    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Hello everyone, recently many of my friends have been riding my CBR. As most of them are used to riding usual commuter motorcycles, they have no experience of riding CBR. Now, we all know CBR lacks low end torque. My friends being new to this, they are shifting up very frequently for which they are either stalling the bike or continuously a "khat khat" sound is coming from the engine which is happening due to the bike being ridden in high gears at low rpm.

I am worried if this continues it will affect the engine in long run. It may be psychological but I am feeling as if bike has lost its smoothness and gear shifting has become hard.

Can somebody please clarify my doubt?

I have no personal experience with the CBR but I'll share the general opinion. What most people have learnt is to upshift as soon as possible, which in their opinion will give more mileage and reduce strain on the engine – absolute BS. An engine will give the best mileage and be least strained when in the ideal RPM range. They try to upshift and reach the top gear as soon as possible. This is made worse by the sporty exhaust note of the higher cc bikes which they mistake for engine strain.

A simple thing you can do is tell your friends to shift above a specific RPM. Better still, you take them for a ride and demonstrate them when to shift gears. A simple instruction would be to tell them to stay one gear lower than they'd usually be in.

Engines are built robust and must take these stresses. But abusing long term can damage the engine.

I immediately went to a nearby service center today and showed them the pictures. The mechanic says it is not unusual and that the O-Rings have to be replaced. It is probably a job of 30 minutes to 1 hour.

What surprises me is that the bike is just 6 months old!!!

But i will do what you asked me to. I am curious myself to investigate this.

            Thanks again

            Hello,

Adding to my earlier observations I noticed something else this morning.

That area in the picture shows something jutting out of the engine head. Is that the gasket or the O ring?
Again is this normal? I am assuming not...

Also I have not been able to test for the leak thereafter because I was travelling for the last few days.

Please advise...Click image for larger version

Yes, the khat khat sound that you're hearing is the result of engine knocking when the ridden at extremely low rpm at high gears and sometimes even low gears. This would in fact strain the powertrain components especially the crank and the piston itself. Make sure the gears are changed over and above 4k RPM for the time being, and then slowly shift higher. Once you get the knack of how she handles, it's all breeze. Is it bad to knock an engine? Yes. Can it be overcome? A definite yes.

Nothing to worry. That's the rubber cover up near the throttle body. The flap that you see is just an extension of it.

                Hey Bangalore Cbr250r riders!

I need a quick favor if anyone sees this. I just rode here from Pune today. After reaching, few things of the bike feel a bit off. Could some direct me to a good svc here that would take a quick look at it?

                Thanks!

From all I can infer from the video, the engine is as it's supposed to be. I didn't hear any radical noises, she was all purring like a kitten. Being a new bike, you will feel some vibrations, once the bike clocks in more, eventually the vibes will be reduced. Mild buzz on the handlebar and footpegs are completely normal, nothing to worry about. How old is your bike, and how much KMS have you clocked till now?

                        Cheers!

Let the bike clock in a few more thousand kays, and during your next oil replacement schedule, replace your engine to Motul 7100/ Shell 10w40 both offer good performance.

My bike has done 42000KM's on odometer and it's a 2015 CBR 250r C-ABS model! But now I'm facing some issue regarding my ABS system! The ABS sometimes works fine and sometimes it stops working (especially when I press the brake hard) and the ABS signal starts blinking! I've tried cleaning the front and rear both ABS rings and tried to align the wheels also but nothing is helping me!

Upon showing the SVC people they're saying that something about the software needs to be done and will cost around 8K. How valid is this?

Please suggest what can I do?

Faulty ABS sensor, either front or rear or the calibration might be out of toss. I'd suggest remove one of your battery terminals for say 10 minutes, then attach and observe if it repeats. If it repeats only on hard braking, we have a sensor failure either in the front or on the back. How old is your bike?
