I Don't trust the online sellers. They can sell anything. For peace of mind I always purchase the shell ultra from shell petrol bunks and they also give some small discounts if not huge.

If motul can be faked the same could be applied to shell as well.

Just my perception on online sellers.

So with engine oil and oil filter excluded the clutch plates cost around 2k, does this.include the pressure plates or only the clutch plates ?

Since this time the oil filter caught the metal deposits, did you check for the metal deposits in previous oil change ? Clutch plates did not get fried in just one service interval.

Do not frequently change the oil grade and why would someone go from synth to.semi-synth and then back to synth were you doing any sorts of experiment ?

Do you hold the clutch while riding. I mean do you keep your hands on clutch all the time. Keeping hands on clutch fries them more early.

There was no metal deposits in the last oil change. I used semi synth for just that one time because the full synth was not readily available. I used it for just 1500kms and then switched back to fully synth. I never hold the clutch while riding. My clutch lasted for 54k which seems like a decent interval to me.

In the initial days of the cbr250r in India, the svc filled up with mineral oil, and nobody said anything. Only later did Honda bring their Honda throttle fs and made it compulsory. Just good business, nothing more. The CBR has an awesome cooling system.

Stick with normal air, Nitrogen doesn't do any wonders unless its a race car/bike that too on a track. Trust me nothing changes and moreover most of them cost 10 bucks you can some petrol for that money.

True! Normal air is free while N2 costs 30-50 rupees here by the loots.
Plus, free air is already 78% N2, so I'm not complaining!

My bike done 8.5K odo and 10month old. This morning I noticed some damage on the clutch cable where it is exposed to engine side. The area where it get sliding with end metal part of clutch cable hose. Looks like the clutch cable and hose is not aligned in a straight line. I could see some metal strands broken and came out from clutch cable. Any one from us faced the damage on clutch cable so soon?

I second your opinion. CBR has an excellent cooling system. No matter the traffic and weather in bangalore, it doesn't go beyond 3bars.

I have a couple of queries about the bike:

                        1. Any idea what this is? It fell from my bike yesterday, and i have no idea where it came from.

                        2. I have a habit of pulling the clutch, engaging first gear, and killing the engine (keeping clutch pulled) BEFORE coming to a complete halt (with speed of 10-12kph), When i do so, i hear tak tak tak sound from gearbox/front sproket area that varies according to speed of the bike. this sound stops if i slightly engage the clutch (to the point when engine braking comes into effect). Is this normal?

                        3. There is a small access window on the airbox to facilitate replacement of airfilter. I removed it once and loved the induction sound. Will it harm the bike to remove this access window cover? I know i will have to replace filter more frequently but will it cause any long term harm? I read a lot of posts about this and people had mixed opinions.

ps: if someone's interested, i went to 3 honda showrooms today and on road price of CBR250R ABS (new black and white color scheme) is 2.15L in lucknow. All CBR250s had continental tyres on them which is surprising considering i got MRFs last year.
There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

unable to see the photos as of now. probably blocked in office.

point 2. get the clutch play check and also chain slack. nothing else.

                          3. there is no harm doing it however post 6000 rpm the power curve is flat. thats bout it. the air has to pass through the filter however changing the amount changes a lot of values and calculations for the ECU. power curve is weird with the cap open.

                          unsure on the tyre part..

engines heat up more in city than on highways. highways even on 100+ all time you have cool air wind blast all times.
i have never seen 4 bars in 3.5 years and most cbr owners will never see it unless it has some issues.

thats a design flaw in cbr and if you see 1-2 strands out already get it replaced asap else you'd get stranded on road. my first cable blew up at 9 k itself. post which i did a deliberate change at 22k and might change it again at soon as its closing 40k. just 120 bucks..

go to the SVC dump area and find a rubber boot they use to cover unicorn cable and . grease that area well and then put the rubber boot. will last longer.

Iron horse, I read about it in an ownership thread, by a person who is one of the first owners of the bike in April/ may 2011. I still remember details of it, such as they filled in 20w50 mineral oil after first service. My bike was purchased in December 12, and the SVC used Honda throttle fs only, at that time the price was 531 per litre.

About the clutch cable, I just lubricated it with some engine oil, and my cable shows no signs of wear at 24k kms.

Anybody have idea how to remove tail light of CBR. I am planning for a DIY of LED taillight. I thought it would be simple job of opening the tail, but first observation gave a feeling of little difficulty. Will be exploring the assembly in detail tomorrow, but if someone have info, then please share.

If i remember correctly the bulb can be accessed from the toolbox area, u need to twist to get it out i think. But i remember it very vaguely as i have not done any replacement on my own.
