The handle bar costs around 1000 bucks that without bar end. If you drop the bike then handle and levers will be busted so the total would be around 1200 including labour that is if you're lucky. If fork gets bent that's additional cost and sometimes fairing also takes hit. The lock set costs around 6k and pump set costs around 26k. And then there are tyres you can't the conti's you need Michelin or something they also will be little expensive depends on your choice. Apache sprocket costs 2k ?

I got the 3rd free service done yesterday at 9900kms (4000kms/6mnths after last service). The engineer checked for any possible leakage of engine oil and found none. After a thorough check-up, he suggested there is no cause of worry but just to be cautious, I should keep an eye on the engine oil level for some time. 1.5L FS oil was filled in my presence. The clutch switch was giving a little problem while trying to start the bike in gear, so it was lubed and works well now. Oil filter and air filter were changed as part of the service. The chain was well tightened, cleaned and lubed, and I was surprised at the amount of time the engineer spent on the job. Whether it was because of my presence around the bike all the time or he normally does it this way, I was quite impressed with the way he was checking up on everything that I had listed down on the job card. The footpegs and handlebar were tightened as they had started to vibrate a bit on high speeds.

I've ridden the bike for about 120kms post service, and there is noticeable change in its behaviour. It feels much smoother and faster through the RPM range and the vibrations are also much lesser.

I am planning to head to Ladakh this June and will get the brake pads and tyres changed before the ride. The brake pads still have another 2000kms left in them, so a part of that will be used for a small weekend ride in the coming days. For tyres, I'm planning to buy the Michelin Pilot Street.

Anything else that I should check/change before the ride?
Hello. Since you are travelling to leh this month. I would suggest look for some tyre which has blocks rather mic pilot sporty. They are just good on tarmac nothing else pleases...

Hi. 11000kms update. Got brake pads changed before the Ladakh ride coming up this week, ₹3500 for the front and rear. Also, the service engineer suggested that I should carry the chain slider, a couple of 10A fuses, clutch cable and the clutch and brake levers as spares for the ride. Also carrying .5L of engine oil along.

Did most of it myself. Took help from a mechanic friend to fix the rear sprocket.

The happiness was short lived. Today morning the bike refused to start. Its cranking. But not starting. Any ideas? The fuel was a bit low. Could it be that my fuel pump is in trouble?

Bad fuel, unclean fuel filter, low battery power, air in fuel pump line are some of the reasons.

There are three wires apparently from the key unit where we put in the key. One of them is ground wire. My friendly neighborhood rat ate through it. So the starter was cranking. But the engine was not starting. Its what the Honda service guy who came to my home explained to me. Will ask for more details today when i take it to the service centre. I have never been to a honda service centre before. So do they allow us to hang around when they are servicing the bike like ktm. Also what brand engine oil do they use? The fully synthetic one!

Depends on the SVC center, some have very "strict" policy against allowing customers to get into the service bays , while some are not even the slightest bothered if you make the service bay as your leisure spot. I have been to both such svc's within Kerala and Karnataka. So all you need to do is try and get into the service bay and wait for any response for them.

The FS oil used by the SVC is stock Honda oil itself, I do not know which brand company that manufactures it (like Yamalube which previously was actually Motul oil re-branded as Yamalube), but the stock Honda oil is pretty much enough for most of the normal usage of the bike.
Better options would be Shell FS and Motul FS(7100 or 300v)

                        Cheers

Well, engine oil is something that not everyone takes it seriously. Ever since psr sir threatened (taught) me about the relationship & importance of engine oil, I take it extremely serious. I've gone so much nuts these days that I make a point to check for every 500 Km or so, before every long trip, use the same brand of engine oil always & also carry a half a litre of it always unless its a small commute within the city
Got back the bike after 10 days, cam chain slipped was the issue bike not starting.

got new cam chain and shims and generic servicing total cost 7200/-

Don't know about ATM, sorry, KTM , Pilot, Vihaan, Lakecity, Advent*(assuming), JSP, Sakshi, Didar, Manasarovar are some of the ASC's that I've been inside while my bike is serviced & no one asked a question. Like I keep saying, ATTITUDE matters; approach with right attitude & people welcome you all over the places.
