also should i go for running this so called OEM oil for 1000km then drain it and pour rimula for next 1000-1500 kms then switch to shell ultra fs with oil filter change every time. senior riders please suggest. thanks in advance
You can use the oil till gear shifts become tough and engine becomes rough with vibes...or till 2,000 Kms whichever occurs early...
For Oil Filter use the Yamaha FZ oil filter which is about 1mm less in height, but has more no of Pleats ie., more folds . This increases the square area of filter and helps in more volume flow and filtering....Shv18 had shared the experience in the General biking thread..."The Story so far"...It is still an Experiment...so wait for further posts for clarifications..

Oil filter change is not required on every oil change. It can be done once in a 10K kms i.e. change the oil filter with your every 2nd oil change.

I was under the impression that the oil filter be changed with every change of oil regardless of condition of the filter. Can anybody clarify?

The manual insists on every alternate oil change, change the filter.

But for peace of mind its good to change while changing oil.

I still saw some metal deposits on the oil filter in my third service, so I do believe that even if the engine has run-in some metal is still getting deposited though very minimal. But why risk keeping the same filter.

Nothing wrong in following the owner manual as well. Honda knows more than us. But for peace of mind folks change the filter at every oil change.

Hope this helps

Cheers,

Replacing the oil filter on every oil change is a good practice to follow irrespective of filter condition. Here's why, first off there ain't no set rule as to observe a filter for it's filtering efficiency after it's been used. Secondly unlike an air filter, which at least can be considered for reuse by examining (though Honda insists on replacing) instead of reusing.

Oil is always under constant stress from engine combustion byproducts, gearbox shearing and what not. It's hard in there. After all a fresh oil and a new engine oil filter is all that hard working motor asks.

And psr sir has beautifully given some tips reducing the filter cost even more, double whammy.

Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Your point is valid. But my svc guy warned me that frequent change of oil filter (say 2000 KMs or so) will get those boltholes to loosen up and it will be then a tedious process to fix it. He said it's sufficient to change at every 10KMs.

I couldn't say anything more.

A small update folks. Have given loan documents and proofs from my side. Loan process should be over in a day or two. The bike was moved from stockyard to showroom. Will do a PDI and then pay initial amount if all is OK. I got the PDI text file from this thread. Are there any other things that I should be aware or check/make sure of before registration? Please suggest if there is any.

Finally took possession of a 2014 Red CBR250R yesterday morning. The bike has done 16k KMs till date.

The bike has been ( possibly ) dropped on the right side, as the fairing have lots of deep scratches ( on which the owner has pasted some matte black stickers on it ) also the glass visor has a sticker on it due to scratches. The right side rear view mirror rattles a bit, and the brake pedal seems to be bent.

Need to get these fixed along with the indicator switch unit - only horn works, indicator switch / pass light does not work.

And get the grab rail's work off paint re-painted to bring the bike back to shape !

Hoping to get these done by this week. Any idea if fairing parts would be readily available with ASC in Chennai? Also, how can I ensure a quality paint job on the fairing parts?

Guys need help for mobile mount on CBR.
I want to use my mobile as gps navigator.
Anybody tried products like rynox, capdase?
All these are easy fit for conventional handlebars and not for clip-on types.
RAM mounts are too expensive.

Any suggestions..

I bought this a weeks back. I'm using it on my NS (Clip-on), it fits well on to the RVM bar easily and the setup time was less than a minute. It secures very tightly and very easy to move around. It also costs cheap, so you can just trash it if you don't like it. But secure your mobile with a moble strap for safety (This applies to all costly holders as well, you never know)

You need to get hold of this : It cost me only 315rs. But the price range will be around 300 - 550rs depending on seller.

search on ebay,snapdeal etc.

The pic shows it to be attached to rear view mirror stem. But for the cbr and duke we can attach it to the nut on the clutch yoke. Its more like a universal mount that can be fixed on almost any bike.
@theironhorse99 uses this on his cbr250r
I use it on my duke
And I know a couple of others who use it on their cbr's(150/250)

Someone even seems to have set it up on the clip on screws at the base! http://www.amazon.in/product-reviews/B00J5CKTSW

It hold up very well.. only drawback,it doesnt have a water-proof case.

I wouldn't know about this, but I read here about replacing the drain bolt crush washer, which doesn't seem to be commonly done by SVCs, maybe there is some similar measure that should be followed, but isn't?

Considering the price it's an overkill..but still why do you need the quickshifter unless you are very serious about track riding ?
