I know this is a stupid thing to ask, now that I've owned the CBR for over 2 years, but what is the orange-ish light that turns on on the instrument cluster when I switch the kill switch on?

Thats the fuel pump priming for ignition.Originally posted by Siddhanth Paul View PostI know this is a stupid thing to ask, now that I've owned the CBR for over 2 years, but what is the orange-ish light that turns on on the instrument cluster when I switch the kill switch on?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I asked because as far as I remember, the sales guy told me not to start the bike while the orange light is on, but I saw many Honda technicians start the bike, irrespective of whether the light was on or not. Kinda worried meOriginally posted by New guy View PostThats the fuel pump priming for ignition.:D

Re: Honda CBR 250R
That's correct. Even the owners manual recommends not to start the bike while the orange light is on.Originally posted by Siddhanth Paul View PostI asked because as far as I remember, the sales guy told me not to start the bike while the orange light is on, but I saw many Honda technicians start the bike, irrespective of whether the light was on or not. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Common issue with CBR. The blue LED fails often. You can replace the LED by a skilled circuit board repair guy, or the Honda guys will replace the entire console which costs 6-7k.Originally posted by Pavithranmt View PostIs anyone facing insrument cluster light flickering problem? New guy - 250 or 1250cc, I'll still get the bike going as soon as the engine idles properly. I believe the engine oil starts spraying soon as the engine starts. Then why wait for optimum engine temperature? We're not making a dosa here.

That check engine light glows orange whenever the fuel pump primes. Although I've started the bike while the pump is priming, I believe it isn't a good habit to make, purely due to electrical reasons. The load on the battery is greatest when the engine is starting, so if any other electricals are running at the same time, it could lead to low voltage fluctuations which is harmful for both the fuel pump, battery and the starter motor.Last edited by leech; 11-09-2017, 12:53 AM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys just want to know whether my bike mileage is ok for my riding condition.
I usually ride at 40~60kmph.
i fueled up 400/- ( petrol rate was 71.86/ltr ) and have ridden 170kms.
I do get roughly around 31km/ltr.
Is it a good mileage?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Any pointers to a flooded engine? Bike is running fine, started today but sometimes I feel a slight struggle to start once or twice, otherwise fine.Originally posted by leech View Post@ Deathwing
I idle my bike 5 seconds before starting off, always done so, and I have no engine problems at 43k kms. I didn't buy into the 2 minute idling theory since the bike has a 1.5L oil sump.
Regarding starting trouble, it could be flooded engine, or a dying battery. Do check the voltage of your battery, it should be above 12.6 volts in the morning before a ride.
The starter motor does wear out slowly, when i bought the bike the engine started instantly, like a light switch. Five years later, it takes around 1.2 seconds to start.

Hey I get the same. And in fact I do lots of redlining, even then.Originally posted by bondarun View PostGuys just want to know whether my bike mileage is ok for my riding condition.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Check the battery voltage bro. Flooded engine usually occurs to me only after the vehicle is run for a minute.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostAny pointers to a flooded engine? Bike is running fine, started today but sometimes I feel a slight struggle to start once or twice, otherwise fine.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Ok I think I know the culprit, it's a bit of dirt or gunk in the injector or fuel pump needs a cleaning, also battery needs charging, my bike stopped while riding at a decent speed, had to put indicator and try to crank her up, it's run about 5500 since last service, I think the time has come to service, probably will switch to shell 10w40 n see the usage for 3000kms.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hey need views on my CBR 250r question.
My CBR250r is 9 months old and from the beginning i have found that while changing gears there is quite a loud knock. This is specially in lower gears. Also randomly the gear will slip into neutral while shifting from one gear to the other.
I have heard that Honda Gear shifts are the smoothest but from my experience this is not true. The gears are not hard but they make quite a loud sound when shifting.
I brought it up during the service with the honda technicians and they keep adjusting the clutch and saying that this is normal.
Could other CBR250 owners please give me some views on this?
Is this sound and false neutral normal on CBR's?
Thanks.
Appreciate the replies.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I've faced false neutrals when downshifting from 2nd to 1st, or upshifting from 1st to 2nd.Originally posted by Spacebar_77 View PostHey need views on my CBR 250r question.

I do hear loud knocks once on a while when shifting to 1st from neutral when ignition is on.
Except that, no loud knocks or false neutrals. The problem may not be in your clutch, but in the fitting/positioning of your gear shifter. Might need a slight adjustment.
Also, did u drop ur bike? If yes, get the shifter replaced or repaired so that it doesn't hit the gear linkage:D

The false neutrals on my bike are often between 2nd and 3rd. the loud knock sounds are between 1-2-3-4 gears. beyond that its smooth.

Spacebar_77 - I face false neutrals at 1-2 or 2-1 only. Which engine oil do you use?
Also, the loud 'thock' produced by my bike when I upshift to second from first, makes people look at my bike to see if any parts have fallen off..
