sealant treatment.

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Looks like I am in the same situation, the pressure is not dropping after certain point. Apart from hard compound there is more problem in the Conti-go's :banghead:

Yes, micro punctures are the culprit here, but for me it is worse, the reason being , my bike was being rarely used for the past 5 -6 months, so the bike would stay idle for over 1-2 weeks at end and then when you want to ride it the tyre is almost flat, hardly 10-15 psi pressure remains.
Tyre sealant is an option, but considering the cost it might incure, i am having second thoughts.
