Well, cruising at 120 & still able to get over 30+ is something I've to check it out personally; especially when you say, 140's & 32 Kmpl!!! Something is wrong with my bike or with my calculations then!!!Originally posted by sayhi2sai View Post

ive clocked about 12k and i am tracking my mileage since day one. i am getting a constant mileage of 27-28 in city. and on highway i get about 31. the worst i've ever got is 26. for the past 4-5 fuel-ups, i am logging on Fuelly.com.Originally posted by aargee View PostAnd I suppose its not a prolonged period

Forget about saying; I cannot even think on those lines!!! If I were to do those speeds, then I could use my Activa
Well timing please? Occasional burst to top speeds does no harm to FE; I did Salem (5 road junction) to my house in 3:47 hrs, flat 361 Kms (including a fuel break) & my FE was just 25. Just wanted to know if I'm left alone at 25.
Excellent; so you're almost neared me now
mine is 145xx something; I'm changing tires probably at 15/16K.
my riding style is a mix of relaxed and aggressive(around 50-50). i do touch red line everyday.Last edited by Mail2vasant; 02-06-2012, 05:11 PM.

When revving the bike a bit more than normal, I get this very unusual rattle as if the pistons are hitting against some metal thing. This happens specifically only below 5k rpm. It occurs after 10-15 mins of riding. It gradually starts diminishing as I reach 5krpm. It is not the common rattle of the shims. It feels as if something is getting damaged inside the engine. This prevents me from accelerating hard. Does anyone else faces this issue?

Went to the ASc today, thought id talk to them about the speedo console vibrations. Took a while before anyone even approached me.
Talked to a service rep, and suddenly service manager shows up.
So i told him about this vibration from the speedo area(post 1st servicing) and before i even completed saying "My friend in Blore had his speedo unit replaced free of charge", he actually said "Yeah we can replace it if there is any fault"

He asked me to keep the bike for a day so they can check it, and said "ITs good that you knew where the problem is, otherwise we'd waste time finding the actual source of the sound"
So this means they have actually had a few speedo units replaced before me here.
Hopefully No more listening to music and trying to avoid that godforsaken vibrations for me
Only managed to clock 3k so far(Only runs on weekends and random weekdays due to college)
Once this tiny glitch is fixed i will be tension free
Tyres still good as new, very grippy, brakes pads should last another 4-5k kms.
Will get the teflon coating done too.
Sometimes (like a few mins ago) i want to park the bike in front of the govt bus, stop it in the middle of the road and go thrash that ba***rd whoever spat on me and my babe
I despise this lack of common sense when people just spit out the window of a moving bus in a heavy moving bumper to bumper city traffic
Crow shits are tolerable but ppl spitting Red PAN! with saliva just makes my blood boil!Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Same with me.Originally posted by aargee View PostAah!!! Good to see a trusted company!!! I'm not worried about FE, but to stay cautious than regret

30+ at 120 is pretty good.. I think I averaged something similar to that. I got 27kmpl riding at 120-130 most of the time and took it above 150 couple of times, including the city ride (50kms to and fro) before joining highway(NH-2)Originally posted by dreamseller View PostI've got 30+ cruising at 120. Glad to hear that. So you got your bike back in condition after 4 months (approx) right..Originally posted by dreamseller View PostBy the way, FYI to both of you: My bike is back; All's well. And yes, tyre changed under warranty.

Well I always get something around 25 to 28. Only total city commution these days. Long rides became near impossible after these classes creeped in! Highways. I never really tested. Next time for sure I will! But with my powerband revving! I aint gonna dream abt 30's + and stuff!
Paid is after 12K mate. Last will be at 12K! Spares are cheap! (Disc pads cost somewhere around 6X0's, Dunno abt other bikes. You can compare) That I would say! Fairings are darn much cheaper than R15. I still don't have an idea how they achieved that! (Maybe mass production and combined sharing stuff with its sibling that will be released, the 150R's i mean!)Originally posted by aargee View PostWell timing please? Dunno abt the ABS and Non ABS braking capability so cant really comment! Trust me Engine is quite rev hungry! Sadly its lazy! (I am very damn sure our engines are de tuned). And from Joel's comment lot more can be achieved from it. I will get mine done soon!
Originally posted by princesirohi View Postthanks man, so you mean to say, after free servicings are over, paid service interval is 6000 kms..??
how is the cost of spareslime, air filter, disk pads chain sprocket etc?
hmmn lets see...
any significant difference in braking between ABS and non-ABS version, in normal situations, not panic braking.
yesterday, went to B.U. Bhandhari showroom in camp, initially he also refused for TD, then some request/pestering/fireworks did the trick, got a small TD. the bike is good, quite fast, nice handling. though the engine is not very revhappy (may be becuase he gave me a customer's bike which came for servicing) the exhaust note is not something you can boast of....i love my pulsar,s exhaust sound, when revved, it howls and moans
... nothing of that sort in CBR ..still it is ok..
well, you can't get everything.
seating position is ok. the guy sitting behind me (showroom guy), kept banging me everytime i applied brakes. 0-60 comes in the blink of an eye. couldn't engage 5th and 6th gears in city.
rest is ok. this comes very close to the bike i want.
when i told my colleagues & friends that i am thinking of buying a bike of 1.6 Lacs, they are like WTF.. OMG...
are u crazy or mad. my boss is like "are you changing profession and going for bike racing ..
"
quite surprisingly, when i told my mom last night that i am going to buy a bike, she said "buy a nano, it will cost the same" and i was like
.. "have i told you which bike, how can you guess" (normal bikes don't cost this much) and then i said "no, it will be 50,000 cheaper

DS - Good for you; I hope you're smiling from end to end again
Kishore - With 120's, I get 29.xx (never 30); I'm still wondering how come people manage 40+!!! Even during run-in I was able to get only 38, that too on the old engine.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Opinion needed
hey guys! i usually used to get my bike serviced at vapi as it is close to me but was not happy with there service as by the time i wud drive 85 km back home the bike would hav returned back to its prior condition. engine would get rough and the fairing would again start giving vibrations. it does not vibrate harshly but gives a very irritating sound above 5.5k rpm and it kills me, makes my bike very noisy.
then i got my bike serviced from venitian honda borivali but the coarseness from the engine was still there this time it returned after just 40 km of riding and also he could not take care of the fairing issue. after returning home i talked to few guys and many suggested that they use shell advance 10w40 in there bikes and one of the guys showed me a sticker on his ducati which said shell advance 10w40 only.
btw during replacing the oil, i noticed the oil that honda asc had put in her looked more like water from mithi river then oil.
i would love to knw if,
1. is shell advance a good oil. of course i do feel a notable difference in the way my bikes engine sounds but still wont hurt to ask if der is nething better. Plus one of the people i talked to suggested putting shell helix 5wsomething.
2. where can i get my fairing fixed. the sound is killing me. i usually change my gears at 6k but as the sound starts at 5.5k it literally rips my heart apart. i dont rev hard or high except for wen on highway, but even den i rev gradually and dont twist the throttle dat hard.
3. another thing i have been noticing recently is that there is a slight knocking (click click sound from the engine area) in gears above 2 and even at high revs 4k to 5k or 5k to 6k even at 6k to 7k, if u twist the throttle a little hard for overtaking. she doesnt spirit ahead as she used to before. i does not feel like a big problem but i would like to know if neone else is facing it and what action did dey take. i just dont want the issue to turn in too a big problem.

^^^ Don't change the engine oil spec from 10W-30 FS or 20W-40 Mineral (not good if you want to ride higher speeds) as what Honda recommends. The spirited jumps are lacking due to the inappropriate engine oil grades.
For fixing the fairing vibes, change the inner bushes within the fairings; your ASC might've to place an order to obtain the same.Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

40+ is way beyond my imagination.. even during run in period I didn't get above 35..Originally posted by aargee View PostKishore - With 120's, I get 29.xx (never 30); I'm still wondering how come people manage 40+!!! Even during run-in I was able to get only 38, that too on the old engine.
Leave aside 40+, if I could get 35+ on highways, then I will be the happiest person..

Not that I'm unhappy about my Fe, but, anything above 30 Kmpl & speeds over 130 is good to have.
+1; like Sai says...79 Kmph all the way is more than unimaginable for me. Like I said before, if I were concerned on FE & speeds, I wouldn't have bought CBR; I would've bought Discover 100Originally posted by kishoremuthu View PostI think it all depends on how much control we have over our right wrist

This is the same sound i have been trying to ignore because the ASC said it was the fairing rattle while i knew it was the console.
Thats it, i am gonna get my Speedo replaced aswell.
Btw the fault lies in the speedo glass. When it gets loosened it starts vibrating at 4k rpm!
Get is done ASAP before the warranty of the bike expires. The service guys said the speedometer console itself costs more than 5-7K.Yamaha Enticer: 2003 - SOLD
