A quick question guys! I'm going out of my town for next 2 weeks. Today cleaned the chain.
Just wondering whether I should lube the chain now or after 2 weeks prior using the bike?

Do it now.. not good to keep a clean chain without lube. might cause surface rust especially in coastal regions.

Thanks for the info. I am going to change the chain set from SVC this time. Last one, Rolon kit, I got from local stockist was for 1450 INR and is super crap - no more space to adjust it after 18,000 km while I lubricate more often than recommended intervals (200-300km, 90/140 Grade gear oil). OEM is also from Rolon, but quality is good, which easily lasts up to 30,000 km.

Hey all, I think my CBR reaching its service time. I can hear a noisy engine once it get hotter, some vibration/light metal voice when it is running, not from engine. Also noted my head light flash switch is not working, loosen handle bar weight, vibration from the body kit etc. I have visited Whitefield tansi Honda last Saturday but Karthik was pretty busy to attend the bike. I am planning to do an advanced booking for next Saturday and reach show room by morning 8 itself. My bike has only reached 12k kilometre but I am afraid that my previous owner has not done a neat service so far. From my side, one service was done by Anand Honda, Hosa road but the satisfaction level was below average. So below are my key points, kindly advise me.
              1) it's noted that oil filter was not changed on last service, hope this will be readily in stock in all service centers?
              2) front brake pad need a replacement, do I need to mention the same while booking the appointment? Or it will be available?
              3) while downshifting, there are some stiffness on gear liver, some time I can hear that thud voice in higher gear as well, mainly while downshifting.
              4) I used to maintain my chain well, using 3m lube, is there any better lube available, I believe it's a dirt magent.
              5) what are the key points I need to mention while doing the service?

Hi. I'll try to answer as short as possible as per your numbers :-
                1) oil filters are in stock most of the time.
                2) when the job card is created, mention your works that needed to be done, including brake pads replacement.
                3) the "THUD" sound you get when the engine rpm doesn't match the gear shift. Try engine braking a bit before shifting down (probably around 3k rpm).
                4) 3M lube is good but then as much as I have searched around, and heard from lots of people, it seems that Motul Chain clean and chain lube are better than of 3M or Yamalube from Yamaha itself.
5)mention all your issues to the technician before he starts with your work and he might be able to get hold on the problem and try to rectify it.

                Cheers.✌

Oil Filter needs to be changed every second service, provided you use the same engine oil. I would suggest you to use Shell FS for slightly better gear shifts. And do not give it to any other service centre if you are in Bangalore. Even I travel more than 20 kms one side just to get the bike to Karthik. He has all the parts in stock, all the time. yes, you read that right. So oil filter, brake pads etc are in stock. I would suggest you to get there before 8AM, finish all the needed things with service advisor, wait for Karthik. Heck, he even allows you to watch him work on the machine, there is a separate bay for CBR and seats to sit
Ride, ride and ride.. But always do it responsibly..

                      Hi all,
Today I took leave and went to tansi Honda for the service. Frankly I lost my entire day there but quite happy the way Karthik has taken care my baby CBR. I had to change both disc pads, oil, oil filter, air filter, meter console top cover, clutch cable etc. The bike feels much better after the service. The total bill came close to 7.8k

Guys, I'm facing a problem with the ignition. When I turn my key to ON from LOCK, the instrument cluster is, sometimes, turning off. Like, LOCK-->ON: no display.
The mechanic is saying to apply some WD40 in the lockset and try again.
I'm using the second key that I originally got with my bike's purchase, the first one being disposed off due to excessive usage.
I'm doubting if the lockset needs a change. I've done ~29k kms.
                        :D

WD 40 is worth a try. I lubricate the lock with old engine oil or gear oil.

If this doesn't work, then push for replacement under warranty.

Wd40 can solve the issue I guess, ignion key set will be expensive for sure. If you are in that situation go to an expert service engineer for a thorough checking

My pass light switch doesn't seem to be working fine. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Maybe your unit needs a change as the contact points might have worn out.
