Dear aargee,Originally posted by aargee View PostAnytime saar; if you come across any request to post (which you've been doing) the details as I'm in the process of buying one too. BTW, what's on your ODO?
I will inform you if I get one.
My odo reading is 3300, yet the tyres are still *****y. Come to think of it, this the FIRST time that I have had problems with tyres per se on any of the vehicles that I have owned. These Continentals are really atrocious rubber for a bike like the CBR.
One query, if you please. I have read a lot of shim-related issues. What are the symptoms which indicate that shim replacement is necessary?
ThanksLast edited by icemang; 05-21-2012, 01:53 PM.

- Too much vibes that makes an extent of your fingers go numb
- Abnormal noise apart from regular engine sound
- Loss of top end (but this one is extreme & is usually found to be defective with other components such as cam, chain tensioner etc)Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
Awareness + Skill is what keeps you out of harm's way

Damn Honda! Yesterday - the bike overheated and the coolant leaked out in front of the showroom guys. Now - called them up and they are saying - Sir there is no issue - we have checked. I told them that the problem occured right in front of their eyes. He said " Sir dekh lete hai phir se.. par koi problem mili nahi"Originally posted by Mik View PostWas having overheating issues after buying my CBR 6 days back. Today - went for a 100Km ride to check if it really was an issue. While on the highway - the temperature stayed at 3 bars consistently. The problem started in stop-go traffic - 5 bars.
Took the bike to the showroom, kept the engine at idle and called the manager out. Revved it a little and the temperature gauge shot upto 6 bars!
And then - the coolant leaked out
The manager said - tension lene ki zarurat nahi.. aap le jaao ghar -- kal le aana.
I said - apne mehnat ke paiso se li hai bike - kyun na lu tension.
Kept the bike at the showroom and asked them to fix the issue before they give it to me.
---Lets just hope these are early jitters and the CBR doesn't disappoint
This is heartbreaking.

Is, handle bars vibrating, a sure sign of shims problem as my ceeber has been making these kind of vibrations from day one, infact everytime i ride my hands go numb after 10 - 15 mins of driving..!
i havent noticed any abnormal noice from engine so far...although on my return trip from Bhopal to Pune half-way, I did notice a strange sound like "thud thud thud" coming from around the chain area when i was slowing down with gear control...it disappeared when I rode the bike the next day..!
as far as top end I was able to touch 148 on NH3 with some juice left ,,but recently while riding double i was gradually accelerating in 6th gear from 70 up.. n that time i thought it lacked power..

showroom as in Sec14 Gurgaon is both the showroom and service center :-)Originally posted by Rahul Rods Tewathia View Postshowroom

Have been pursuing with them since morning. Have dropped off a feedback on the official site contact form as well. If they can't diagnose it - will contact some honda officials.
EDIT: Do let me know which is the most recommended Honda ASC in Delhi. Thinking of getting my first service done from them.

What I'd suggest is, try a different CBR from any of your trust worthy friend for a long ride (say over 100 Kms) & feel the experience. Then you can easily conclude if the issue is specific with your CBR or not. I wouldn't recommend to show it to ASC first as they're likely to knock off your issue OR cause more troublesOriginally posted by abhinavcrytek View PostIs, handle bars vibrating, a sure sign of shims problem as my ceeber has been making these kind of vibrations from day one
RIDING; well...numbness should not happen ideally, not sure if this happens as you're a new rider.Originally posted by abhinavcrytek View Postinfact everytime i ride my hands go numb after 10 - 15 mins of driving..!Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Honda ASC seem to be the cause for many CBR 250 problems...most owners either complain of issues not fixed or fresh issues after an ASC visit...time to consolidate the data and jointly represent in numbers with HMSI.
Or else start sharing experience and Seniors with Knowledge can help out with DIYs to take care of small issues, that does not need ASC intervention.Last edited by psr; 05-21-2012, 07:00 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Same at my place as well. They just don't do it well as one wants. But they just do it because they are told to do so.Originally posted by psr View PostHonda ASC seem to be the cause for many CBR 250 problems...most owners either complain of issues not fixed or fresh issues after an ASC visit...time to consolidate the data and jointly represent in numbers with HMSI.

I mean rating would be like 5 out of 10. And that's why I prefer to change or get things set in my presence.
Or I prefer doing things my self which are possible.:) :D

...In the last 6 years I have done Indore - Bhopal (around 200kms one way) on my CBZ ..but never faced such issues ..
..first i thought it was because of the fwd inclined stance but should have gotten used to it by now
...

Heya guys, is it a good idea of to go for a used CBR 250R? I've been thinking of swapping my bike for a refined tourer as the Ceeber. Currently I use the 220 and I've long thought of swapping the bike and going for the Duke 200. But then I wanted something practical and a perfect all rounder without a budget pinch.
I can go for a new one, but is it really worth going for a used one? Any thoughts whatsoever would be helpful. Thanks again
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END
