Re: Honda CBR 250R
Perhaps Chennai guys can comment on the spares availability, but Didar Motors stands out as decent countersale for spares. Secondly, with respect to speedo showing 0 and mileage not being counted, with the speedo lighting up and tachometer working properly, I'd suggest you check your speedo sensor or the vehicle speed sensor that is behind the starter motor. A faulty VS sensor can show no reading up in the dash. Check if it's fastened properly, probably or the connectors have been undone unknowingly by the mechanics or you just never know, so an inspection of the same would be recommended. Just in case, do check your 10A meter fuse in the fuse box, which handles many things, such as METER, LICENSE, TURN, TAIL PILOT.Originally posted by Nanda SS View PostHi all,
Changed my CBR's battery previous week, after that speedometer and odometer not working.... that is speedometer shows 0 and mileage remains constant.
Is that battery problem or sensor issue...
And after oil (SHELL FS)filter change by myself 2 days back, engine feels very rough and foot pegs vibes a lot....
Please anybody knows which honda showroom in chennai have counter sales of all common spares of CBR250 r.....
Secondly, do check your battery terminals and observe if they're securely fastened and are a snug fit. There shouldn't be any play in the terminals. A loose terminal can make the electricals go haywire.
Do keep your observations posted.

The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Do you still own the CBR? Forgive me if I might have asked this question before, but I don't seem to recall.Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostPerhaps Chennai guys can comment on the spares availability, but Didar Motors stands out as decent countersale for spares. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thanks for sharing the pics,it helps a great deal.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostGuys went today and purchased a brand new chain sprocket kit, I was expecting it cost to cost 2300-2500rs, to my pleasant surprise it costed 1843rs. I purchased cause I feel my chain sprocket is nearing its life end and thought I would stock up on the spares, like I have done with a clutch bell, clutch set, throttle and clutch cables as my bike is done close to 46k km now and my chain sprocket has started making a few noises but its still rideable without losing much smoothness, and got to say the engine feels much more smoother with the shell advance 10w40ultra fully synthetic oil which costed me rs1060 for two litres on amazon and low to mid range zone and heating is much better , compared to the 300 v motul 10w40 which was best on highway cruising speeds and in the top end, the didar Honda spares guy also asked me to get the rubber damper set wheel which he told me to change when putting on the new chain sprocket set, I am attaching the bills below as well. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys I know most people on here are against mods but I'm thinking about putting a better rear suspension setup, someone suggested me a cbr 600r one as its a direct fit and will last a lot longer than the stock suspension which to my calculations is good for 25k km roughly, even if i need to mod a bit, it's not a issue as I work with a racing team and we make linkage pipes for fixing suspensions onto race specs plus aluminium swing arms but my main point here is suspension, upgrading to a better one shouldn't necessarily affect the reliability, would like to know if anyone has done such modification or anything, another thing I'm going to do is replace the ball bearing with tapered rolled ones which is spose to last the bike's life. Will keep y'all updated I feel like my rear suspension is close to giving way and my cone also is a bit worn out, changed my chain sprocket set today and immediately bike feels a whole lot better and smoother, at 45900kms and changing my 2nd chain sprocket maybe early and I could have stretched it n rode more but the chain noises which could have been arrested by changing the chain, I didn't want a uneven wear soo decided to change the full set since its not very expensive.

That's a good thing you've done, Changing the chain sprocket kit as a whole. Changing it piecemeal won't really help save money due to uneven wear of the rest of the parts.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostGuys I know most people on here are against mods but I'm thinking about putting a better rear suspension setup, someone suggested me a cbr 600r one as its a direct fit and will last a lot longer than the stock suspension which to my calculations is good for 25k km roughly, even if i need to mod a bit, it's not a issue as I work with a racing team and we make linkage pipes for fixing suspensions onto race specs plus aluminium swing arms but my main point here is suspension, upgrading to a better one shouldn't necessarily affect the reliability, would like to know if anyone has done such modification or anything, another thing I'm going to do is replace the ball bearing with tapered rolled ones which is spose to last the bike's life. Re: Honda CBR 250R
Yeah buddy, didn't see the point of changing just the chain and the part isn't that expensive thankfully, I have a doubt, is the first lot of cbrs were made in Japan? Correct me if I'm wrong, the lockset of the Japanese made cbrs cost almost triple the amount of the one manufactured here if soo has anybody seen differences in quality, im just curious.Originally posted by leech View PostThat's a good thing you've done, Changing the chain sprocket kit as a whole. Somebody told me the first lot was made in Thailand. No idea, mate. All I know is that the lockset of the pre 2013 models cost double of the the post 2013 models. My lockset is giving me problems, gonna have to replace it soon. It gets stuck while locking and unlocking.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostYeah buddy, didn't see the point of changing just the chain and the part isn't that expensive thankfully, I have a doubt, is the first lot of cbrs were made in Japan? use WD-40 generously. that should fix it.. else your primary key is worn out .. try the second key and see if it changes...."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys, a tip for those who haven't tried it yet : graphite works great for sticky ignition locks or other stuck locks. With a knife in hand, scrape some graphite off a pencil onto your key. Insert the key into the lock and twist back and forth a couple times. Worked on my bike.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi All,
Just an update, after 7 years of ownership today I got biggest service bill ever, a whopping Rs. 15,000 in total.
The lock set of my bike started acting on for almost a month, the bike will turn off randomly even when key is "On" position, then I would have to turn off and on again.
I tried everything from WD-40 to graphite as mentioned by leech. Nothing worked and I have been going to many service centers for fixing it and all of them told that I have to get replacement there's no other way to fix it.
Yesterday when I was driving in around 70 kmph the bike turned off suddenly luckily I was looking at the speedometer at that time and my muscle memory kicked in and grabbed the clutch immediately. That was the moment I realized there's no point of wasting time anymore and went to service center.
The lockset alone costs around 11,000 and there were other minor repairs to be done which was carried out.
I asked the SVC why older models (Pre-2013 models) are so expensive compared to newer ones which is roughly 6,000 , as per the mechanic the older models the lock generally shuts down the fuel pump too apart from turning off the bike. I'm not sure if that's any true.
But this is just a heads up for all the owners make sure your locks are well lubricated (not too much) to avoid such a thing.
Regards,
Mohan

Re: Honda CBR 250R
The bike turning off when running is probably due to ignition contacts corrosion in the bike, something lubing wont solve. Iirc, someone had the same issue, removed the lockset, opened it and cleaned it out.Originally posted by Dandamudi Mohan Krishna View PostHi All,
