Re: Honda CBR 250R
Ok guys recently my bike was due to service and I had a clutch bell issue, apparently the cbr 150 clutch bell can be reconditioned n used but not the 250 also the clutch bell is part of the clutch set which I have to purchase the full set n replace, any pointers on this? My clutch plates n all seem to be fine, I don't redline the bike often at all been a good few years since I've done that. It's just a sound but I won't have peace of mind, was told I can ride the bike for another 3-5k km without bothering too much of the sound which happens when I hold the clutch down while shifting n bringing the bike to an Halt.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Are the angel ct available in india? I've been trying to find those out but was unable to get my hands on those. So I got the next best thing, Michelin Pilot Street Radial (stock size). If you get your hands on those pirelli Angel CT then get them. They are the best tyres for CBR 250r as per the reviews used internationally.Originally posted by Satyajit Samantray View PostSo I have been hunting for new tyres for my cbr and came across 2 new tyres, pirelli Angel CT and Metzeller Sports Me tyres which are available in the oem size and 2017 stock.Anyone has any experience on these tyres on the cbr?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Yes they are and also in the 2017 stock.I had contacted pirelli about the diablo rosso 2017 stock and they gave me the contact of an authorized dealer in bangalore. The same dealer stocks almost all variants of pirellis in almost all sizes. The name of the dealer is cherry agencies, you can contact them if you are from bangalore.Originally posted by Ave2592 View PostAre the angel ct available in india? Re: Honda CBR 250R
from the pics posted by leech , it's obvious the front sprocket is worn out.Originally posted by D.j View PostThanks, for posting it here
Just for my knowledge, i think the sprockets are still in good condition , especially the rear one as VJ talked about it .
Front seems to be which has taken the load and is little turned out Directionally, but still good as teeths are not sharp or misshaped .
Correct If I am wrong , is it due to the chain condition you were facing issues ?
I am not very good at observing sprockets too.
Some more light on how to check worn out chain and sprocket will be helpful here.
For what I can understand it is always good to make the chain to be in tension while you ride , meaning changing gears at right RPM range and downshifting is also important , like revv matching techinique thats helps take out some load from the chain .
I personally think for CBR 250r the right time to upshift is above 5k rpm after 2nd gear .
And downshift below 5.5- 6k rpm .
I follow this and my motorcycle chain doesn't need adjustment for next 4-5k kms.
Just sharing my inputs
for sprockets, basically there are two thing you should look at for wear.. the first is if the teeth are 'pointed' and second 'hooked' (bent, which is clear in the pics he posted). And other obvious thing is if any tooth are chipped off (which might happen eventually if they are too worn i.e. pointed and hooked)
honda's manual itself iirc provides a pictorial representation of a good vs worn sprocket. Or just do a google search for a good vs worn sprocket and you will get an idea on what i just explained.
a lot wear on these powerful bikes is usually first on the front sprocket.. a worn sprocket will accelerate chain wear. and a worn out front sprocket will cause noise like tak-tak at slower speeds and no amount of adjustment will fix that.
chain slack can be set at the manufacturer's spec (never less) or maybe a wee bit more especially if you weigh north of 85kg or frequently carry a pillion. because remember when you load the bike i.e. sit on it, the chain tightens up.
if you spot a worn front sprocket early enough and are able to just get the front sprocket replaced, that should buy good time between replacing the entire chain kit. this is good enough if you are someone who regularly cleans and lubes the chain (no need to use fancy stuff.. a brush, diesel and gear oil is sufficient) and usually adjustment will be required every 4-5k km as you pointed out.
manufacturers usually recommend to change the entire kit, this usually in real time is true for most folks.. because its usually only small number of folks who maintain the chain well (which is essentially lubing it at regular 500-1000km intervals and cleaning it as required.)
I've replaced the front sprocket on my d200 at around 28k km iirc, which was worn (pointed and hooked) ..this was causing that annoying sounds at low speeds. Though ktm doesn't want to sell just the individual parts, luckily the p220/p180 front sprocket is a direct fit on the d200 and cost a mere 150rs. I am good to go for at-least another 10k km.
as for leech , he has extracted good life out of the chain kit and at this mileage it was a good choice to replace everything. and leech did you change the cush rubbers in the rear wheel when you changed the sprockets ? I think it would be a good thing to do at this mileage or during a chain kit replacement, because that is another part usually neglected which might cause play in the rear sprocket and some noise/vibrations.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
s1d, yep, the rubber dampers were changed. I could have extracted 50,000 kms from the whole set if I knew the right lubing interval and technique when I bought the bike. Several times in the initial ownership period I rode the bike with dirty rusty chain.
And believe me on this, I just spend 10 minutes for lubing the chain. No Diesel or kerosene required! Never used them. Just a piece of clean rag, apply engine oil on a part, rub the chain with your finger on the oiled part, and move the bike forward and repeat!
The most important part of this experience is the SVC didn't screw up this time. I was polite but firm that an expert must oversee the work.Last edited by leech; 03-30-2018, 08:11 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
It's my first post here,
I have been riding My father's Honda Unicorn for almost past 3 years and I need to buy one for me now.
So yesterday I went to Honda dealership with my family to book the new CBR, The new paint scheme was great. One of our relation works there,My father called him and came, I was looking at the Hornet until he came, the moment he came, he started to insist that XBLADE is bigger and better than this, and Started to say that that is enough for me.... For a college going lad. He almost never talked to me and talked to my parents saying that it is "cheap" and it is "enough for me" and tons of times he said it is better for our city roads though I told him I ride to my college in the highways. He privately talked to my parents saying that the CBR causes most accidents(seems that guy has never heard of Ktm). I told him I want a Full fairing and he told XBLADE has full fairing and told my parents that almost all bikes has fairing like XBLADE. And told me that XBLADE is totally different from the pictures in honds website and asked me to check It out today,I'm like what you mean? It had no fairing in Auto expo and now it has one? And you're saying CBR also has fairing like XBLADE? . He said there is no safety in CBR and said causes a lot of accidents. Now he says that the XBLADE is very safe and "enough for me" and it doesn't even has ABS... Doesn't even has rear disc brakes and how the hell is it safer on paper and the bikes are not even on-road yet. He also started to say that this is the perfect bike, it's cheaper, safer(seriously?) and looks very big. I could go for R15 or the Rc200 but the problem is the "aggressive riding position" which my parents don't want me to buy. The reason I went for cbr is the relaxed riding posture and also the reduced height of pillion seat. I really wanted a full fairing and he is forcing my parents to buy Me a XBLADE, says that it has same fairing as CBR.The Rr310 is out of budget for me. I need to upgrade to some higher cc not from Unicorn 150 to XBLADE 160. What to do?Does he recieve a high commission for selling a XBLADE?Last edited by Hoardseeker; 03-31-2018, 10:38 AM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
BS I'd say, about the fairing part. I don't know about your repation with the representative, and I won't comment on that but it looks to me like he is desperate to sell the Xblade to u. Maybe he's getting a higher cut on that because Honda needs to push its sales somehow, on its bike front. And, Xblade and CBR are 2 different worlds in pricing. If CBR's price is not a problem, you can go for it. I also commute daily to college on my CBR and it's comfortable, I can tell u that. Although Xblade-like bikes can be easier to maneuver thru traffic, irrespective of their cc.Originally posted by Hoardseeker View PostIt's my first post here,

Re: Honda CBR 250R
As him to show you the CBR250 and the xblade side by side. Firmly ask him not to talk bullsh1t. Please don't consider the xblade, take the Hornet ABS instead. The whole reason he is pushing xblade is because he has no CBR 250 stock, and it would take more than a month to arrive.Originally posted by Hoardseeker View PostIt's my first post here,

Never, I repeat never, ask the salesman which bike to buy. He will always push you to finish the sale, so whichever bike he has in stock, he will shamelessly sell that to which ever bakri comes walking.
When I went into one of the best Honda Showrooms in Chennai, I had already made up my mind what to buy. The salesman said "CBR 250 is out of stock, may take 6 months, take 150". I looked at him like the 150 was for peasants who buy their rice at the Ration Shop and said in louder voice. " I need the 250. Booking amount? Give me the brochure and cost estimate."
It was rude and crude, but if I appeared undecided, he would probably sell me a Shine.

Just as you said he has no CBR in Stock and may take a month to arrive in my city. The Hornet has ABS and better safety than Xblade but I don't know why he's pushing on the Xblade. When I say those to my parents they say that he works on this field and knows much more than anyone. He is my relative and Most of the times my relatives turn into my sworn enemies.Originally posted by leech View PostAs him to show you the CBR250 and the xblade side by side. And I missed another point he said....he said me to buy the 160cc and asked me to custom fit full fairing in Coimbatore in Tamil nadu which is almost 500km from my city. Wouldn't it void my warranty? Won't it look absurd?Last edited by Hoardseeker; 03-31-2018, 11:09 AM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I had similar situation when my mom used to lease her land to a hero Honda showroom, the guy there advised against me going for the cbr saying its too expensive blah blah, and told me zmr is a better choice, obviously, my heart set on the cbr, I got a non abs one and how right I was. As for your situation it's clear he's trying to sell off the x blade soo he can make a cut, cbr and x blade are miles apart, honestly hornet is a better option. If you cant go past the hornet n x blade, I would suggest you to look at the 200cc segment as well.Originally posted by Hoardseeker View PostPricing is not a problem, Yesterday the reason I went to the Dealership is to "Book" the CBR. Re: Honda CBR 250R
I have just gone to see the Xblade and Hornet. Saw those, clearly he was trying to sell off, my parents were saying that it's safe so buy that, I asked about ABS, he said no Abs... And I asked Disc brakes? No,its available in Hornet. Then I asked the dual channel abs variant price(I know there is no dual channal abs variant) he said no bikes come with dual channel abs.Frasturated and I told my parents to go to Bajaj showroom to take a look on rs200 and said it has dual abs, The showroom guy interrupted and said there is no dual channel abs in Rs200. I was about to start a war with that guy, lucky guy, my parents told me not to talk because they believed the representative that it is safe good best . And after a few mins he was like "oh! U mean the rs200 ya it has dual channel abs" at first he was like none of the bikes in the world has dual channel abs only front abs blah blah.. Decided not to buy at that Honda Showroom. **** those b****s, now I can't get a CBR.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostI had similar situation when my mom used to lease her land to a hero Honda showroom, the guy there advised against me going for the cbr saying its too expensive blah blah, and told me zmr is a better choice, obviously, my heart set on the cbr, I got a non abs one and how right I was.
