Re: Honda CBR 250R
One interesting point that I do know is that the pre 2013 models came with three pin and the later models came with two pin lockset connectors. Accordingly, to his point, he's right, the other cuts the fuel injection according to this article.Originally posted by Dandamudi Mohan Krishna View PostHi All,
Just an update, after 7 years of ownership today I got biggest service bill ever, a whopping Rs. 15,000 in total.
The lock set of my bike started acting on for almost a month, the bike will turn off randomly even when key is "On" position, then I would have to turn off and on again.
I tried everything from WD-40 to graphite as mentioned by @leech. Nothing worked and I have been going to many service centers for fixing it and all of them told that I have to get replacement there's no other way to fix it.
Yesterday when I was driving in around 70 kmph the bike turned off suddenly luckily I was looking at the speedometer at that time and my muscle memory kicked in and grabbed the clutch immediately. That was the moment I realized there's no point of wasting time anymore and went to service center.
The lockset alone costs around 11,000 and there were other minor repairs to be done which was carried out.
I asked the SVC why older models (Pre-2013 models) are so expensive compared to newer ones which is roughly 6,000 , as per the mechanic the older models the lock generally shuts down the fuel pump too apart from turning off the bike. I'm not sure if that's any true.
But this is just a heads up for all the owners make sure your locks are well lubricated (not too much) to avoid such a thing.

Mohan
Hey everyone, I am going to be using this thread to document my build of a 2012 I just purchased. Feel free to follow along and offer up any advice you have, it's going to be interesting. So, to start, I purchased this bike on CL and was told "it just needs an ignition coil, some fairings and...

The girl said, 'NO!'

A jammed piston perhaps. If you feel the brakes remain "applied" and the tail lamp glowing accompanied by a screeching sound, one of your piston in the front is not retracting or is jammed in that it is pushing the pads outside which can cause screeching sounds and what not. I'd suggest you remove your front brake pad, re-bleed the system and check if the pistons are fully inside before installing the pads.Originally posted by Om1234 View PostChange disk pad and disk brake fluid.
But i am hearing screeching noise from front disk and the front brakes remain applied all the time as i can see the rear light glowing all the time
what would be the issue?
Air in line or improperly bled system too can cause grabbing and brake fade. Do check and keep your observations posted.
Cheers!

Re: Honda CBR 250R
there are two thing you need to check.. the ms/caliper pistons and the electrical mechanism that activates the light.Originally posted by Om1234 View PostChange disk pad and disk brake fluid.

a problem in the caliper will not light up the tail light.. simply because the light is not controlled by the piston but by a switch that is activated when you press either of the brake lever. So check the brake levers mechanism and that the related (front and back) wiring/switch is working properly.
Next you need to check the Master cylinder and the caliper, preferably get an over haul done i.e. disassemble, clean, grease caliper pins (you get parts to rebuild the caliper and master cylinder and they aren't expensive. don't fall for the trick of svc to make replace the entire units).
On new brake pads a minor screech is ok which should vanish after using the brakes for a few 100kms. You could also give the rotor a wash with some soapy water
and a green dish wash scotch brite pad.. but do not 'glaze' i.e. do put a smooth shiny finish on it.
Can you post a pic of the caliper with the pads/piston area visible (without pressing on the brakes) so that we can better understand the situation.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hello everyone. Just thought to share an incident which occurred with me 2 days ago. While I was cruising inside the city within 40 kmph, a girl popped out of nowhere from in front of the bus which I had already crossed more than half of the bus. And in order to save her, I honked and also steered away from her but I was unable to stop in time, hence my side mirror crashed with her resulting in me sliding down with my bike. Luckily I was nowhere even scratched as I had my gloves and helmet on. But I was shocked as it had happened with me for the first time. The people nearby helped me, her and my bike to be kept on the side of the road for safety. Later on I was more shocked to see that the girl was using earphones and listening to songs while crossing a one way road while looking to opp side of the traffic.
Not sharing here to get any sympathy or attention but just curious that how can public be so careless with their lives and also the lives of others just to hear 10 secs of the song?
P.s - mods, please do feel free to put this post elsewhere if this is a wrong thread to discuss. I've posted it here because I am a CBR 250r abs owner and the incident happened on this very bike.

Happens to the best riders. Most pedestrians don't even think of what they're doing. That's why you got to put dual horns. Also it helps to start yelling at them so they know what they've done wrong.Originally posted by Ave2592 View PostHello everyone. Just thought to share an incident which occurred with me 2 days ago. One thing I want to learn from this is : you have the abs model right? Can you clearly recall what action you took out of reflex the moment you saw her? Was it hard braking, or just steering, or braking and steering at the same time?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Well there is no point in yelling if the girl acts to faint so she can escape the public harassment and the blame gets on the bikers. However her parents were duly informed about her careless act and her parents had to apologize on her behalf which feels really bad to see our elders apologizing for the mistake their kids made.Originally posted by leech View PostHappens to the best riders. Did you brake or swerve to avoid her? Or just rammed her?Originally posted by Ave2592 View PostWell there is no point in yelling if the girl acts to faint so she can escape the public harassment and the blame gets on the bikers. I first swerved and then braked.
The post stays here, don't worry. You and the girl both are safe that matters, and yes all it takes for one is a dumb move and boom. Nonetheless, I hope the damage to your bike isn't significant. Damages to the vehicle extensive?
Ride safe!
Cheers!

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Not sure if this is right but when I encounter anything by surprise I try to loose speed in a straight line rather than try to avoid the obstacle even though I might end up ramming into it. Reason being when we try to swerve in an emergency, most of the time we won't be paying attention to oncoming traffic from either side, especially the not so obvious side and getting rear ended by a speeding truck or bus is very much possible in our country which is something I've had experience with in the past.Originally posted by Ave2592 View PostI first swerved and then braked.
Edit: My motorcycles don't come with ABS, I drop the gears hard one by one until I'm in 1st, with practice this has become involuntary to an extent.Motorcycling Experience:
