I'd advice you against doing that. I know they're of same grade, same company and all but both the oils are different in their characteristics. 300v could mainly be used on a high revving engine and the drain period is less whereas 7100 can be used on an engine for touring/city commuting and has a longer drain interval when compared to the 300v. Also, one is much more thicker than the other. The colors are different and all that. So, my 2 cents is that you stick to the same oil. If you're using 300v, buy an extra can of 300v and use it and keep the 7100 as a spare for the next oil change.

You can use it. As long as you have the grades in spec, there is nothing to worry, even more, since both your old and new oil is of the same grade and from the same manufacturer. Instead of wasting them, the 500 ML could be used up, there won't be any adverse effects. Make sure you replace your engine oil filter, and use the oil. The key here is the right level of oil and the right grade. Try not to mix grades and you are all set.Originally posted by Moshca View PostHello everyone,

I've used 300V right from the 220 days, and after experimenting with almost all the Motul Series apart from the newer 300 v2 and 5w40 which I haven't used. For my CBR, currently the 7100 10w50 is doing the duty, and I think it's far better than sticking to 300V. I haven't used 300V since then for any of my motorcycles, it's been either 5100, 3100 or 7100, with the former and latter doing duties. 300v though seems great on the paper, doesn't really translate to smoothness on the road. From my observation and experience, the 300V makes the engine coarser due time, and strangely enough the oil level used to go down every 600 to 700 kays of riding. Different riders will have different opinions over the 300v for what it has to offer, but I haven't looked at it since then. I 100% agree on this. I've used 300v on my R15 V2 as well as R3. When the oil was drained out on the R15 after 3k kms, only 650-700 ml came out. I was shell shocked. But then again R15 has had it's fair share of mile munching and an engine re-build is due now. But when the same 300v was drained out of my R3 after 5k kms, i saw a substantial loss of oil too, nothing serious though. Since then, i've been using 5100 on my R15 and 7100 on my R3 and i've had no complaints whatsoever. Apparently, 300v is a great oil if used in a right way and in the right environment. It will suit the race-track riding where one is always in the higher RPM's and changes the oil after a good 2k kms on the track. Just a personal opinion, I have used both 300v and 7100 10W40. And I personally feel that 7100 is a better choice.
With 300V, within 500-600 kms of riding, I felt the engine to be getting rough and also felt the engine to be getting tad bit more warm.
With 7100 10W40, very smooth engine oil, perfect for city riding as well as some fun when you want. Not much heating issue too. And this last better than 300V any day.

Hi Princesirohi, are 5W40 oils available for motorcycles? I heard too less a cold rating like 0 or 5W will cause the clutch plates to slip and too high a vicosity can cause too much drag and the plates cant disengage properly. Am not talking about friction modifiers but rather something similar to what causes the rear wheel to turn slightly on revving while in neutral.
