It will take a few 100 kms to grip but after that it's just bliss, I haven't had a close call or a accident ever since changing my tyres from mrf to Michelin, this is based on my experiences, but Michelin is a great all rounder, can corner but not as much as a metz but enough, can handle bar roads well, and decent wet grip as well.

Now its fine and have thought of adding few accessories to my bike.
I was thinking of going for frame sliders (non cut), I know the point that fairing costs less than sliders but the issue with Repsol model is that even the stickers are not available with SVC for fairings. SO anyone here got the sliders? Costs? And any photos will help too
Could you plz elaborate exactly what was the issue?

Actually i am facing a weird problem since months where engine oil is slowly seeping out from a passage that has been purposely given right below the bearing of pump on the inner side of clutch cover.

I got the cover opened up also but according to mechanic, nothing could be done about it.
As per him the bearing cannot be taken out and my only option is to replace the whole clutch cover panel or using m-seal to seal that passage permanently.
But sealing it is a stupid thought, because it has been given for some purpose and i doubt that sealing it will lead to oil getting mixed with coolant.

I guess that there must be some gasket behind that bearing which has gone kaput but they simply refused.

Currently i am not riding much and keeping a watch on oil level but its frustrating to see oil seeping out from a passage.

Any kind of light on this will be appreciated.

Hello CBR owners!

I currently own a Karizma ZMR(2014) and I am looking to upgrade to CBR250. Following are my queries:

1) I am concerned about the low end torque of cbr250 as i am a very sedate kind of rider and hardly revv above 7500rpm. The karizma is unbeaten in this regard. I use my bike for touring and a short commute daily. For touring in hills ZMR is a monster!! I hardly have to revv above 3500 rpm to climb a steep. Even 3500 is too much..the bike climbs steeps at even 2500rpm and trust me I Do Not Have to Change Gears on an Incline unless the rpm falls below 2000rpm!! It is phenomenal! Heck! i weigh 72kg and my brother weighs 92kg.. I was in the basement of a mall and coming out on a steep entry.I put the bike in first gear with both of us on it..it climbed fine..i revved to 3500-4000rpm and put it in 2nd gear..it took the second gear like a BOSS and was still not just maintaining the speed but accelerating on the steep. I was surprised to my core!
question is how is the driving of cbr in hills? i am sure it does not climb like a zmr but how is it? How many gear changes are required?

2)Would the bike really be an upgrade considering its only a difference of 25cc?

Sahil Goel You will have to rev up in the CBR250. It's strength is the midrange, after 5k rpm.

What is your budget for a new bike?

The price of STD model is around 1.8L onroad and ABS 2.1L approx. So even for the STD model you need to stretch your budget a bit. Let other owners reply you regarding hill climbing as I never took my one to hills. But apart from that it really great legendary machine. When it revs under 5K rpm I feel I'm riding a normal commuting bike, once it cross the mark of 7K it turned into a full potential 250cc. So it feels really nice. Only the thing is you need to change gears quite a lot in traffic.

Like pointed out earlier, you will have to stretch your budget. As far as as I know the new cbr comes to about 1.96 on-road Bangalore and the abs version about 2.3 .
And concerning the lower end torque, I find it pretty comfortable in Bangalore traffic, you won't need to shift frequently unless you ride like there is no tomorrow. And once you are on the highways, there are a few bikes in the 2lakh range which can match it .
When It comes to hills you will have to rev it quite a bit more than the zmr since this one is a much higher revving engine than the zmr.The zmr red-lines around 8.5k , correct me if I am wrong, but the cbr goes way higher than that.
And coming to the question whether it will be an upgrade or not, I firmly believe that it will be one.
You get better tech, better refinement, better handling, better stopping power and abs(if you opt for it).And also if you do happen to own the new updated zmr then you also get better looks.Don't just go by the capacity difference there is a lot more to this bike than cubic capacity.
Also a suggestion from my side, if you do not want to stretch your budget, then you can go for a pre owned cbr. You can always sell it if you don't like it.Cbr has a great resale value too.
Hope this helps you.

Hill climbing is done at 5000 rpm in CBR. There is absolutely no problem running the bike at 7000 rpm in the hills. It's a different kind of fun. Once I did 25 kms of hill only in second gear. 20 to 70 kmph.

Guys..one more QQ to our experts..my friend also own a Cbr. After his last service with Honda, may be he ran so far 3k. The oil gone very dark and he replaced with the help from a local garage. They replaced the Honda oil with motul 710 20w-40. Later when we're discussing, confused because Honda oil is 10w-30. When we were searching, out of India Honda was recommending 20w-40. So it's it's either 10w-30 or 20w-40 there. Could you please guide us?

How many kilometers had the bike run? usually the oil is supposed to be replaced every 6000 kms,I am not sure where you got the information of Hondia India recommending 20w-40 but refer to this link [https://www.honda2wheelersindia.com/...-_CBR250R.pdf] at page 50 it is stated that the oil must be 10w-30.

Further if you have issues on reading the oil grades this is a good guide Motor Oil Viscosity Grades Explained in Layman's Terms

In case of other issues take it to Tansi Honda Opp laughing colors at the whitefeild road, Karthik there is one of the best mechanics around, just be patient and he would patch up the bike if there are any other issues.

CBR works much better and composed compared to a ZMA on tours . as far as hills are considered and you are going uphill it starts making healthy torque from 3500 rpm and 5k is where it starts going fast... 6k is where it hits the power band ..

it will be a much better ride compared to a zma. the only downside of cbr compared to a zma is a smaller fuel tank .. rest its a no brainer.

honda pennzoil is 10w-30 however you can use 10w-40 else 15w-50 either of them.
now honda oil gets dark at 3k does not mean its gone bad. thats normal for any oil. it still has life of 5500-6000 km.
if you want to move to a better oil. get shell ultra 10w-40. works fantastic.

Honda recommends a 10W30 oil. But I am using Motul 7100 10W40 which is an amazing oil. If your friend has used a 20W40 then I would suggest your friend to come down to Motul 7100 10W40 and see for yourself. Also get yourself K&N kn 112 oil filter for cbr 250r from flybhp website. use FZ 150 oil filter for 39 bucks. dont waste money for OEM oil filter or something else. FZ filter has more pleats and works much better.

Thanks for update, I will update him the same. I read many place about the shell synthetic oil performance. But what I heard from local cab drivers and garage people are, shell synthetic which they usually collect from shell petrol pump or local retailers are not up to the mark these days. So most of the people are switching these days. Even I had a situation where I switched synthetic oil from a shell petrol pump and didn't have a good experience. Due to engine roughness, I changed the oil close to 2k itself. I thought it might be due to my old engine. Unicorn works perfectly fine e with Castrol active4t.
