Re: Honda CBR 250R
Listening this noise from past 1 month. If I start the bike in morning then engine sounds normal. But as I accelerate Khan Khan noise starts.Originally posted by hgps View Postdoes it come at an specific RPM, or when you slowly accelerate from high gear/low rpm, or when you go over a bump? please be more specific
As far I know, this noise starts in low rpm, in higher rpm, it's hard to listen.
Also if I start the bike after 2-3 hours, the noise starts directly, without any acceleration.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys need a little help. One of my friend has started a petition to Honda India to bring CBR250RR to India. He owns a Honda CBR250R. Won't take much of your time but enough signs may certainly make them think a little on this. Won't take much of your time. http://chng.it/PDddFVMfjB
Please sign if you think right about the petition. Thanks!Na tha kuch to khuda tha, kuch na hota to khuda hota, duboya mujhko hone ne, na main hota to kya hota!

I'd go for CBR any day but tailbox got me thinking. How about a Dominar? Or Suzuki 250Originally posted by Thim View PostHi Guys,
How is CBR250r when compared against Himalayan. I am looking for a bike for long touring with good riding comfort for rider as well as pillion with the saddle bags and tail box mounted.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Dominar is great as a tourer from the reviews that I have seen. I havent test ridden but have seen one in the showroom (2019 version). It didnt feel as solid as a himalayan and not sure if it can last longer. Some of the dominars I have seen on the road already looks very old.Originally posted by Neo77k View PostI'd go for CBR any day but tailbox got me thinking. How about a Dominar? Or Suzuki 250
Suzuki 250, not sure and I feel it doesnt have the upright stance which is ideal for long distance touring. I could be wrong here.

For the Suzuki and Dominar both, I'd suggest you take a test drive first.Originally posted by Thim View PostDominar is great as a tourer from the reviews that I have seen. Also note both of these machines are much newer compared to CBR250 available in India.
As far as longevity goes, sure Himalayan is mostly metal but I've seen Dominars used for touring and maintained well. They're still as crisp as day 1. I myself got an RS200 and I use it for my occassional short rides like 250-300 KM's round trips. It acts as my sports tourer.
The price range also brings in Jawa (not gonna be delivered this year), UM renegades (heard of quality issues) and RR310 from TVS but that isn't exactly a touring machine, people managed it but I won't recommend it for touring with pillion.
Do let us know what you decide.
Happy riding

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Recently completed my spiti trip alongwith my betterhalf as a pillion..
Though the motorcycle managed to complete ghe ride. Here are some issues i have faced.
1. While ascending the Hatu Peak near Narkanda with a pillion the Bike decided not to climb from standstill and allow us to fall. Something which never happened during Ladakh and while ascending Khardungla.
2. I have changed the tyre for this trip - 140/70/17 Ralco Speedblaster.
And 100/80/17 mrf zapper fx1 for front.
Though the Ralco manage the offroad as well as cornerning well. But it still doesnot give that much of a confidence like a Metzeler or a Pirelli Diablo Rosso. Chances or error during cornerning are close to zero.
3. After returning from the trip. I got a weired issue. While returning from office, suddenly I saw ABS light blinking. So I stopped the bike and then cranked again but to my surprise it failed and then later everything died. There was a krrr sound while cranking.. And after sometime even no sound of cranking.
Mechanic is saying that this is due to magnetcoil or the RR unit. Which is 3000rs approx.
Any idea what could the issue be?
4. There was a oil leakage from the head which will be taken care post replacing the packing.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Coming to the important part. Your ABS light lit up in your console due to low voltage. When ABS system gets lower than adequate power, it malfunctions. Secondly, after stopping, you couldn't crank your bike and heard this "khrrr" sound, and then finally a dead bike, which means a dead battery. Now, why did your battery die? As your mechanic said, it can be due to a faulty stator coil, this is the coil that charges your battery when the engine is running. If it's conked off, then you won't charge your battery on the run, and when your battery isn't charged, your bike will stutter, not crank, and all sorts of lights will light up the dash due to low and inadequate voltage.Originally posted by D.j View Post3. First off, check your battery with multimeter with the engine running. The voltage should not exceed 15.5v with the engine running at 5k RPM with high beam on. If, the multimeter shows this reading, your stator/magneto coil is good. So, that leaves us with a dead battery. Replace the battery if it's more not holding up charge.
Keep your observations posted.
Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

I am thinking the same even mechanic initially told the issue might be due to battery. But later told that it is due to stator coil.
One thing I am not able to understand is.. Why next morning I was able to start my bike without any issues, and after around 5 minutes of the bike idling.. I saw the same issue.. And then after leaving the bike for 1hour i was able to crank again..
Thanks to this I was able to ride till service center..>>>>Beware of Zombies<<<<

The issue was mainly due to burnt stator coil.
Thanks to Honda Extended warranty i saved approx 3200 on this.
New stator coil is at 2800 plus labour charges it sums around 3200.
Photos of burnt coil front and back.. Notice the black residue. From there it was burnt.
