In my 8 months of ownership, i spent only on regular servicing and consumable items like engine oil, filters, chain lubes etc.

Bike is very reliable, the engine is a gem. Honda mostly would launch the 300r , but its only slightly more powered than the current 250r apart from that not sure about the display, fairing definitely looks better

Forget all those fancy aftermarket air filters, especially for street use, you aren't going to do any good.

Well its a normal stock BMC filter, I'm merely changing brands, its not a performance filter to clarify things , im avoiding performance air filters because of the dust n all, if anything I do to my bike will be exhaust change, maybe a ecu tuning.

I wouldn't recommend BMC Stock Filter their filtration capacity. Read the filter specs carefully before installing. Performance is just a term complementary these days, if the company likes to add PEFORMANCE to the filter, it becomes such, it it doesn't, then it says the same, hope you're getting the point.

Just to clear the air. Check the specs of BMC

BMC SRF FM645/04 Air Filter for Honda CBR 250
          Vehicle Compatibility: Honda CBR 250
BMC air filters ensure a higher air flow than original paper filters
It can be used in extreme conditions

Is this bike a good buy when it was launched a long time ago.because it seems like they might stop the model anytime or are they planning to keep it for a longer time and then probably release 300r
Only godforsaken Honda knows if they actually have a plan to upgrade the 250R. It's best to ask, Honda. Test drive the CBR and then see how it fares, if it suits your style, power requirements et cetera, and then make a decision. You can't go wrong with a Honda.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

          THE END

There are guys who change engine oil for 3-4k Km and then there are people like me .
The bike won't have any major problems I change my engine oil around 4500-5000 Km in general and service is also for around same time and mine is 5 years old.
The only costliest part I changed was speedometer (6000) and that was my fault completely too.
CBR is proven bike it works like a charm even after more than 5 years and there are many bikes but KTM's are getting phased out in 2017 and completely new bike next yearand not sure about Mojo but Benelli TN25 is also good bike but no ABS.
End of the day it's your money and mindset Whether you want "Sunny" or "Isha"

Wat rpms do u keep ur bike at mostly? I change my engine oil every 3000km to keep the engine in good health, I ride very mixed, 60-70% normal, calm riding, 30% of over 5.5-7000rpm.

I keep it around 4 to 6K rpm most of the time and on very rare days I go to 7000 rpm only on highways I will open up the throttle and I use Shell fully synthetic by the way.

One of the shell supplier told me that shell ultra fs can last upto 8000-9000 kms easily. He laughed at me when i told him tht i changed shell ultra oil after 4500 kms. Is it true?

People change the engine oil according to their fancy, and perceived piece of mind. You get people changing it at 1800, and 4500. Some claim mineral oil destroys the engine, some others say smoothness has gone at 2000kms of Honda oil and thus Honda oil sucks.

Our manual, however, does not specify which oil to use, even the weight varies with the ambient temperature. So you can change it whenever you wish... After all, lubricants are a highly lucrative business for the oil companies.

PS: the ninja 650 ownership thread lists veedol as the recommended engine oil for the ninja 650. Yes, veedol.

I also have a friend who trusts only Shell fs advance and shell fuel. His bike? Apache 160. If he is happy, the company is happy, why should we interfere sirji? 😂

I am using Michelin pilot street radial for my CBR250R, both front and rear. Rear is 140/70, front 110/70. What is the optimum tire pressure for both front n rear?? I had my 1st puncture today

29psi front. 29psi rear without pillion, 32psi with pillion.

For how long you had those tyres? Cuz I had one and the rear was wearing of unevenly and I couldn't claim warranty as these tyres are black market stuff.

And for the money you shell out I didn't think that's worth it.

I bought a used cbr250r from my friend. He had michelin from day one. Bike has done 6k, but the treads looks new and it doesn't seem to have flattened at the centre. The D390 which I had earlier was showing signs of wear in the centre after 7k kms. I have ridden the cbr for 600kms now, am pretty satisfied with the grip offered by Michelin but it is not in the league of metzelers. I will do a recheck on the tyre pressure.
