Re: Honda CBR 250R
I would’ve chosen a full face helmet over modular helmet, in case of crash what if that hinge holding the front part is broken. Just for capturing pic, don’t compromise on your safety.Originally posted by pinkesh2703 View Post

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi,can you please share the contact number to make an appointment?Originally posted by Ivin View PostSome Bad news and good news for CBR250R Bangalore owners.
Bad news : Karthik from Tansi Honda have left Whitefield Tansi Honda showroom. He has moved out. People who serviced from there after he left haven't been happy about the service.
Good news: He is now working in 'Highlander Ventures LLC', A multi-brand motorcycle service center , located at Sector 1, HSR Layout. Incidentally, this service center is owned by the same owner of Tansi Honda, so parts for CBR250R are available off the shelf. They are stocking KTM parts too, and would be doing the same with some super bikes and Yamaha R series as well.
They are stocking Motul oils now along with Honda Throttle FS oil, and will soon stock Shell Ultra FS for CBR owners.
This SVC again may not be a good news for new owners or owners in warranty period as this is not a Honda ASC.
Now its easy for me since I dont have to travel 25 kms to reach the old service center, this one is quite close to my place and reachable in half an hour. I serviced my birdie from this new place yesterday and can assure that all is good. The crowd is less now since its a new place, but still an appointment is recommended before going for a full service.
Checklist for the service .
1. Both brake pads replace. Front EBC Double H rated sintered pads supplied by myself, rear OEM.
2. Replace worn out rubber mounts and re-torque all nuts and bolts (Trying to keep vibes in check here).
3. Shell Ultra FS finally, with oil filter change.
4. Chain Clean and Lube (This guy uses only Motul chain clean and lube and charges a reasonable 250 bucks for the same. He literally sits and cleans each link
)
5. Adjust cone-set .
6. Clean Air filter/Replace if necessary.
This was it. My bike is more than 5 years old, running on new coolant, fluids etc. So basically I did not have any other major issue with the machine. Happy soul munching around 55km/day in hectic Bangalore traffic, where most of the roads are now non-existent. The service was excellent as usual, and a full service cost Rs.600 + Rs.250 for chain clean and lube, and the rest based on what is changed. Labor rates are same as Honda, no changes here.
After the service, I couldn't honestly feel much difference in smoothness with the Shell FS oil, but it should last more than the Honda Throttle with its properties surviving a longer interval. Today I noticed some gear slips as well, will give it some time to bed in, same with rear brake pads too. EBC front pads are a different story. It immediately bed in and have immaculate bite. Excellent.

I never heard this before that Modular helmets can have safety issues.Originally posted by Chandan92 View PostI would’ve chosen a full face helmet over modular helmet, in case of crash what if that hinge holding the front part is broken. Just for capturing pic, don’t compromise on your safety.

But I'll always have this thing in my mind.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Modular helmets*are made to offer protection with their chin part down, so they act as full face lid.Originally posted by pinkesh2703 View PostP and J certificate ??
Can u enlighten me on it ?
If it does, it’s given type P certification for protective face covering.
But some are also tested and approved to be worn with the chin part up, like open face looking helmet. That’s J certification.
If they have both, it’s called P/J certified.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
This issue had been traced to a broken camshaft bearing. Replaced some stuff (camshaft bearing, rocker arm etc). Total bill inc labor came out around 3900/-Originally posted by hgps View PostGuys,
Please listen to this engine noise (taken from 3-4 ft distance. I have given the bike to service center to rectify this noise and they have estimated 10k "PLUS" amount. Said timing chain, tensioner and cylinder head is needed to be reworked (rocker arm adjustment). They said shim replacement isn't required.
Am i being duped here? because i though that noise is coming from loose valves or something.
My bike is 2.5 years old with 30,275 km on odo.

Just leaving it here, may be helpful to people facing similar issue.
Bike was working fine since then. Had been riding it daily. Last week i shifted to an apartment right next to my office. Ceeber was sitting idle for 9 days (longest so far). Result? Busted fork seals.
Got both of them replaced. Total bill: 1700
Current odo reading is 32,600 KMs. Unfortunately i don't see it increasing anymore than 200KMs per month now. Got 2 Cans of Shell advance ultra 10w40 for 530 per bottle from amazon. Will be changing oil next sunday. There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

That's just sad to hear. Engine problems at just 30k on odo. I wonder what's the cause.Originally posted by hgps View PostThis issue had been traced to a broken camshaft bearing. Replaced some stuff (camshaft bearing, rocker arm etc). Total bill inc labor came out around 3900/-

Hey Danny Boy, the reason I guess your engine failed so early, probably might be because of Dani Pedrosa's retirement news which your little CBR too it a bit more seriously, me thinks! Though the sound link you've posted is a ditto representation of the CCT and the the cam chain itself, the sound is so similar that even a trained ear can shave it off as a different analogy. Now that you've isolated the issue, I'd have a few questions to ask. When was the last oil change carried out, prior to the camshaft bearing failure? Was the vehicle staved off way too long without cranking? Last but not the least, was there any coolant issues, i.e. heat management issues with the motorcycle. Would be interested to know your inputs.
Do keep your observations posted.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Last oil was changed at around 28000KMs. I initially used to change oil every 6000KMs (as per service interval). Now i change it at 4000-4500KMs.
Vehicle was used regularly. Never left idle for more than 3 days (until last month).
Yes there was some heating issue due to leak of coolant from thermostat housing or radiator pipe. Engine temp rose to 5-6 bars (but not to max/blinking). I allowed it to cool down before riding it to service center. It was almost 1 and half years ago.
Edit: Hadn't checked fuel efficiency ever since i moved to a different city. Earlier i used to get 28-31kpl. Last week i checked after more than 1 year. Getting 20.6kpl. But that's in crawling traffic (5-30kph) and when conditions permit, going full throttle till 90-105kph.Last edited by hgps; 09-11-2018, 11:25 AM.There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I don't understand how the bike got it's fork oil seals busted by just sitting idle. I've kept my bike idle for a month, 2-3 times in 5 years, but never had oil seals busted when I rode it again.
hgps - which oil grade do you use, and how often do you check the oil level?
Sorry for the questions, just trying to figure out the reasons. I had my oil levels drop below minimum once, and soon my CCT started making noises; I had to change it at 25k Kms.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Maybe some mud had accumulated on the inner fork tube considering i had ridden it in heavy rain. I could see a lot of dirty rings around top side of inner fork tube.Originally posted by leech View PostI don't understand how the bike got it's fork oil seals busted by just sitting idle. Even my FZ-S had busted its oil seals (twice) since its not being used much, sits idle for most of the time.

I have previously used honda throttle FS. Tried motul 300V once, then motul 7100 once. Using shell advance ultra 10W40 right now. Always used 10W40 grade (except honda throttle which was 10W30). I check oil every 10 days or so.There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.
