Could anyone point me to a good accessories shop in Chennai? I'd like to install a charging point on my CBR 250 + a pair of aux lights / bulb upgrade. Since these are related to electronics, I'd prefer someone quite good and experienced to do the job. I plan a good.long ride soon, so don't want to take any risk with the installation.

Hi guys, i am facing a strange problem for past few days. The issue is, some times i cannot upshift from 3rd, not always , but sometimes it did not . the gear leaver moves freely but the gear is not engaging. There is no problem in other gears. Only when upshifting from 3rd.
PS: i am using unicorn 150s clutch cable. Cause i swapped the handle bars with rtr 200s. I showed this issue to svc , they said it because of the clutch cable. But i used that configuration for more than 3000 kms now. The problem only started from past couple of days. If the clutc cable is the main culprit, Would it affect all gears right? But the issue is only when upshifting from 3rd gear

start by checking the external gear linkage/tie rod. maybe put it up on a paddock, spin the rear wheel slowly and shift thru the gears and see how it behaves.. while at it make adjustments to the clutch free play and see.

Sometimes a clutch cable can be the culprit, where one or two specific gears have trouble shifting. The one easy way to check is stop the motorcycle, with the engine running shift through the gears, check if the gears are slotting in as they should with a positive click. If you feel resistance with the third gear or the gear that's not slipping in properly, simultaneously adjust the clutch cable freeplay and check if there is a positive feedback. Also make sure your gear lever tie rod and mechanism is properly tightened or not loose. A loose tie rod is extremely prone to poor shifting feedback where it doesn't slot the gear properly or jumps a gear while driving due to improper shift.

Check and keep your observations posted.

As u said i tried to shift with the engine running. Gears are not slotting perfectly. There is a resistance in all gears above second. Like gears are not engaging properly i wants to adjust the throttling to engage the gears. And one thing is i felt that the clutch becoming hard when turning the handle bar to right side, like the clutch cable is stretching.
PS: i tried to do clutless upshift. It was perfect , no problem at all.

since you mentioned in the prev post about the clutch feel while turning the bars, go ahead and also inspect the clutch cable routing and for anything obviously wrong.. maybe a new clutch cable if required.
clutch-less up-shifting is not for everyone and you might end up doing more harm than good. stick to the conventional shifting method.

Gotcha. Your cable is kinked just as I explained earlier. If you feel cable stretch when you turn the handlebar, this would strain the clutch cable and worse snap the cable when you least expect. Also a kinked cable would mean grabby shifts as you're facing, because the leverage isn't enough for the clutch to engage and disengage properly. Get your clutch cable replaced and make sure it's routed properly so that there aren't any kinks in the cable. The fact that the you're having trouble upwards of second is a prime factor. Keep your observations posted.

Thanks guys . I will get that checked. Actually i am using unicorn 150s clutch cable now. Because of the raised handle bars. But my doubt is i rode nearly 500kms with out any problems. This issue started only few days back. What will be the reason?

Had a peculiar issue with the CBR, was starting from a signal and the bike switched off - it just wouldn't crank inspite of switch off & on the engine kill switch or the key. Had my heart in the mouth and I just put into neutral and it started. Is this how it's supposed to be? Had similar issues in the past twice it so, but once I twisted the handle, it kind of sorted out.

Wouldn't the bike start at times, if it's not in neutral?

A good friend BB had shared the contact of Royal Moto Accessories shop opposite Turyaa hotel in OMR. The shop has become an RE exclusive and they don't service other bikes. Chatted with some RE owners there and had a good time.

The shop owner shared another shop within a kilometer radius, again called Royal automobile accessories - next to the BP pump (500 m from Turyaa towards Perungudi) opp Saravana Bhavan, who also happens to be an ex staff of this RE shop.

Went there in the afternoon and unfortunately the shop was closed. Used the time to visit the RE showroom and check out the 650 twins and a Himalayan though no TDs are available at the moment.

. If the bike is not starting in gears but only starting in neutral . It will because of the faulty clutc switch. Quite common problem. I will only cost around 20rs

Hello CBR owners, I'm buying a second hand CBR250R ABS 2017 version this month. I have one bike in sight, which is a black colour CBR with the golden decals. As I can't be choosy of the colour in the second hand market, I have no other option as I'm getting a good deal on the bike.

But I hate the golden stripes on the fairing and what I wanted to ask is can I remove those decals safely? And How?

Next query is, I love the new decals on the 2018 BS4 version. As my bike would be black I want to know where can I get the white stickers/decals on the RED colour fairing and the Yellow colour fairing?

Also, if there is a CBR group in Mumbai, I would love to be added in it.

Hello All, I found these in my bike. Are these oil leaks?

They were greasy to touch and did not seem to be constantly leaking.

                              Please advise...

                                Hello people,

As I was looking for a second hand CBR250R ABS, I have got a lead in Pune, which is May 2017 registered and has run ~1000 kilometers and the owner is quoting 1.4L first time without negotiations. Maybe I am downright lucky to get such a super deal or there is something fishy (can't help but have second thoughts). Anyway, I am going to see the bike this Sunday, and will be taking a friend who owned a CBR in the past and a CBR mechanic along with me so that I get to know everything that's wrong and right about the bike.

Still, do we have any links for "PDI" for a second hand bike? Maybe in a printable format?

Also, I will be generously undertaking the maintenance schedules and everything that will keep the CBR in pristine condition for years to come, but as you all are very experienced in this sector, do we have some 'hatke' tips to go that extra mile in taking care of the CBR?

Also, if there is any CBR group in Mumbai, I would love to be connected to them.

P.S: Sorry if the above points are covered in this thread, a big exam is staring at me right in the face and I won't be able to take out time to read every single word in this thread right now. (Even if I wanted to)
