  • Dear CBR owners, I'm left with a mixed feeling whether to update the price of CBR spares on post #8200 , for a simple reason...
    1. VAT prices are different across city
    2. Prices of spares might also differ across city & most importantly subject to change & the accuracy might be lost with time

If you guys think to leave the prices there, so be it, otherwise, I can remove them. Also pls help contribute to consolidate the prices of spares. Tks.

    • Aargee, i feel, let the prices be there.. Even if the prices change or difference in taxes, that would be some reference for someone who takes the pain to search. Atleast for someone like who was told the chain & sprocket kit would cost above 7K..
For tyre prices, i have seen a vast variation in prices in Mumbai itself.. So dont think thats much helpful.. But yes still can be used as a reference point.
Is there a way you can put up links to these posts in your signature??

Yes, but I don't really feel comfortable doing that, though several friends insisted

Whatever you got on the tire pricing, pls update, it can help few others a foundation & might come up better pricing when they're on the hunt for one.

Let's see what other's got to say on the spares pricing.

        • Tyre prices around Mumbai (not entire Mumbai but these are the places and prices i remember)
Continental Contigo Rs.2400 (Mira road- Baba tyres, Perfect Associates)
Dunlop Tuff grip Rs.2700 (same place as above) and Rs.2900 @ AH helmets, Andheri (it was 2750 about two weeks ago)
Pirelli SD- Rs.3.5-4k but very few stock it now due to warranty and ISI issue. (AH helmet can source it and stocked the PSD front)
Mrf zapper Q - Around Rs.3500-4000 but again very rarely available

This looks like done intentfully though.. Did you try to guage how deep it is? If not much, dont worry and move on.. If there are any cracks on the grooves, then it may need attention..

There is nothing you can do, rush back to your ASC, engage yourself as a tyre warranty claim......it's a manufacturing defect.

Talk to service-in-charge, he will guide you..... don't blast on them, you need to make good rapport with them to get good service in future.

                • Hello guys!
Having rode my CBR only in my town for more than two weeks and clocking about 211km I thought that I would go on the highway and clock a few more km before my first servicing.
On Sunday morning at about 5.30 am I started off from Karimnagar to Hyderabad, 160km away, to meet Theironhorse and compare notes for our planned Pan India trip in September. I had two bars of petrol in the tank (filled the tank on 11th after taking the delivery 11lts) and planned to fill her on the way with 97 octane (speed) as advised by Theironhorse. When the odo was showing 281 had one bar (not blinking) I turned into a bunk for petrol and filled 300Rs (3.7ltr) worth as they had no high octane petrol! Through out the ride up to Hyderabad I never crossed the barrier of 70 km/5000 rpm. Then I reached Hyderabad (after running few errands) joined Theironhorse at 11am with odo showing 380 and both had first glimpses of each other"s CBR mine Black (11th May) and his Tricolor (18th May). Then after discussing about gear to be purchased we both together went about the city on both the bikes for about two hours running errands bid adios to him and at about 5.30 when the odo was showing 431 and had one bar left (not blinking) I filled her to the brim (again No high octane!) I left Hyderabad and rode back to Karimnagar being careful not to cross the 5000 rpm and reached at 8.30pm. With odo showing 581 I straight rode into a bunk and filled her up again and to my surprise it was filled to the brim after filling ONLY 3ltr of petrol So here is my FE
1 11th May 11.0 lts Tank full Odo 7 km
                  2 27th May 3.7 lts Odo 281 km
3 27th May 9.1 lts Tank full Odo 431 km
4 27th May 3.0 lts Tank full Odo 581 km
Total petrol filled 26.8 or 27 lts minus 10 lts in the tank (excluding 3 lts in reserve) is 17 lts consumed 581 / 17 = 34.17 per ltr
First 211 km were completely ridden in the town hardly going beyond fourth gear. When driven at speeds not crossing 60-70 km on the highway 431 to 581 it returned a FE of 50 km a liter!

As this was my first long ride on a bike with lean forward posture I felt a little discomfort, but when I rode sitting close to the tank so as to gain an as mush an upright sitting posture as possible the ride became much better (5.10"/ 93kg) The seat can take a little padding to make ride a little cushy. The soft suspension makes the ride very comfortable though cornering becomes a bit hairy because of it. Had no issue with braking (ABS) as I did not have to resort to any panic braking. Head lights I felt were adequate though the beam was enveloping it was a going a bit high which I need to lower a trifle.
CAUTION: While riding wearing a shoe with lace pls tuck the laces as they may get entangled with gear lever or brake lever
So long guys. Apologies for the loooong post. Wanted to share!

                    • 6th gear @ 5000 rpm is lugging the engine ?? the bike hover at 80 at 5k rpm and 6th gear.

6th gear at 4000 rpm will sure be lugging however it feels comfy at 5k.

what rpm you suggest for 6th gear optimal usage.

if we are just strolling around the empty road at 5k rpm in 5th gear the speed falls quickly.

guys from hyd.. need help regarding some vinyl.
please help who would be able to provide carbon fibre vinyl. i want to wrap the grey plastic between the tank and fairing with carbon fibre vinyl. and the under engine plastic.

missing CBR for a week ?? what happened ??

i was confused for i went ahead with this post of yours and thought that 5k @6th is good :

                          5k 82-83.
                          70 is around 4.4k
                          63 @4k

this was the reference from you :

                          Q. Why only 6th? What about other gears?
                          A. In any gear, DO NOT lug the engine OR over rev the engine. Lugging is the state in which the engine runs on lower speed in higher gear & revving is viceversa. Run at adequate speed & optimal gear. This is only an example & not necessary to be followed...
Gear shift 1-2 at 3000-3500 RPM
                          2-3 at 3300-3600 RPM
                          3-4 at 3800-4400 RPM
                          4-5 at 4200-4800 RPM
                          5-6 at 5000-5800 RPM
and do a quick gear shift; this means, do not keep holding the clutch for longer time duration when shifting the gear.
Always remember...you can even rev the engine occasionally, but never EVER LUG the engine

I usually give them ample time so that, they don't screw up my bike & give lame excuse on time crunch, especially this time; don't ask me more
