Re: Honda CBR 250R
I started using higher octane mostly speed or Xtra premium like 8 months or soo ago, bikes alright, no issues, I only go for these fuels for the preservation of the fuel pump more than anything, I been using 300v for the past 5000kms almost I think it's life is coming to an end compared to throttle oil which by 2000kms engine feels a bit rough or, 10w40 lasted a bit longer.Originally posted by leech View Post

Using premium fuels gives better fuel pump life? Haven't heard of this one so far. What's the secret?Originally posted by Deathwing View PostI started using higher octane mostly speed or Xtra premium like 8 months or soo ago, bikes alright, no issues, I only go for these fuels for the preservation of the fuel pump more than anything, I been using 300v for the past 5000kms almost I think it's life is coming to an end compared to throttle oil which by 2000kms engine feels a bit rough or, 10w40 lasted a bit longer.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Not life, more like preservation. Because I've seen like rusted up fuel pumps because of bad quality fuel, then again the owner of the r15 never took care of his bike that well, it had water mixed with the fuel.Originally posted by leech View PostUsing premium fuels gives better fuel pump life? Re: Honda CBR 250R
I am not able to shift down gears after a 700+ kms trip. It has started from last 120kms.
I pull the clutch and only able to shift down one gear and rest all gears are not getting engaged as it should be. I have to push the gear lever from my toe towards the engine by-fro so that it gets its stiffness. It becomes totally loose or else.
What can be the issue? Loose clutch play or anything else
It was a terrible experience in b2b traffic, at a time I was stuck with 3rd gear as it was not going down easily due to loose play of gear leverIts not the Bike that makes a Biker perfect, its a Biker who makes his Bike perfect :)

Checked the gear box? What about your chain sprocket? Did you tighten and lube before going on your trip?Originally posted by alliwanted View PostI am not able to shift down gears after a 700+ kms trip. It has started from last 120kms.

Chain sprocket were recently changed 6K kms before. Bike was fully serviced before going on trip. And I was continuously riding at 110-120 for entire route.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostChecked the gear box? What about your chain sprocket? Re: Honda CBR 250R
ECU still controls the fueling, and it also does all the millisecond corrections that you've mentioned. You've got to notice here, all idling in a throttle body is either taken care of by a stepper motor or the throttle plate with a separate motor controlled by the ECU or plain screw types, it depends on the manufacturer. The ECU controls the fuel spray with readings taken from the TPS which determines the amount of air sucked in by the engine. This is still cable operated, remember, not RBW.Originally posted by leech View PostOh, so despite ECU we still have to rely on a ₹5 screw to make sure the bike idles properly. [emoji53]
I was of the opinion that the ECU, which can make calculations in a millisecond, would never allow the bike to idle below 1500 rpm, but it's not the case. The bike sometimes idles poorly, causing stalling in traffic. This stalling happens only when the engine is hot, clutch is pulled in, like bumper to bumper traffic.
Start off with the shift lever first. Inspect if there is any unduly play or slack or loosened tire rod. The CBR's linkages are made of very good quality steel, and are extremely robust. Secondly, if the linkages are fine, you should probably check your gear shift rod and spring that goes inside the engine, if we have a faulty shift rod spring, the gears won't slot be it upshift or downshift as they are supposed to.Originally posted by alliwanted View PostChain sprocket were recently changed 6K kms before. Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Sounds to me like your clutch wire needs to be checked! Might be because of too muuch play like you have mentionedOriginally posted by alliwanted View PostI am not able to shift down gears after a 700+ kms trip. It has started from last 120kms.

I think you should push this oil to at least 6K.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostGuys small update on my oil, changed to 300v 4500kms back, oil level is at 1.5ltr still and oil is good for 1500-2000 kms more, may opt for the same or shell advance, depends on my preference.

Please post this to Lighting thread under Universal section. Also you could try some LED lights as these days HID light craze has come down to a certain level after introducing LED lights.Originally posted by JoshAraujo View PostWant to get projector lamps/HID lights installed for my CBR, does anyone know how much it might cost?

Happened to me once. Turned out that the bolt which attaches the gear lever was loose. Well, I reached home and the whole lever was hanging.Originally posted by alliwanted View PostI am not able to shift down gears after a 700+ kms trip. It has started from last 120kms.
