1> there is sudden vibration exactly at 3k rpm and disappears at 3.5k .
these are not those shrill vibes but more like bike is building torque
the left RVM literally shakes and thats it.

2> to check the oil level correctly through the glass does it needs to be
on the paddock or just holding it upright.

3 > the manual says the chain slack to be 1 inch.. again same query.
1 inch slack while its on the stand or while its on both feet.

4> how often chain needs to be lubed and what to buy to lube it for
i cant visit the showroom frequently.

few questions might have been repeated before however its close to a 1000 page thread. getting difficult to search. please help me with pointers about the queries.

and yes the bike is new. 4 days old now done with 200 kms and just once crossed 4.5k rpm mark that too only till 6k.
its a 250 trocolour non abs.

1> for just 200km it is too early to fix....let it score some more KMs.....What I gather its not a problem.

4> Chain needs clean + lube in between 1000km interval in normal weather, but for rainy season the interval must be short, else if the chain feels/act dry need to lube which can be done by visual examine/touching.

Else whenever you feel chain become dry+dirty, u can clean & lube....just don't overdo it.

Try to use a good cleaner & lube.

another query is that when the bike deaccelerate after setting the chair it still makes noise. like a constant er-er-er sound .. is it normal ?

what was that. A vibe in between 3-3.5K. One couldn't even notice such a vibe in millionth of a second. Jokes Apart. For my bike there's always a less frequency vibes all around the rpm which is not high so couldn't check for the specified rpm's.

2> to check the oil level correctly through the glass does it needs to be

            Hold it upright.

1 inch slack while its on the stand or while its on both feet.

Side stand AFAIK and I check like that. Wait for others comment.

Normal conditions 1K is what's recommended. I use to clean and lube at 500kms and depends on the weather too.

              +100.

I have come to same opinion after I did my Tricolor STD's first service last week. Before giving to service I had only 1 issue and that was overheating near the engine area which I guess is normal for new bikes and for those who are not used to liquid cool engines like me. But after svc (at vihaan honda, thane) I had 3 major issues.
              • Firstly my silencer plate (heat shield) which was in mint condition was terribly scratched with marks of corrosion due to oil/diesel and had bent on the broader end. It was my foolishness and bad luck that I somehow didnt notice it while taking the delivery from svc. I could only spot it when I reached home and parked it. Yes I know its hard to believe that how I could not see scratches on such a big plate but then "SHIT HAPPENS" !
              • Secondly the horn which was working fine before the svc, suddenly started malfunctioning. Its like loose contact that sometimes it works and sometimes it not. I guess they didn't cover it while washing my bike.
              • Thirdly, my fairing's lower bolts were missing. I could hear some faint vibes above 80kmph but never knew it was due to this. On Sunday when I was washing my bike, I noticed this and was so annoyed that how could the mechanic forget to put bolts back. This is utter carelessness.

After all this and more, I am even fearing that some of my bike's part may have got changed with old cbrs due to negligence of svc. All these issues started just after the svc which makes me think why the heck I traveled all the way from Andheri to Thane to just get the bike washed and oil changed. No doubt the bike has turned smooth but at the cost of these issues. I am now very afraid to give my bike again for svc. This time I had planned to be in the svc till the job is done but the mechanic turned up 2 hours late and told it will take him whole day. I could not argue and had to turn back home for lunch. Next time onwards if at all give my bike to svc I will make sure its done in front of my eyes.

HMSI should take keen notice of this pathetic situation that too in metros like Mumbai and take strict action. Is this why we paid such a premium amount .. to get our bikes screwed by hands of unskilled/careless mechanics ?

              • Though I am not an owner of a CBR, but would like to share a information with CBR owners...I had seen that HMSI is using DOT 3 brake fluid(Pinkish Red) for front Disc brake hydraulics...The improved DOT 4(Clear liquid) has many advantages including lower moisture absorption, better thermal capacity, and better stability under pressure. Changing your Front brake system to DOT 4 will give better brake performance Over long time....change older DOT3 every 10,000 Kms or one year whichever is earlier...

I suggest you write to HMSI and always keep a copy for your records. It is necessary that your experience be brought to their notice ,so that in future you or other owners do not face such issues..

a big thanks to all the folks solving my queries.

regarding the vibes yes slight vibe is present at all rpm but this particular vibe i stated is very visible. i dont feel the vibes in the clip-ons or the body just that while accelerating slowly or changing gear and the rpm falls and build again.. between 3k -3.5k the left rvm shakes as if its loose and gets back to normal. i have checked the fairing and the RVM and looks like tightened properly. maybe the first service will change a few things.

bike is damn good and yes the new engine is heating more but that's normal.

i have seen people changing headlamp to philips clearvision.
approx cost for the same and what type of bulb holder is for the CBR.

led's and maybe bi-xenon in coming months..

Sir, you can completely give the reference stating you did that on my CBR & needless to say, the results are simply amazing.

Based on your suggestion, I bleeded that on my Rx & I'm scared as hell!!! Reason? The brakes are more than razor sharp & I only need to use a single finger. YES...A SINGLE finger & I see myself moving forward due to that sharpness.

DOT4 is the way to go!!!

                      • STD comes with DOT3 fluid, while ABS comes with DOT4 as default. There might be a reason for this, for the company to mindfully suggest DOT3 on Standard version. Can there be any possible explanation or reason for this?

Happy to hear that you are having a good experience with the DOT4 brake fluid....Dot 3 absorbs more moisture and deteriorates ,making the braking weak and spongy..

Bleddy cost cutting is what I can think off!!! I literally hate Honda for doing such nonsense things. You don't want to know how else those morons cut costs. I'll save that for another day when we meet as whenever I think of those, I go

Want to know more of their nonsense practices? CBR 150R is direct import from Thailand, worldwide the engines are same (w/o rocker arms) & no component made in India; for 250R, they changed the complete engine as such

ABS works by accurately correcting the brake pad pressure by reading the rotational pulses from the wheel..it needs speed, and reliability over many application and time...so a DOT 4 is the obvious choice..
As for the Std version such reaction time is not there and so for cost cutting HMSI might have used DOT3.....just my thought
