Re: Honda CBR 250R
Making a mistake, the 302 R would had been a better option for touring.Originally posted by Varun Manoranjan View PostHi, I have booked the new CBR 250R, it will be delivered by 1st week of June. Since Honda has not started the production yet.. it will start by this month end or 1st week of may.
I am moving from a benelli 250 (an expensive affair for 2 years) to CBR 250 abs [emoji2]

what do you mean by non cut frame sliders? could you explain? Last I heard that frame sliders are attached to the main carriage frame and should be of the design that in case of excessive force capable bending the frame the sliders should break off. In this country I did not find any sliders that met such specifications or guaranteed and warranted such, so I did not look further.Originally posted by prateek2210 View PostBump..
Anyone?

I won't buy a benelli again. Not reliable, I had changed lots of components under warranty.Originally posted by Manan View PostMaking a mistake, the 302 R would had been a better option for touring.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Haha perhaps it may be true, however keep in mind that the famous Honda reliability is based on the Mechanic who services it and the Parts [hate to be a snitch read the above posts of a possible disc failure on account of a 220 pad] used, your location indication state that you are from Bangalore, so Karthik from Tansi honda [opp laughing colours white field road] would be your best bet.Originally posted by Varun Manoranjan View PostI won't buy a benelli again. But in the current crop, the CBR is 1) Slow 2) Unsupported [ I still have to raise hell to get parts in Bombay/ parts take a lot of time to arrive, my engine rebuilt took 3 months] 3)Outdated [other bikes in the category offer more]
Therefore if I were you, for serious touring I would choose the Versys 300X, for the occasional feel good, the R15 Single seat or for practicality the P220.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
32,000 kms done, and I had made the mistake of giving the bike to local mech for changing the oil[ that time I did not know the proper ASC's] later with the information, on regular service the ASC mech's found that
1) the piston was black[ the top]
2) the moly coating was bust [ seen on the sides of the piston so entire piston assembly replaced] further the bore had fine linings on the side as a result of the errant piston so that was replaced.
3) the local guy put motul 10 40, as a result the clutch was burnt [ asc said that it was tolerable but I asked for replacement ]
4) there was a leak from the head gasket with the rocker arms worn out [within service limits, asked for entire set (shims, arms timing chain etc) to be replaced]
5) cleaned the injector
8) replaced the spark plug
9) replaced the steel mesh oil filter
10) replaced the coolant and coolant system gaskets
I verified the same and asked for the necessary action, further the cause of the damage could have been attributed to my constant commuting between Bombay and Bangalore and that near north KA fuel is mixed with ethanol. But this is conjecture I have no confirmation on the same.

It's okay bro. Everyone one has their individual choices. I am happy with mine. What was the reason for all these? Using motul 10w-40 or am I missing anything?Originally posted by Manan View Post32,000 kms done, and I had made the mistake of giving the bike to local mech for changing the oil[ that time I did not know the proper ASC's] later with the information, on regular service the ASC mech's found that

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Hey mate, I did big marathon search when I bought a Cbr. I started from benelli TNT 300, then Kawasaki z250, then Bajaj dominar, then RE 500 Thunderbird. I did a research by personally meeting owners, reading long ownership reviews. May be Cbr is far behind on specs from all new generation bike but believe it's very reliable and sturdy bike. I am so happy with my purchase. If you live faired bike and understand suspension set up on similar bike, Cbr is a great bike to own. Once I started using it, I was also amazed by its mileage in high way, even in city it can give 30-31km mileage. End of the day, we do expect some practical bike when we buy a 300-400 cc bike.Originally posted by Varun Manoranjan View PostIt's okay bro. Everyone one has their individual choices. Do make sure you have a CBR mech in the Honda showroom nearby and you check the vehicle after the mechanic has done the work on your bike.Originally posted by Varun Manoranjan View PostIt's okay bro. Everyone one has their individual choices. I am happy with mine. [emoji4]
[MENTION=54284]Manan[/MENTION] - There is no reason why 10w40 oil will cause clutch burn or engine damage. I guess the local mech didn't fill up the oil upto the mark. Many guys have done 1Lakh+ kms on the CBR250 with 10w40.Last edited by leech; 04-10-2018, 10:09 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Yes you did, read the entire post again, the bike ran for about 32,000 km had a oil job went for some another odd 3-4 k then went to the official service centre, there they found those issues, the cause of those issues? not clear; could be my repeated commute between Bombay-Bangalore, could be the ethanol based petrol at N KA, the clutch could be because of the non standard oil. Nothing is clear, however usage of OEM parts reduces chances of malfunction and rejected warranty claims.Originally posted by yathi View PostWhat was the reason for all these? Re: Honda CBR 250R
Sorry the oil was filled to the mark, there is a good probable reason that it could have caused the burn; BUT it is not clear. Therefore I do stick to OEM parts, reduces the chances of malfunction and eases any claims of warranty gurantee etc etc.Originally posted by leech View PostDo make sure you have a CBR mech in the Honda showroom nearby and you check the vehicle after the mechanic has done the work on your bike.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Get a new tank, rather than taking temporary measures. If the same is not available go for electroplating the tank.Originally posted by meisrossi View PostFuel tank is rusted from inside, any ideas to remove the rust..diesel washes done a couple of times. The rust screwed my fuel inject pump, spent a bomb on replacing it.
I still spotted rust, worried for the new pump now
