Re: Honda CBR 250R
Yes 6k. But the oil became foul dark in about 1000 kms. Oil filter replacement is 12 k kms I guess. If you see the older oem manual, both w30 and w40 grades are mentioned.Originally posted by Manan View PostHow long? per manual oil is to be replaced every 6000 KM with the filter replaced and the oil strainer cleaned along with the normal service.

oil getting dark is absolutely fine. however the oil should maintain the stickiness all the way. dont worry however to be on safer side for the 1st 3 services change oil at 5000km and
OIL filter yes 12k interval and same is for the air filter.
post 20k once warranty is done shift to shell ultra and drain interval of 5500 works well for long run"A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

Yes, oil should get dark. I was alarmed since the colour at 800kms looked like it had done 3k. I change oil myself for all vehicles I own. The oil taken out somewhat made me uneasy.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postoil getting dark is absolutely fine. however the oil should maintain the stickiness all the way. dont worry however to be on safer side for the 1st 3 services change oil at 5000km and

Anyways, mine is out of warranty, so iam on R4 now. The engine shows no strain and is eager to spin than compared to the w30. I had my own doubts , but after the change, iam seeing good results. Now iam shifting at 6k or higher without any fear.
I plan to change oil every 2 or Max 3k irrespective of condition.

Gave the bike for polishing and ceramic, my honey's gonna roll out gleaming by tomorrow..[emoji7] [emoji7] [emoji7] [emoji7]
Also gonna try silicone to lube up all the cables, wheel bearing seals, clutch handle rubber sleeve..
Also some Marvel mystery oil for fuel.. and the engine will loooove it!!
Could anyone suggest where I could get luggage carriers please.

first round of R4 to be drained at 500 then 800 and then 2500 would do fine. this would clean up the gunk and would run butter smoothOriginally posted by Foose View PostYes, oil should get dark. MM oil is a very old brand,. was primarily used as fuel additives for airplanes. Used in automobiles also.Originally posted by theironhorse99 View Postfirst round of R4 to be drained at 500 then 800 and then 2500 would do fine. this would clean up the gunk and would run butter smooth

whats the marvel mystery Oil.
It kind of clears off all deposits in fuel and oil system. All gum etc gets dissolved and keeps the fuel system micro fine passages clean, also an anti corrosive.
Used it to lube up the prop pitch rods on many turbo props I worked on.
My experience- Mixed a little with fuel in my Pulsar, and noticed smoother performance. It didn't coke up the plug either.
Used to be imported from US, now available in amazon. Pl look up in YouTube, for usage experience, engine internals condition while opening for rebuild etc.. Mine so far has been good.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hello Guys, 2 months back i bought CBR250R ABS, actully it is a secondhand vehicle (2012,grey) with 18k kms clocked and in good condition, now i have some questions and after riding i have many doubts i need the community's help,
1) there is a rubber covering above engine head which is supposed to cover wiring is touching engine head and wires are also forcing it down, how do i fix it?
2) its an abs version, how many kms after do i need to change brake pads?
3) bike goes to 3 bars easily after reving for 1 km and radiator starts at 7 8 kms if i run hard (its happening since last few days) oil level is perfect coolant is topped up, but there's a layer of dust on engine due to rainy season maybe that's what is restricting air flow
4) i checked average in tank full method, my bike goes 230~ kms untill the last bar blinks is it good or bad?
5) i need spares part list for air filter ,oil filter, sprocket set, engine oil ,spark plug
Please someone help me and clear my worries
Thanks
Jatin

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hi all. So I have got a Suzuki GSX-150/F (Gixxer SF) which I got in October, 2016 and rode it close to 12,000 kms. I am a bit of a leisurely rider and don't commute much in stop go traffic. I mostly find those nice empty stretches in the city, that too after peak hours and ride for fun and relaxation. I occasionally (once in 3-4 months) go on long rides, which are mostly road/ highway tours and don't require off-roading or Adventure -- for which I prefer the Sport Tourers over Adventure Sport.
The CBR250R would have been my first choice but I couldn't afford it, so I settled with the GSX which turned out to be an amazing bike with amazing handling except its a premium faired commuter and has nothing that you need on a Sport Tourer. I have recently decided to upgrade from the GSX as I need more power and things like the 6th gear for cruising, the FI. I have certain requirements that I am very rigid and stubborn about in a bike as I dig perfection over "VFM / Cheap yaaayyyyy". a) Reliability, b) Durability, c) QC, d) Refinement, e) Must be absolutely vibes free (At least, as much is possible for a Single Cylinder) f) Robust Build Quality / Paint and Fit & Finish. These requirements always rule out any Indian manufacturer (so, please don't suggest me the Dominar thank you). Also, I don't like Nakeds and Street Fighters. I like Faired Bikes.
Considering the above, my first choice was strongly between the Ninja 300 and the R3 as I wanted the refinement of a Twin. But budget wise they are much beyond than what I can afford. So I have zeroed down to my first love again. So I ask you guys the following as a prospective new buyer :
a) Does the CBR250R face any competition in this segment based on the requirements I wrote above, if so which one?
b) How is the spare parts availability post the BS-4 discontinuation and the re-introduction as it seems like Honda might have started to treat this bike a little 2nd class and can discontinue it without further thoughts again.
c) As the Government has mandated the move to BS-6 by April, 2020 where does the CBR250R stand then? Will it be discontinued permanently? Or can we expect to see a BS-6 CBR250R which will keep the service network / spare parts availability continued and in abundance?
d) What happens if the hypothetical scenario in c) happens and the BS-4 CBR250R is permanently discontinued. Even though there is a law that mandates spare parts availability for 5 years after a model is discontinued, is it followed in practise? Will it be risky to buy the CBR now considering this fact? I am not someone who would rely digging Aliexpress and try to import the parts or look around 3rd party markets.
e) What is the waiting period for this bike?
f) As I am opting for the non-abs version, do all the latest colour schemes apply to both the non-abs and abs version or are there specifics?
g) Is the fuel tank in CBR250R metal or plastic? Is the bike plasticky or flimsy anywhere or is it a typical Honda?
h) "Controversial". Does the RR310 stands as a worthy successor to the CBR250R when it comes to the requirements I have mentioned above or should I just safely ignore that bike as it is known to have vibes?Last edited by icarious; 08-07-2018, 01:48 AM.Suzuki Gixxer SF Rear Disc + Carburettor Red (28th October, 2016-Present),

Maybe the fazer 250, has all your requirements except the 6th gear and has 2 valves less. Also known to have a bit of vibes but that's negligible.
b) How is the spare parts availability post the BS-4 discontinuation and the re-introduction as it seems like Honda might have started to treat this bike a little 2nd class and can discontinue it without further thoughts again.
I had got my cbr during the bs3- bs4 fiasco .And have owned it during the time when the cbr was not an official product of honda but never have I faced any spares issue.Thing to note is that I stay in Bangalore, not sure about other cities.
c) As the Government has mandated the move to BS-6 by April, 2020 where does the CBR250R stand then? Will it be discontinued permanently? Or can we expect to see a BS-6 CBR250R which will keep the service network / spare parts availability continued and in abundance?
Not sure if the cbr will be discontinued or a bs6 cbr will be introduced , but I am pretty sure the spares availability will not be an issue.Maybe they might not be available outright at the counter but getting them ordered in asc will always be an option.
d) What happens if the hypothetical scenario in c) happens and the BS-4 CBR250R is permanently discontinued. Also I think honda would not launch a product only for 2 years. And it would not be risky as we still get spares for rx now.So you can rest assured for the next 7 to 8 years maybe.
e) What is the waiting period for this bike?
Again this depends on the city and the colour you choose. In bangalore depending on dealer and colour its almost instantaneous.
f) As I am opting for the non-abs version, do all the latest colour schemes apply to both the non-abs and abs version or are there specifics?
You get all colours in both versions.
g) Is the fuel tank in CBR250R metal or plastic? Is the bike plasticky or flimsy anywhere or is it a typical Honda?
The tank is metal. And its not at all plasticky and flimsy. You can safely call it a typical honda.
h) "Controversial". Does the RR310 stands as a worthy successor to the CBR250R when it comes to the requirements I have mentioned above or should I just safely ignore that bike as it is known to have vibes?
Not yet ridden the rr310 so I am not qualified to answer this.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thanks for your answers mate. I can't consider the Fazer25 cause of the lack of the 6th gear and being oil cooled (Not really good thing for extended period of touring in our temperatures). It looks to me more of a premium 250 commuter like the Gixxer SF which I have than being a Sport Tourer even though Yamaha has advertised it otherwise. Thanks for your info on the fuel tank, and I don't like plasticky things. I don't mind it even if it comes at cost of extra weight.Originally posted by Satyajit Samantray View PostAnswers Inline.Hope it helps.Suzuki Gixxer SF Rear Disc + Carburettor Red (28th October, 2016-Present),

From April 2017 to August 2018, I've ridden my CBR for almost 22000 kms. So all of my free services are over.
In this time, I've given my bike to ASC for atleast for 10 times as I keep chain clean n lubed for every 1000 kms.(not a hard thing but don't have paddock stand hence).
Also during this time I've got replaced some parts like break pads, oil filter, both mirrors, oil - coolant change. But except on one occasion, I've never faced the situation where the ASC don't have the required part. N that one occasion, I got the part on next day.
The max time my bike stayed at ASC was 3 days n it happens only once. Mostly I got my bike serviced on the same day.
So I can say even when the CBR wasn't sold by Honda, its parts were easily available. & You don't have to worry also aa Honda have quite a big service center network.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
My CBR ODO is almost at 22000 km mark. Soon it'll reach 24000 km n my next service will come.
I want to know which parts should be replaced at this stage ?
Although the ASC where my bike gets services, is very good but many times I don't feel satisfy on some points. The service manual says to replace parts at some specific kms but SC guy tells me not to worry as the requested part is OK.
My bike is used by me only n my riding style isn't hard. Even on highways I never went above 130, cruising btwn 80-90.
So SC guy convinces me mostly. But still I feel I should pay more attention in it.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
RR310 would be a more aggresive and powerful machine in comparison with CBR. After owning CBR for over 5 years I can tell you spares availability would not be a problem at Kolkata and service cost is under mid-range budget. Now coming to reliability and build quality, except from mirror positioning I don't have any complains and some owners have changed that too according to their taste. Honda is not going to launch(IMO) any 250/300cc in near future at least because they have got everything in CBR which is being launched by other manufacturers in recent past except some cosmetics. Yes I would love to see a slipper clutch on CBR in near future but that will remain a dream I guess.Originally posted by icarious View PostHi all. Finally I would suggest you to go for ABS version. You might regret the Non-ABS model just for few thousands later. Better to save some more money and delay the purchase date a bit. ABS is a huge plus on any motorcycle and in CBR its Dual-Channel which makes a lot of difference in braking.
Check for brake pads, air filter, clutch-acceralator cables. Check chain and srocket carefully as they tend to change chain with this kinda kms on ODO. And if required top-up brake fluid, coolant. Also if possible check for tensioner. I remember my tensioner was changed at 14k kms once, so a checkup might be good to avoid failure on road. And the most importantly if you feel something is not required but still being asked by SVC please captue a photo and post it here for inspection by fellow owners. Trust me, it helps a lot. I got my brake pads changed with almost 30% life left on it by SVC mechanic and I reliased that only after posting here.Originally posted by pinkesh2703 View PostMy CBR ODO is almost at 22000 km mark.
