try to figure out if its the front sprocket or the engine.. new sprockets do make a lil noise like tak when pulling or releasing throttle as engine braking is lil harsh and also the grooves are new on the sprockets.

how many km on the odo ?

I think you have answered ur own question there.

However to be sure of the cause, where do you hear it from? Engine area or the exhaust side?

Knocking may also come if an adulterated petrol filled in the bike ....

Must be your riding style. What happens if you shift gears past 5K RPM in every gear? Does the knock still happen?

It happens after 2.5rpm till around 5 rpm in 2nd and 3rd gears usually.. In 2nd gear, when I ride slowly in muddy roads around 3-4rpm usually for say 5 seconds, then if I release the throttle, then I get that mild knock..

5K RPM is concern; but what happens beyond?

                      • Somebody on a popular Car and bike TV show had asked questions about running in procedure for CBR 250R. I was amazed to hear the guys advise. He said ride below 2.5 k rpm and do not exceed 80 kmph!!

IMO 2.5 k rpm is too less and poor guy will end up lugging the engine!! Why can't they just read the owner manual??

                        • Hi...

Just wanted to share my experience ..
I got my bike serviced & got the air and oil filter changed recently.
Post the service started noticing that the engine was mis timing .. I mean the even though I was pushing the throttle .. the bike was feeling sluggish.
So again had to give the bike to the service station... But this time around .. they kept the bike for almost three days at the end of which they said that they had changed the sims (not sure how its spelled).
But the problem still persisted .
So went in again and this time around was with them while they wer checking the electricals.. and the new installed air filter.

After amost 3 hours they finally decided to check the tank and the Fuel pump.. turns out the filter in the pump had some dust which was causing the mistiming ....

Hope this is useful if anyone is facing such an issue.

250cc engine at a speed of 80-85kmph gives 40+ then all 150cc should die instantly!!! MY R15 gives this figures in these range!!!

Still can belive it's a true one!!!

In muddy roads, when I am bound to go slow, should I switch to 1st gear instead? I usually go in 2nd gear with half clutch and then releasing it. Am I doing wrong? I can't go beyond 20kmph in such roads.. So was going in 2nd gear..

                              Knock or jerk?
It's like a mild jerk actually.. with a mild "tak" or "dsh" sound.. Can't spell that sound..

If its 1st gear fine, 2nd gear, sorry can't test & confirm now

Sry, I can't understand the issue completely...but the point is...
                                - if its a jerk, then the issue is with releasing the clutch
                                - even if its after releasing the clutch fully & then there's a jerk, then either the RPM is too low & throttle is opened abrupt OR there's really an issue with clutch

Best option for you to is to choose the same road, but a different CBR & try it out with a friend. If the issue doesn't happen to you, then its the issue with your CBR.
