Re: Honda CBR 250R
[QUOTE=arvstreetracer;1332998]
The same noise started coming for me when the odo was around 8k kms. The service centre guy dismissed the noise saying an engine oil change will resolve it.The noise was back when I was on my way back from the svc.
Was just curious that will the rimula oil treatment as done by many other people on this thread will be of any help? Or opening up the engine is the only way?

[QUOTE=Satyajit Samantray;1333029]Start using System G. This might help. Another best way to remove all this muck/crust/carbon is water. Once the motor is on optimum temperature, squirt water in mist form for a minute through air intake (remove air filter). Keep your rpm at least 2500 or greater, but not less than that. Water will become steam in combustion chamber and will help removing those carbons. I have done this in older machines. Don't pour water directly. You can use a bottle spray.Originally posted by arvstreetracer View PostThe same noise started coming for me when the odo was around 8k kms. I am already on Rimula for last 1800km. It's good oil and has better cleaning properties, but it won't help reducing spark knocking.Last edited by arvstreetracer; 03-01-2018, 11:51 PM.-----

Yes, pinging/spark knock is not good for motor. The uneven detonation has detrimental effect on piston, rings, sometimes conrod and main bearing too if severe.Originally posted by leech View PostWill the carbon deposits cause a problem at high rpms?-----

No, I meant riding at rpm avoiding the pinking, or knocking. Is cleaning of the carbon deposits absolutely necessary?Originally posted by arvstreetracer View PostYes, pinging/spark knock is not good for motor. Iftex Clean System G for all Petrol Cars (200 ml) https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01FHRZZ3M/..._sPdMAbBZC4ETQ
Is this the system G additive that you are referring to?
Also any idea on where can I source it in Bangalore since its unavailable on Amazon.
Also I wanted to know , how much time did it take for you at the svc to open up the engine and remove the carbon deposits and get the complete job done?
Regarding rimula is it the rimula T4 15W40 diesel engine oil??

Use it regularly as written on bottle. 1ml/liter.
In my case, head gasket went kaput and I was left with no other option that replacing it. While doing so, I cleaned the piston deposit free. It's entire day job as you need to remove the motor from chassis. I wouldn't recommend to do this just to remove carbon deposits.
I am using Rimula R4 15w40 HDEO, got a 5L can from Amazon only.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hello!
Can anyone provide the model no. for SKF tapered bearings which are used for the steering in the CBR. Please do shed some light on how does it perform as compared to the oem ones provided by Honda and the cost of the SKF. My bike has done almost 30k kms now and I guess its time to change those bearings as the handle alignment goes out after few hundred kms of re-adjusting/re-tightening it.
Thank you.

[QUOTE=vjxm;1333051]Yes, it is safe, but not all HDEO. Recommended grade is 10w30 - 10w40 and Rimula R4 is 15w40. 15w40 won't do any harm.Originally posted by arvstreetracer View PostIs it safe a diesel engine oil for petrol engine.and oil grade is different from recommend.-----

Re: Honda CBR 250R
[QUOTE=arvstreetracer;1333058]Dude, Diesel engine oil is hard and contains heavy detergents to better clean diesel engine, which might not be good for bikes.Originally posted by vjxm View PostYes, it is safe, but not all HDEO. Diesel cars generate a lot of soot, and diesel oils are designed to keep the soot not to form lumps in engine oil, hence heavy detergents. I dont think thats good exposing your bike internals to such heavy detergent oil.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
The coneset needs to be installed properly.. i.e. the races have to sit flush and bearing balls installed with sufficient grease and tightened properly. Some mechanics don't pay much attention and sometimes the race isn't installed properly causing frequent issues.Originally posted by pushu097 View PostHello!

Here is a useful link to skf aftermarket parts for two wheelers. Check out if they have anything for the cbr (some bearings might be the same across different bikes, so am not sure if another motorcycles coneset is compatible with the cbr i.e. if cbr specific part isnt available)
