I am not aware that Honda has 20w40 oils.
Can somebody who has a 2011 model 250 post a picture of their user manual, the engine oil page?Originally posted by New guy View PostThe manual doesnt mention 10W30 as the recommended grade. Only gives a brief description of the oil grade and temperature relation.Almost every manufacturer mostly used a 20w40 until around 2010, and as someone pointed out Honda's manual only gives you a chart indicating the oil grade to be used based on ambient temp. I feel a 10w40 or a 20w40 is most apt for most motorcycles in our temperate warm weather conditions. The w50's are mostly recommended on the bajaj/ktm , harley, bullet ranges and are apt for these bikes considering their bigger capacity/heat generation (Remember the oil also does play a part in cooling down the engine). When a w50 oil is recommended, don't go down to a w40 oil unless maybe you ride in very cold temperatures.Originally posted by leech View PostYep, but on the arrow we have 10w30 written, with the arrow ending at 40*C.
This is the first time I'm hearing that Honda had recommended 20w40 for CBR250 in the beginning. If I remember aargees ownership review correctly, he mentioned they filled 20w40 or 20w50 in the first service, which can be used as an alternative to 10w30 which was out of stock.
On a motorcycle that 'recommends' a w30 oil, you can safely use a w40 oil. using a w50 isn't going to cause damage to the engine, but might cause a drop in fe, not rev as freely as it would on a w30 or w40 oil.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys,
Please listen to this engine noise (taken from 3-4 ft distance. I have given the bike to service center to rectify this noise and they have estimated 10k "PLUS" amount. Said timing chain, tensioner and cylinder head is needed to be reworked (rocker arm adjustment). They said shim replacement isn't required.
Am i being duped here? because i though that noise is coming from loose valves or something.
My bike is 2.5 years old with 30,275 km on odo.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
What could cause the gear shifts to get rough? My bikes developing a very noticeable roughness when shifting gears. Also it appears the speed at which I have to shift up is coming down. I'm fairly certain I used to shift to 3rd at 32kmph, now I seems I have to shift at 27-28. Taking it to the ASC, but was hoping someone here might know something..

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Could be a array of things, check your chain sprocket slackness and dryness, also it maybe An indicator your engine oil has reached its life end and needs a change, also get your front sprocket cleaned. If all this doesn't help, check your gearings, might need to open the engine up if it's a serious problem, one last thing, don't stick to shifting at one speed or rpm level, keep varying it.Originally posted by JoshAraujo View PostWhat could cause the gear shifts to get rough? Will do.Originally posted by Deathwing View PostCould be a array of things, check your chain sprocket slackness and dryness, also it maybe An indicator your engine oil has reached its life end and needs a change, also get your front sprocket cleaned. "don't stick to one speed for gear shifts, vary it" why is that if I may ask
BTW, just looked at my oil level, it's certainly over the maximum mark, could that be causing it?
I had it serviced a few days ago, but I hadn't asked them for an oil change, maybe something got mixed up and they poured in extra?Last edited by JoshAraujo; 04-17-2018, 06:03 PM.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Does anyone know when the led headlights will be available from the spares section?
What components do we need apart from the headlight(like relay, wiring etc)?
And what the whole swap would cost at an ASC for pre 2018 bikes?
If anyone does find out all the details, please quote me here so i get a notification on the situation.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Last I remember, I asked the service advisor at SVC and he said that the the Headlight is not a direct fit in to old models and alongwith different ECM maps . And different headlight stay assembly .Originally posted by Nithesh View PostDoes anyone know when the led headlights will be available from the spares section?
