  • Engine kill

    Dear Friends
    Update first :-
    a) I got my bike serviced on 14th day after it had completed 1080
km(ASC didnt have oil in stock so had to ride it for 2 days).
    b) I was overseeing the engine oil and filter change, chain tightening and
headlight and gear lever adjustment. other things were fine.

The only glitch was while washing they had covered up the radiator with cardboard which they forgot to remove and I forgot to check As I drove off after servicing, I got this feeling that bike was not smooth and it was heating up. Upon glancing down the fairing the cardboard was still there so stopped and removed while I had travelled around 300 meters from the ASC

The bike is running smooth now as ever and am Happy.

    The Issue.

Lately I have noticed an issue though.

Premise:- I cover up my bike with huge XXL size Bike cover as I dont
have Under shed Parking. I do start bike in the morning or
anytime If the bike is parked above 5 hrs and wait for 2-3 min for engine to heat up.

The issue is :- Bike Engine switches/shuts off by Itself while there is no warning, no
stalling and I have drag her get her in Neutral and switch off
the bike by key and restart and it does fine. Now this has
happened twice that too at lower speeds 40 kmph while in
bumper traffic whith clutch pulled in.
There was no lean etc which can shut the engine automatically, it shows speed, lights are ON, everything works except the Engine.

I seem to remember some one faced this Issue can Anybody please throw some light of what this issue is or maybe/maynot be an Issue?

    Regards

You best take it back to d ASC. It could be because water had entered into ur fuel tank under pressure. Happened once in my friends FI bike.. but its hard to comment.

      • Anybody here replaced their exhaust shield with a chrome/silver exhaust shield?
I was told its part of the accessories with the carbon body panels etc.

Also how much does a stock exhaust shield cost?
I need to get a new one now that my stock shield has a dent and a couple of scratches after the Gate Fiasco a few minutes ago.
        Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Nithesh, if not severely damaged, you can consider it getting covered with a carbon fiber look sticker.. I have seen many guys do that here and it did look good.. Costed around Rs.150-200. Mine has a dent too and i am thinking of getting it done once i start riding again
You gotta risk it.. to get da biscuit !!!

@aargee&All: Need some info for a friend who is interested in the CBR for touring:
What speed does the bike do at the following RPM: 7K, 8.5K, also need the speedo indicated top speed&average mileage on 4 lane riding speeds with average speed maintained as an indicator.
                    Thanks in advance.

while return we did it around 80-85 and it returned around 42-43 for my bike and 40-41 for another cbr..

                              • Guys, my bike makes a sort of knocking sound when I release the throttle in 2nd or 3rd gear.. even when I ride a bit slow suddenly in those gears from some constant speeds.. its a mild knock, or kind of "tak" sound.. Is this common in all bikes? I have this issue from the first day..
