• Oil Change

Hi,

Got up a bit early and changed the oil to Shell Advance Ultra 10w40 as the old oil was in a nasty state. This is the 1st time ive changed the oil on my own so took me longer than it should have but definitely worth the peace of mind. New tyres coming up shortly.

Adding a quick Tyre price query. Getting mixed prices in Malad Mumbai for the Michelin Pilot Street Radials between 10500/- to 9800/- for the set of front and rear with manufacturing year 2016 or newer.

Any who knows the approximate prices for the pair of MPSRs? Thanks

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle!

Yes, those are the prices for a pair of the Michelin pilot street radials. the rear costs around Rs.5600 and the front around Rs.4800. Some even quote as high as 6k for the rear. 10k for the pair is a fair deal.
But I would suggest for the front go for the MRF Revz FC1, saves you close to 2k and it is a very good tire. It costs around 2800~3000rs. Spend the money thus saved to replace all the filters (Air, fuel, oil.. read you changed oil, but did you change oil filter?).

Thanks. Yes changed Air filter, oil filter, Oil filter Gasket and the Drain Bolt Crush washer too

I cant seem to find any information on the REVz FC1 online. All places including the MRF website list REVz fc only, Are they the same

Revz fc1 is available in mrf stores they are the one that comes company fitted with the ktm duke&rc 200 i'm using it and its value for money product with excellent grip also try mrf masseter for rear its better than michelin street in both wet and dry grip. Mrf pair will cost 6500 rupees and its an really good deal. Michelins are costly because they are imported. quality remains same for both the companies.

The Revz Fc1 is the newer model. Earlier it used to be the Revz fc for the front (i think till around end of 2015). since 2016 they started providing the c1's as stock tire on the 200 ktm's i.e. (fc1 front and c1 for rear). The fc1 is an improvement over it's earlier gen and also has a higher speed rating compared to its predecessor.

I am very happy with the fc that came on my duke 200, and know a couple of folks who are happy using the same on the cbr like theironhorse99 ..
The fc1's these days are available at local shops.. or else ask your nearest ktm dealer where you can source them. Don't waste money on the michelin's for the front.

Finally found a shop who has both. Is the masetter rear a radial or bias ply Tyre? Thanks

Pain, and Jagz the Masseter tires are BIAS PLY not Radial. One can check the construction of the tire by looking at the sidewalls. It will be clearly mentioned RADIAL or BIAS PLY. At present only the Revz series are radials. Metz, Pirels, Bridge and Mich are the only tires that offer radial versions and MRF's Revz series are completely bias/cross ply. Your best would be a radial setup, and MPSR.

Cheers!

Thanks for clarifying VJ. It's strange that even the manufacturer websites don't clearly list the most basic info on the Tyre. The options I'm looking at now are

1. Radial setup - Mpsr front and rear @ 9800/-
2. Bias/cross ply setup - Revz fc1 front and Masetter rear @ 6850/-

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Go for MPSR radials.

I'm using the bais ply setup since 3 months no problem at all even on wet roads. I know that bais ply has less surface area than radial and they are not that flexible than radial. But after testing them on my friends 200ns the masseter felt so grippy and stable on corners that all the misconceptions i had for bais ply setup was gone and i bought it for my cbr. give it a try you will stick to it at your next tyre change also. I promise you [emoji41]

I would preferably run this combo: Revz fc1 & MPSR rear. (mpsr is a better bet if you tour or ride on bad patches of roads, less puncture prone)
Or option 2.

The front mpsr is not worth the money you pay for.

Hi Friends, Currently I own TVS APACHE RTR 180. Was planning for upgrade to New one. Since I am working in another State, planning to go for Second hand one.
I came across an ad about Honda CBR 250R ABS(2012) ridden only for 1830 Kms. I have checked with the owner and found that he looks like trustworthy.
My queries are,
1. Is it okay to buy a CBR 250R which was ridden only for 1800 kms in last five years ?
2. What are all the checkpoints should I consider?
3. When I rode it within his apartment road I felt vibrations in the first Two gears... Is it normal ?

Appreciate your suggestions on this.

Thanks. Actually for the front, the cost differential between the Revz fc1 and Mpsr is minimal. The rear mpsr is the more expensive one comparatively Will be picking up the tyres either today or tomorrow hopefully. Excited!

Thanks for all your help guys. Appreciate it

The bike must be stored for long period of time so the engine may have lot of carbon buildup and the coolent lines and radiator lines must be messy. If the engine oil is not changed at regular intervals then it must be degraded and unable to give protection to the engine. First of all get everything checked. Cbr has lot of sensors which may not be working. And the bike never vibrates in 1st and 2nd gear. It vibrates only when pushed 8k+. Get it checked with an knowledgeable mechanic who works on cbr and other similar bikes.[emoji106]
