  • Last week I had been to my hometown (Kannur, Kerala) and back. Covered totally ~860 kms.
It's truly a rock solid touring machine. Didn't face any issue at all. Best part was that I got an awesome mileage of around 33-35 kmpl. I had got similar mileage only during my run-ins.
I use CBR for my daily commute to office and back. Been getting under 30 kmpl constantly (mostly 27-28 kmpl). But this time it just exceeded my expectation.
My home is 330 kms from Bangalore. So I just had to fill a full tank from Bangalore and I was at home with the last bar remaining.

In Kannur, I took it to Peeyem Honda for lubing and for checking the bike after the ride. I had to wait a bit there since the CBR mech was busy with another bike. Later he rode my bike and confirmed no issues. They tightened the chain and lubed it with Motul. When I asked how much I need to pay, they said "Nothing Sir"!

I'm really proud of my decision about CBR and a very happy owner!

+1 even i've observed this Bikes gives great mileage on highways even on high revs on my last ride to mt.abu i got almost 33-36kmpl and most of the time i was cru-sing 125-130 kmph on highways.
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

spare are now available.. HMSI have opened a warehouse in Kolkata recently.. Earlier they had a warehouse only at Gurgaon.
Can't comment on the capability of technicians about doing major repairs. I feel they decent enough.

I believe you know the issues that i have faced so far with my CBR. Still, here it goes
        1. Rear tyre defect (Got it replaced)
        2. Handle issue (got it rectified)

The bad thing according to me is the Rear Tyre. It runs out off grip very easily.
Fuel efficiency is pretty good. getting ~30 kmpl in daily city riding.

        • Regarding Chain overhaul

          Hi All,

Gave my cbr for third service this weekend.
The mechanic said to change the chain after another 1000 kms.(i.e. around 13000kms)
          I have completed 12500kms.

did anyone else also need to change the chain for their cbrs ?
If so after how many kms.

                    • I am fed up with my CBR it started giving smoke from the fourth day of purchase. Then there were no spare parts got them on 4th of January got my bike on 20the January after Block, Pistons and Rings all valves were changed and the very next day it was giving smoke again, i thought i should wait for a few days today it started to make some hollow noise from the engine will leave the bike to the showroom tomorrow.

                      • nowadays i am thinking of purchasing a bike and i am inclined towards CBR250R-reason-
                        • i want a 250 CC bike.
                        • i dont want a 200 CC bike that gives almost same power output as other 250 CC coz the torque of that 200 CC will always be less than 250 CC and a 200 CC producing the same power as 250 CC will always be bit more stressed. and double seated performance drop will also be there. blah blah blah...meaning whatever... i want a bike which offers me significant upgrade in terms of power and performance, pick-up and top speed. current bike P150 UG3
                        • so today went to check out R15, CBR250 & KTM.
                        • didn't liked KTM- too small for me, whatever so called experts may say, it is a small bike not suited for persons taller than 5'10"
                        • test rode an R15, first of all the person sitting behind me will be like "pearched on a tree top" second is to me V2 seemed to be less flickable than V1, third V2 seemed to be less rev happy than V1. it may be my opinion and may me wrong, but thats how i felt, may be sumthing to do with the test ride bike. anyways 150 CC to 150 CC is not sumthing i desire.
                        • next came my fav. till date the CBR- it has everything i want- power, torque, pick-up, top end, full fairing, sufficient handling, comfortable riding posture, even pillon will also be not unhappy.
                        • one slight problem is the quality of plastic/fiber, fit & finish quality of switchgear didn't impress me - way below KTM & R15- and i am not talking of test ride bike, but display bikes. plz tell me is it really so??
                        • at one of the showrooms the display bike was gathering dust and there was like tons of dust on it, something like when we park our bike on road side and leave it for a week. that made me think, how old is the bike, why is it neglected, they don't wanna sell it, or what?
                        • there was no eagerness in sales staff for CBR sales, too bad...nobody attented me properly no finance staff available--KOTHARI WHEELS, WAKDEWADI & PASHANKAR AUTO, SHIVAJI NAGAR.
                        • both above mentioned dealers didn't had any test ride bikes, and were giving lame excuses like (1) u will get test ride in evening currently our bike is out somewhere, (2) one customer crashed our test ride bike so it is under maintenance.
                        • is there any CBR owner from pune, who can guide me to a good showroom.
                        • why are they so reluctant to give a test ride, and so uninterested to sell it, no proper sales pitch, nothing... do we have to look really filthy rich while going to buy a CBR to get proper response.
                        • i have heard that earlier lot of CBR's had lot of problems which were rectified later, since at one of the showrooms the display bike looked like a decade old, how to ensure they don't give a bike from old stock??

Ask your dependent ASC about the oil change. If it is okay with Castrol 1 10W30, then it is an excellent oil. If not, then you will have to wait for the Honda branded one. Tough luck, you don't want to void the warranty for engine oil

Above is the video of the smoke and it is still the same. There is a lot of oil consumption too and now a new sound has cropped up. Today it will be sent to the showroom.
