Re: Honda CBR 250R
Absolutely smooth, no issues, downshifting and upshifting, post and pre 4.5k rpm is totally smooth. I'm become a stickler for chain maintenance too, get it cleaned fully and adjusted every 700-1000 kms, get it lubed every week if I even feel a little bit of dryness on the chain.Originally posted by leech View Post

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Does he know to clean the oil strainer? figure out the shim issues? because the other ASC's I had met insisted that the bike did not come with an oil strainer and the shim ping noise was normal.Originally posted by Siddhanth Paul View PostThere's one in Irla. I go to him frequently. His name is Ajay. Contact no. 9773808996

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Same for me. These days I'm also very much keen towards cleaning and lubing chain frequently. If I could have started the same care from day 1 of ownership my chain would look much better at present.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostAbsolutely smooth, no issues, downshifting and upshifting, post and pre 4.5k rpm is totally smooth. Why would you want to do that? If you own non-abs can try P180 brake pads as some gurus over here suggested the same but if own ABS not much option left for you unless you order something overseas.Originally posted by Pavithranmt View PostCan i use any break pads instead of honda oem break pads? Re: Honda CBR 250R
Its a non.abs version. They said it will cost Nearly 900/- rs for rear break pads. For orginal ones.Originally posted by hypheni View PostSame for me. Re: Honda CBR 250R
There is no oil strainer for CBR. We get only an oil filter, which should be changed every 12k kms. No cleaning required.Originally posted by Manan View PostDoes he know to clean the oil strainer? figure out the shim issues? because the other ASC's I had met insisted that the bike did not come with an oil strainer and the shim ping noise was normal.
About shim sound, it's not normal, but many CBR have it. If the noise gets louder, get the shims changed.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
There is an oil strainer in CBR. You need to remove clutch cover. It sits at the bottom, a bit ahead of clutch assy. Once you remove clutch cover packing, it's clearly visible.Originally posted by leech View PostThere is no oil strainer for CBR. We get only an oil filter, which should be changed every 12k kms. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hmm. Haven't heard of that! Why is there no mention of it in the manual and no service interval for it? Is it lifetime problem-free?Originally posted by arvstreetracer View PostThere is an oil strainer in CBR. You need to remove clutch cover. It sits at the bottom, a bit ahead of clutch assy. Re: Honda CBR 250R
There is no mentioning of strainer cleaning in schedule maintenance sheet, but I think it should be cleaned since it's there for a purpose. Or may be maintenance free. I haven't opened the clutch cover yet but whenever I do, will make sure I clean the strainer. I have passed 42k km till date.Originally posted by leech View PostHmm. Haven't heard of that! Edit: It has been shown in manual on how to clean and refix it. I have attached a screenshot of the same.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Well, one or two guys who have 1L+ on odo made no mention of the oil strainer or its maintenance, so I don't think it's necessary. However if you do it, please post some pictures for educational purposes. TIA.Originally posted by arvstreetracer View PostThere is no mentioning of strainer cleaning in schedule maintenance sheet, but I think it should be cleaned since it's there for a purpose. Re: Honda CBR 250R
In fact, Pulsar 220 and CBR 250R both have oil strainers right below their oil pumps, and Arvind has given you a snapshot from the service manual. And yes, the owners manual doesn't give you these details. These act as a second line of defence in trapping bigger particles that keep floating around in the oil like metal shavings, and small blobs of gunk. And no, nothing is lifetime care-free, it can be cleaned every 10k though even the service manual doesn't state at what interval. So, you can do either periodically when you change oil or every alternate oil change, personal discretion.Originally posted by leech View PostThere is no oil strainer for CBR. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I had cleaned the oil strainer 3 or 4 years ago. The only thing lodged there seemed to be a shred of white silicone sealant. After undergoing the entire exercise I felt it was absolutely unnecessary.Originally posted by leech View PostWell, one or two guys who have 1L+ on odo made no mention of the oil strainer or its maintenance, so I don't think it's necessary. There is a trox bolt located right below the strainer, if you feel that the strainer requires cleaning you could just drain out the engine oil from there once .

Rear disc brake pads might be touching the disc and holding the wheel back?
(2011 Honda CBR250R C-ABS)
I think the brake pads on my rear brake are in constant contact with the disc. When I free spin the wheel it really feels like something is holding it back. Also when riding and I release the clutch without applying throttle, engine braking feels excessive.
Brake pads were changed a few months ago, and fluid levels are in acceptable levels.
What can I do?
