Last oil was changed at around 28000KMs. I initially used to change oil every 6000KMs (as per service interval). Now i change it at 4000-4500KMs.
Vehicle was used regularly. Never left idle for more than 3 days (until last month).
Yes there was some heating issue due to leak of coolant from thermostat housing or radiator pipe. Engine temp rose to 5-6 bars (but not to max/blinking). I allowed it to cool down before riding it to service center. It was almost 1 and half years ago.

Edit: Hadn't checked fuel efficiency ever since i moved to a different city. Earlier i used to get 28-31kpl. Last week i checked after more than 1 year. Getting 20.6kpl. But that's in crawling traffic (5-30kph) and when conditions permit, going full throttle till 90-105kph.

@hgps - which oil grade do you use, and how often do you check the oil level?

Sorry for the questions, just trying to figure out the reasons. I had my oil levels drop below minimum once, and soon my CCT started making noises; I had to change it at 25k Kms.
hgps, perhaps oil flow might have been starved to the head causing a bearing failure, but that would mean we have a the valve train damage also. But, nonetheless, a bearing goes for a toss, but hope the rest of the valve train is in good shape. I hope the guys' at the SVC did a thorough job of inspecting the valve train.
leech, yes, given the wrong circumstances fork oil seals can go bust. Actually, it's the ageing of the seals that causes them to fail. The seals over time harden and cause a leak or a mild foreign object stuck to the fork stanchions enough to ruin the inner part of the seal by repeated fork action. But, nonetheless, they do fail over time.

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Even my FZ-S had busted its oil seals (twice) since its not being used much, sits idle for most of the time.

I have previously used honda throttle FS. Tried motul 300V once, then motul 7100 once. Using shell advance ultra 10W40 right now. Always used 10W40 grade (except honda throttle which was 10W30). I check oil every 10 days or so.
From my experience motul 300 is best suited for high speed highway cruising because at the higher speed the oil is at its best state for the engine running smoothly, in the cities, the 300 v tends to heat up a fair bit but not too much to burn or cause a worry, I recently purchased shell fully synthetic oil recently 2ltrs at 1060rs which is a great deal, bike has done 45300kms, I'm having this irritating issue of front n rear tyre running out of air frequently, gonna change the air nozzles on both the tyres n see, I don't think it's a puncture honestly, any idea on the cost of the front n rear air nozzles?
On the other hand the 300 v 10w40 has done about 5000kms, still can push another 1000 but I'll be changing it soon, as the bike feels due for a service.

One more thing guy apart from my air pressure dropping problem which is alarming in the front and rear happens slowly, I get a very floaty feel on the front end, tyre is still ok but has done close 20k, it's Michelin pilot street radials, front end doesn't feel very confidence inspiring sometimes, I guess I'll get it checked during service.

I am going through the same issues myself. Tires running down on air pressure. Floating feel. And I too use the MPSR.

Happens, when there is no fork action the unused area develops minor rust spots which when used again is driven into the seals causing them to bust.

Changed engine oil yesterday, Filled in Shell advance ultra again.

Oil was light golden colour when poured in, but after running idle for 2 mins and when i allowed it to settle in, this was its colour.

Is such decolorization normal after just 2 mins of oil change? Seems like my engine internals are quite dirty. Will stick to lower drain interval now. Maybe 3000KMs

Should i go for Shell Rimula R4 treatment to clean the internals?
There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

Yes, it's a good idea. I'm planning to do a Rimula treatment myself since my oil turned out much worse than yours at 100 Kms. Drain at 500/1000 Kms, repeat the Rimula treatment. Then fill oil of your choice.

It does make sense to not go with the ownership manual and change oil as per sump size, the ideal thumb rule being 2k for a sump sized roughly around the liter mark.

For comparison, here's a snap of my inspection window, I apologize for the lack of clarity as the photo was snapped now in low light with the help of my budget phone's flash.

The motor seen in the picture is crude in comparison to your precision machines i.e no TPS, more cylinder clearances, no external oil filter etc, it has every attribute that would indicate to way more crank case blow and oil contamination than that which would be faced by your machines yet with close to 1k km's on the sub 300/- Shell AX5 20W50 the oil is still transparent.

Not making any claims but just saying, its always better to run a cheaper oil for shorter intervals than run an expensive oil for longer intervals.

Cheers.

Take some oil out and check closely.. does it appear greyish white ? If so it could be due to mixing with water/coolant. Did you wash the bike after oil change ?

Few pointers. Discoloration of a brand new oil depends on the deposits inside any engine, and mild discoloration is normal even after oil change be it the bike is ridden for a few mins or just let idle. What one should note here is that the oil shouldn't turn peppery and black that's when you know your engine has deposits built inside the inside and perhaps can use engine flushing before a fresh dose of oil.

Bottomline, yes mild discoloration is normal, apart from oil turning jet black. Do keep a note in the few days and see how well the oil changes its color characteristics and keep your observations posted.
