I may be wrong but i think they cant be installed in wrong direction. I had removed these pads and checked for wear 2 months ago. Had installed them back myself.

Ps: rotor seems fine. Tried scratching the disc surface with my nail. Couldnt find any irregular surface
I suspect either a retainer or pad spring was was missed or a faulty installation of either one of those. By wrong direction I meant, there have been cases, where the rotors instead of being sandwiched between the brake pads gets sandwiched between one pad and the other being the caliper itself which scores the rotor and the caliper itself. Secondly, play in pads caused by missing retainer or pad springs can make the pads move in and around and cause improper pad wear. But, if we can get a view and the condition of the inside of your pinchers and the piston that would give us a a fair idea.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

If you mean that clip inside the caliper, my rear caliper had those clips bent somehow and i had just removed it (that U shaped spring like clip, called stabilizing pin by my friends). I have been running my rear caliper without that clip since last 10,000kms or so. But i don't think that clip is missing from the front caliper as i have to push brake pads hard to keep them inside the caliper. I will check it out if that clip is still there or not. will update this thread with pics in a few days (too busy with work these days)
There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

A weak battery would be difficult to charge, putting more load on the stator coil, which could overheat and fail.

A weak battery would put more strain on the electricals, causing early failure of those critical parts.

Unlike engine oil change interval, a failed battery means a stuck vehicle, which would be waste of time and money, not to mention mood kill. The bike can do 8000 kms on a FS oil, no problem.
        Leech,

I do not want to start a debate just an information if you have. But do you have any example of how can a battery stop working suddenly based on age, I have never imagined such a case as battery tends to get weaker as it ages.

Well, according to the limited knowledge I have, and my experiences with batteries, I can say that the average battery would last 2-3 years at full capacity. As the battery ages, and sulphates, it would crank out less and less power. It would take longer to charge due to increased resistance. It's a gradual process, but in an emergency situation, the battery can fail.

Just imagine a flooded engine on CBR. Takes a while to start it back up.
Imagine the stress on the stator coil as it tries to charge a dying battery.
Imagine the load on the starter motor, as it takes longer and longer to start the vehicle.

Obviously, all batteries aren't going to spectacularly fail one fine morning after 2 years. Some guys even do 4-5 years on a battery. But the majority of automotive batteries do conk out after 2-4 years.

Well engine flooding and a weaker battery is a bad thing to happen that too when someone is going to know that unknown

But this is what I want to know, a battery most of the times shows its weakness before completely giving up, so if there is any strong strong case then obviously I should keep an watch for it.

My stock battery which came with bike, suddenly stopped working one day. I was riding and it stalled. That battery lasted for 4+ years. Replaced that battery by same exide xplore xltz7 6ah battery which was available for CBR and all was normal since then.

The above incident happened some 1.5 years ago. Last week I noticed MIL went on for few seconds continuous while cranking. It was random, but every morning I noticed it and it took quite long to start the motor than usual. I tried to comb the manual and internet to decode this MIL indication and came up with conclusion that battery is unable to produce required amount of voltage. Rode to battery shop for voltage check and to my surprise it was only 9 volts under load. Got checked the bike's output voltage as well and it was varying between 13.30 to 14+ under load and normal conditions which would be considered normal as per manual. So, my question was how this battery wasn't able to supply enough voltage and wasn't getting charged? It was because I have added 2 aux lamps (36 watts), horn is also replaced by a better one, and 6 watts strobes apart from 55/60 stock headlamp and 10 watts signals. I use to ride in night everyday with aux lamps and headlamp on. This little battery did its best to carry those loads for last one year. It's still under warranty.

I didn't want to go ahead with that little battery anymore. It's good for completely stock bike, but not with such loads for longer period. Thus, I got a bigger one which is Exide Xplore xltz9 and expanded the battery cage and fitted it perfectly. Till now, everything is perfect. Bike starts in half crank under all lamps on! Hope, it would suffice the need.

              Here are few pictures.

                Hi Guys,

I have a plan to go for a long ride in 2 months time, and so far i just have a standard helmet, cut Leather gloves(local brand), Helios jacket and Ankle protection boots. now i am looking for a knee gaurd, a proper riding gloves and a touring Helmet.

I have somehow made up my mind for Helmet and Gloves, Helmet decided upon MT ATOM and Gloves on any full gauntlet after having a trial at a SPG outlet.

Now my main concern is for the Knee Gaurd. I am posting it here than in the Riding Gear thread as i have a particular issue in choosing the right Knee Gaurd for my Riding posture in our CBR 250 R.

I have recently borrowed my friends Kneegaurd for a trial, but I found that its little big and i cannot keep my knees closer to the bike. I usually don't tightly hug the tank with my thighs, but i will keep it as close as possible. But because of this bigger knee gaurd, i have to compromise on my riding position and in turn found that am transferring more weight to the wrist. Due to this i could not ride comfortably over longer distance. The ride plan is to cover almost 700 kms on day 1, so i wanted to make sure that i should find the best option available for me.

Budget is around 3-5k for knee gaurd, but can be extended a little more. I am not a big tourer so i cannot justify the higher cost to my better half .

So guys kindly pour in your suggestion so that i can choose the best one for me.
I have an eye on this product but cannot find the review and its quality, but looks sleek and soft on the outside which i guess will keep me comfortable to keep my knees as close to the bike as possible

Thanks for you suggestions, however as i have mentioned i would like to get the inputs from CBR owners who owns and uses the Knee gaurds for this specific bike. where as i get can get more options from those threads mentioned by you, but most of which will not be apt for my condition.

Thanks for sharing the experience, but can you care to explain the detail about your bike stalled. did it leave you stranded completely or you have managed to ride it back to change the battery. I recently replaced my stock battery with AMARON, i do not have heavy load except 2 10W LED lightsand the stock battery lasted close to 4 years and 40k usage.

                      Hi Ram,

Yes, I was not able to start the bike till I got the new battery next morning. That incident happened near to my home only. Had it been somewhere else, the scene would have gone wrong. I remember when I cranked after battery concked off, I was able to hear a funny "kirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound without moving the starter motor. All lights got dim at that moment.

As per my personal experience and opinion, it is advisable to replace the battery once warranty gets expired. In between, battery health check-up should be done on multiple intervals. If you buy Exide battery and register them on their website, they use to send texts to get your battery's health checked up periodically.

As per my recent experience last week, when battery's voltage gets low, the MIL lits up for few seconds without blinking only when you press start button. This happens after the normal PGM FI MIL glow-up which takes place when you switch on and pump gets ready.

Better change the battery ASAP. It's one of those critical things which you can't do without. Check the voltage first, it should be above 12.6v on standby with engine off. Just like arvind experienced, one day the battery will 'suddenly die'. So, be proactive. Nobody gets any prizes for the most long lasting battery.

About chain and sprockets, better check the chain slack yourself with a ruler. It should be around 1.5 inches, not more than 2 inches. It's difficult to guess when the chain is going to slacken, thus if it's done 40k kms, and you're going on a 2000+ kms trip, then change the chain sprocket set. Otherwise you might end up in a Honda SVC which has no stock of the chain.

Battery is already changed to Amaron, and chain slack is not an issue it still have good life for the trip.

If possible please reference the contacts here as it would not only help me but others also. If there are members who have done the same (serviced under Karthik and currently in Bombay) please put in views. I really had some bad experiences with earlier and therefore I would require help.

I changed engine oil to Shell FS and gave the mechanic YAMAHA fz oil filter to replace stock one. It didn't fit as we cover the shell and bolted and oil started oozing out. Then we installed the stock oil filter and covered the shell.

Still oil is coming out and again opened the shell and applied some glue so that oil stops coming out. We kept it to settle down and noticed oil has stopped so I started moving. After driving 30kms when I reached at a stop and noticed smoke coming out around from engine due to oil coming out of oil filter cover area. Oil has been spilled around engine bay, swing arm, tyres and waited there 10 mins and noticed oil is still coming out and dropping on ground.

I found it strange and am worried about in night oil doesn't drain totally.

What is the fault here? What can be done to solve this problem. Please help
