The fuel tank can be made much larger. Upto 20-22 ltrs I believe. I've seen Duke/RC 390s with the front part lifted and inside there is a small compartment occupying about 50% of the space. So, rest 50% is still left inside the front body portion.!

There are bikes with 27 ltr fuel tank... Benelli 600 GT. Too big a fuel tank in the conventional tank position makes a bikes CofG high affecting handling. So there are bikes with fuel tank under the seat like BMW GS range of bikes. Moreover tank range is decided also based upon the intended use of a bike. Touring n Adventure bikes generally have a big tank, where as race bikes, street bikes etc have a comparatively small tank.Once a Biker ....Always a BIKER

Thanks guys.I did take a TD of 250 yesterday and it was good.but I am still confused which one to take.I just want a trouble free experience and atleast not get a faulty bike while purchasing from showroom.
BTW I drive 90% time on city Bangalore and fuel efficiency also I need as I travel a lot of kilometers.one of the reason why I shortlisted duke coz of its fe.I am a sedate rider

If you are sedate rider, CBR will suit you, Duke is a bit if a hooligan on the streets, the CBR 's best place is highways, it does pretty decent in the cities, I get fe of 30 in the city, a full tank fetches about 300-330km in the city if u keep rpms around 4000-6000rpm, preferably at 5. See, the choice is simple. Duke/RC 200/390, CBR all are good bikes. Buy what your heart desires. In city, it doesn't matter what you choose. But, if your riding is mainly highway, choose a bigger displacement bike as the 390s will just disappear onto the horizon.Originally posted by xplod566 View PostOkay. It comes to ur personal, choice,needs,usage, city/highway, ergonomics, etc. Back in 2014 I had the option of d200 n CBR , went for the CBR for the better top end n mile munching on highways. Few updates on the shim/chain tensioner issue
While trying the DIY chain tensioner method carried out by maneesh a.ka. @sman999, I found that the current allen key bolt installed in the chain tensioner was already loose. Suspecting this could be the culprit in the stitching sound, I tightened it and then went on for a spin, for few moments the stitching sound did not bother me, it could be psychological effect. But after 2 km ride the sound came again. pissed off went home and did the DIY what maneesh has done and then again went on for a spin. the sound is still there. so it is confirmed that the shims are culprit here.
Spoke to Honda mech (Abdul from Vihaan Honda - thane) where I go for service, on call. Now the theory he is presenting about shim noise is that they cannot fit in shim with lesser clearance. I told him about the clearance values (Intake valve clearance: 0.16 +/- 0.03 mm, Exhaust valve clearance: 0.27 +/- 0.03 mm ). He said this is all right, but they purposely give a bit more clearance so that the vales don't get bent while running. Somebody please put some light on this, Fitting a bigger shim will put the valves at risk and at such a risk that they might get bent ?
I have taken an appointment to get the shims checked or replaced on 25th Feb as I am currently in pune and yet to find a decent SVC who can carry out this job here.
If somebody can point me to a competent SVC who can do this job in pune, I will be very much grateful.

If what the mech says is true, then you will have no other option but to change shims every 12k km.
Can some other factors be causing early wear out of shims in your case? I think you can rule out riding style, because I've done just about every noob mistake to my vehicle, except redlining. I checked top speed before first service, filled up engine oil over the top limit, ran the bike with low engine oil, ran the bike 70kms after the last fuel bar started blinking, and randomly go to 10k rpm in the city to scare Activa riders. No shim noise, no power loss, mileage check gave 47 this year.
My 5k rpm rattle/ grrr sound also greatly reduced after overfilling engine oil slightly above the top mark in the inspection window.

I don't think it will be obsolete for many years... 1. Power loss can't say as my bike does 80kmph at 5K rpm and 112 kmph at 7K rpm.
2. Mileage is around 32-34 kmpl with mixed riding style (city and highway)
3. I shift to second gear at around 4K rpm and from there on each shift happens around 5 to 5.5K rpm.
4. I redline only when the bike is newly serviced and when the engine oil is new
5. since 5 months, I have done quite a number of Mumbai-pune-Mumbai rides, in those rides the bike is always kept near 6.5 to 7K rpm.
6. Very few top speed runs, I have only done it thrice and then lost interest in testing those numbers for others and my own safety.
7. Bike is being properly serviced at specified intervals.
I suspect it is mech who is fitting the wrong shims and keeping the clearance more
The bike still runs and pulls nicely and I do understand the fact that shims will wear out.
But I need to know what makes them wear so fast. still searching for proper answers.

And if the fairing is a direct fit then probably it's awesome for us.
I really liked the CBR more than duke coz of its practicality.and also the bike looks so cool on red.plus my main reason to see as200 is coz its so much problematic and looking for a reliable bike.eben the ktm is made by bajaj so same thing basically

BTW when I am going for a new CBR then please can someone let me know what all problems or checks I have to do before picking the bike.for eg when people are takjng new pulsar 200 they check if leaving the hadle bar the bike sways to left or cold start probs or probable vibes etc etc.
Also can someone mention if there are any niggles or particular issue on 2016 cbr250r
