    Are there other things that could be cross utilized from other bikes? I mean like pads, brake discs, suspension( rear). Mine is a non abs.

    Would also be grateful for any tips and tricks other than those requested above.

      stay away from the mechanical abs contraptions.
      brake pads , the pulsar 220 rear are a direct fit iirc and much much cheaper.
      for peace of mind always buy brake pads from a asc (either bajaj or honda).. lots of fake pads in the local shops (some of these fakes are mostly old pads which are reused by applying cheaper quality friction material)

        Would an aromatic hc like kerosene spoil those o rings?? Also is it true that ep oils won't get past the o rings and only the sprays can?

        Mine already has this issue of the top side of the loop tight and bottom loose. So m not getting a proper adjustment. The asc said it's a kind of ovality of rear sprocket.. he s asking me to replace the whole kit.. not sure what to do. Can't thank you enough for your tips though!!

          True about the O rings, but frankly they're not worth the bother. Using Gear Oil(mostly EP120 or EP140) has given me way better chain life on all my motorcycles compared to that of other users who clean and lube using aerosols. And the funny thing here being that I do not clean my chains, the debris that actually could cause harm usually gets thrown off and whatever debris remains actually helps hold the gear oil in place.

            Even I am facing the same issue, I was told that the chain is bend and the whole kit needs to be changed.Even though the bike has run only 17k kms.The scv guy has done some adjustment but the harshness remains.
            And also I will take this opportunity to clear some doubts that I have.
            I just came back from a trip with very very bad roads and towards the end the handle was pulling towards the left .On slow speeds or sudden braking the front end seemed very unstable and unpredictable. I took it to a local mechanic and he told the the cone set has issues and needs to be changed for temporary measures he loosened it by 2 mm or so.Next day I took it to the svc and they checked the cone set and told it is all fine.Now the problem is the handle does not pull to any side, but on broken roads or emergency braking feels very unstable and unpredictable, also the front feels as if it will slip on slight provocation .
            Any suggestions!! And is it possible that the tyres have been deformed and the side walls have been damaged or become uneven.

              Check front tyre pressure first. Then go for fork alignment test.

                The mechanical type ABS is a chance. If you really intend to get yourself a ABS machine, sell the bike and get yourself an ABS equipped variant. These so called ABS sensors are nothing but pressure controllers with one way check valve, if the valve gets locked under hard braking, the brakes get locked and BAM, they throw you off the bike. An investment that is totally not worth the penny. You can use Pulsar 220s rear brake pads for your rear brake. You can use Pulsar NS 200s steel braided lines for better braking feedback.

                You should definitely throw your legs over the Duke 390. and RE Himalayan, you'd be in for a "warm" welcome. The CBR 250R has by far, to my little knowledge, has one of the best cooling systems in the quarter liter arena, such a beautifully designed system. I say sarcastically, you drive CBR all the way to the moon, with full throttle and the temp bar won't budge three bars, such is the cooling finesse of the CBR 250R.

                The heat you observe is negligible whatsoever, unless your radiator coolant and reservoir coolant levels are not adequate. Do not worry about extra radiator. Make sure your coolant levels are right, make sure your coolant reservoir is pukka.

                    you folks first need to understand what an o ring chain is all about.
                    the O ring is there to seal the grease (which is why they are also called sealed chains) that is already put in to the chain pins during manufacturing.. and it's job is to not let any thru it or muck get in !!
                    one of the purpose of lubing an o ring chain is to keep the o rings supple and from cracking/breaking apart.
                    kerosene is perfectly ok to clean the chain.. and as with any product don't over do/use it.. a little goes a long way along with a rinse with a bit of low pressure water.

                    i can't comment further on the adjustment aspect without looking at the chain/sprocket.. why not get it to another svc and ask them to adjust it.
                    these days the svc are frequently pushing for replacement of parts such as chain/sprockets , brake pads by just looking at the mileage of the vehicle and not the actual condition of the parts.. sometimes they are right because most folks don't maintain the chain well and it goes shot by around 15k km.

                    you will see a few folks around here who easily get at-least 30k km out of a chain with simple maintenance i.e. clean and lube .. me being one of them, and i mostly use used engine oil (i reserve the sprays as a convenience during touring or if riding in the rains, and the brand i use is nulon grease spray)

                      Not a good idea, used engine oil has traces of gasoline in it which is determinant to chain life.

                        tell that to my 33k km chain (stock one that came with the bike) on my d200 .
                        i only changed the front sprocket which had noticeable wear at around 28k km..with one from a p180 (ditto same as d200) for a mere 150 bucks because ktm doesn't sell just the front sprocket.
                        pretty sure i can go till at-least 40k km now.

                        remember gasoline is volatile.. it goes poof!

                          Gasoline goes poof! Pump gas doesn't.

                          The P180/P200/P220/Duke 200(Gen 1, later on 6 point mount sprockets were used at rear) chain kits are interchangeable with the exception of adding/removing links.

                          From where did you manage to source the Pulsar front sprocket? I've tried and failed to source front sprockets individually.

                          My P220 is currently running 14/40 with a ZMA 40T at rear and I kinda love it as the shift from 2.6 to 2.85 ratio has made the motorcycle more usable. ZMA sprockets are available individually and hence if Pulsar sprockets were also available individually then I'd not have to bother about going stock anymore.

                                Regarding use of the Shell Rimula R4 the oil will do good to the engine. Regarding Viscosity doubts, always look at the Kinematic Viscosity which is an indication of how good the oil is under different temps..the lower the numbers the better the flow rate.The Viscosity Index is also an indicator of this..ie., the higher the index number the better.

                                For instance the R4 15 w 40 has kinematic viscosity of 109 @ 40 C and 14.7 @ 100 C

                                The Shell Ultra 4t 10 w 40 FS has a kinematic Viscosity of 98.6 @ 40 C and 15.8 @ 100 C.

                                So both oil are almost same but R4 will flow better at higher temp.

                                The second important thing to note is the Additives in the oil ...

                                The Ultra 4 T 10w40 has Polyolefin amide alkeneamine borate 1~3 %...Alkylphenol 0.1 ~ 0.3 %.

                                The Rimula r4 15 w 40 has Calcium longchain alkaryl sulphonate <1 % ....Zinc alkyldithiophosphate 1~2.4 %....

                                So the Ultra has less of Wear resistance additives and latest Detergents , while the R4 has superior Wear resistant additives and more Detergents to keep the engine clean..

                                The R4 had been tried with good results in many vehicles including Cars. The decision rests with the user..
