Shell Super is a better option ..

How do i know it? Coz i used it and now i'm back to shell super
Oh, didn't know that.. Thanks for the info mate! Right now I'm using normal petrol from BP (regular bunk). There aren't many shell outlets in Chennai and the closest one to my place is around 10~15kms awar.. Do you feel any difference in using shell?

All fuel will burn, if not in the cylinder then in the exhaust. There's no such thing as fuel not being fully burned in an engine. Except for an extremely small amount.

Want to know for sure? Fill up with Speed97, get a PuC test done, look for the Hydrocarbons measurement. Now do the same with whatever other fuel you're interested in, again get PuC done, compare the measurements. I'm sure there will be little or no difference.
Is it okay to use speed 97? What you say does make some sense but I'm not clear on the topic yet..

Any type of fuel not burning completely is utter non-sense. What you're interested in is octane rating. Meaning does my bike knock when using a certain type of fuel. Higher octane ratings won't hurt, they will not help either if you engine doesn't specifically require them.

In short use what ever fuel makes your bike run smoothest.

And remember lots of people will claim something or the other, like such and such fuel will not burn properly or it will give much better mileage (like double), without ever backing it up with anything more than: "I sat on my bike drove it and my gut feeling suddenly turned into a fact."

Thanks a lot mate! I will give speed97 a try once I find out where I get it! Have you felt any difference in using speed97 when comparing it to normal petrol? As far as tyre air is concerned, which is better nitrogen or normal air?

One I don't own a ceeber, I have a p220, so I can't comment what's the best for this particular bike. However, it should run properly on nearly any good quality fuel you can get in India. Honda would have considered octane rating carefully while designing the engine.

Two I use Power, but that's no reason to promote it as the best fuel. Try a few good fuel bunks and see which one gives the best results.

As for air vs nitrogen. Air is 78% nitrogen. The rest is oxygen, argon and carbon-dioxide. Filling air should not give any significant difference, as long as it's reasonably dry air.

I was thinking of replacing the rear tyre to the one that is available in r15 v2.
            profile is 130/70 in 17.
would that be alright? Since its a softer compound and offers greater grip and balance.

            @ranjith
I also observe u have modified the rear fender of your bike. I was thinking of a fender eliminator. Can i get better Pictures of the modified rear fender?
Im hoping the lower profile will compensate for the wider tire.No good options in the 140/70.and the KTM's looks to be good.
Anyone with any experience on the 150.60 on the CBR pls let me know

and nope my rear fendor is stock

Well... I have used it, when i opened up the engine for the shim job to be done, the mech and i noticed red color markings (obviously from speed 97) and also the engine oil had turned red from the sediments from fuel..

Try it... test it.... and talk.... simple....

and yeah well said, lot of people will claim something, without backing up and blah blah blah..

If you need some pointers for August, you could check my last years trip log http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/1...ld-ladakh.html
This was on a 220 with my wife as pillion and in terrible weather conditions.

There was hardly any slush at Rohtang compared to last year. Barely a 50m stretch where as last year it was 10 km of struggle. In August, it might be raining so the slush could be a bit more. The biggest problem i faced with the CBR was in the gravel. The stock tyres are pathetic on sandy gravel. Apart from that, be careful of the engine guard - mine cracked when it hit a rock in a water crossing in zozila. The radiator is gonna get extremely dirty and a toothbrush is compulsory for cleaning it.
Thanks for the inputs Mik.So you dint carry fuel on any stretch.Point taken about the tires,Will be careful when riding on gravel.Mine is the ABS version so braking on gravel should be safer when in a straight line at least,I hope.

Another query being,Did u get the air filter cleaned there during the ride?Is it required and Do the mechanics there have the expertise to carry out the job on the CBR?

BTW your travelogue on the 220 was amazing, hope we get similar weather during our ride

Really!!!!! thats a great news if it really happens. BTW, the prices in Delhi were dropped after a few days of increase. What I mean is before the increase in price normal petrol was Rs.65.66, it increased to Rs.73.xx and currently it is Rs.70.xx. Can we expect more reduction?

Oh, according to the local news channel's in Chennai, it seems that petrol prices are likely to be slashed by Rs.4/litre!! But ultimately, I would not be surprised if a litre of petrol costs Rs.100. One day it will happen!
