1000 is less, atleast that's what my experience taught me. Do lube generously for once in 1500-2000 Kms (HMSI recommends every 800 Kms with their stupid lube, while I use Motul). Slackness, I agree, every 2K kms (suggested by HMSI), as for me, I check every 500 Kms & adjust on need basis, so I'm not sure on the interval.

I really doubt on this; anyway, I don't disregard completely though.

You can redline, but how fast you get there is important. If you think the road is a race track, then for every race you'll need to keep changing the spared. While redlining always is not recommended, once in a while, its does good.

Last but not the least, don't go with what ASC lubes, spend sometime & lube yourself; but Motul or equivalent good products from the market. Though they cost you a lot, but very economical in the long run.

Bike still smooth and powerful and eye catching of every other CBR owners in MUMBAI

I would go for an official CBR jacket if not the pant and the gloves. BTW, did you inquire if the jackets were mesh. Woul;d help in summers.
The jackets have mesh and and inner too.
In summers u can remove the inner .

Do post some pics if at all you see them.

Also how do you actually realize when the chain is actually on its "last level"?

I would follow this interval but since most of my rides are on not so clean highways, the chain gathers too much dust and runs dry in a matter of days/kms. So no choice but to get it lubed every 500-1000k which is always free at the ASC!

I do lube my chain by myself 1st i clean it with Kerosine(in here i would like to ask does kerosine cause any damage problem to chain ? or wd-40 earlier i use wd-40 on my p220 and i had to change my drive chain after 10000 km) and then carefully lube my chain with SAE 90 as suggested in manual

As far as i know cleaning with Kerosine is not advisable. It is not good for the O ring. Although diesel is still considered OK. Best way is to use Motul chain cleaner and then lube with with Motul chain lube. I personally use diesel and a tooth brush to clean and later lube using Motul chain lube.

                  • ^^ Can someone jot down the procedure to clean the CBR chain using the Motul chain clean and lube? All I do is, spray the chain cleaner, wipe it after a few minutes (or sometimes let it dry off as mentioned in the bottle) and then spray the chain lube. Is this the correct method to do this?

                    • ^^ This should help you. (In the procedure given in the link, replace the WD40 with the Motul Chain clean in your case)

There is a red/green mark as shown in the pic below, on the swingarm. When the arrow below that mark is on the red end, your chain needs replacement. (Pic courtesy: satoracing.com)

Kerosene, Diesel & Petrol (most importantly) - DO NOT use them at all. WD40 is ok, but is expensive I guess for using on cleaning chains.
Use Motul chain cleaner & lube; both of them put together costs nearly a K, but will last long even if used generously.

Mail2vasant - Sprocket kit cost max of 1.8K; there was a guy active in this forum who said the spare prices are cheap in his town. You may want to consider getting it shipped from him; probably it works out even cheaper inclusive of shipping.

Yes, that's the ideal way to do.

But if the chain is full of grime and dirt then individually cleaning each tooth point/chain is recommended as even pressure wash wont be enough to get rid of it.

Well...you'll need to use WD40 to displace the water before lubing & I hope you don't do that. Or else, you should triple check that there's no water between the O-Rings

Also the industry experts say, pressure wash direct on O-Rings will damage it, not sure how far this is true.

Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.
