Re: Honda CBR 250R
That's better. I believe, they at least have some sort of process and a department to handle this. In last many services of my bikes, I have never experienced this.Originally posted by Mail2vasant View PostI always get a call from SVC after any visit to them. Although is sounds more like a formality than concern. The usual question- Sir, is your bike running fine? If yes then ok else they ask me to give them a visit.
I think, we should start a different thread to discuss HMSI service and guidelines. Start a petition to make them survey and audit for quality and satisfaction.
We also need to ask for their guidelines which is given to svc stations. What's criteria laid out for one to start a svc station?
Please bear with me for one more off topic post (following).
I actually find most of mechanics are not up to mark(experience, training or craftsmanship) based on my experience in Kanpur. Bangalore has better quality HMSI svc stations; have lived there, and now I can compare.
Moreover many of these guys won't care about your bike. They would produce scratches, and rub/patch/paint before they deliver so you don't know. If you sit and watch the way they handle your bike, you would get angry and upset; might even find yourself interrupting them quite often to handle things carefully, eventually upsetting them.
I am afraid to give my bike for service, I know something would be surely messed up. I don't have options, can't rely on local mechanics as well.
I have Honda Unicorn (KA registration), it was badly messed up in Kanpur. Instead of replacing fuse, wires were connected directly. I don't know or remember if they charged for fuse; was charged for indicators, mechanics fixed using some glue. I came to know of all these quite late.
I now take pictures of bike (all sections and exterior, and interior whatever I can cover) at svc station before handing it to mechanic. I also spend at least 30 mind doing PDI. I even ask to open things to show me if they really done.
Take your time to verify. That's important. If you don't, it might be too late (some times a year or two) for you to realise a Jugaad (to steal a part, or something - not to benefit you) done by mechanics.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Thats good you check thoroughly before taking bike post service.. A short ride is also helpful..
Some service centers have replaced even radiators for bent fines while pressure washing, but the guy was strong on replacement & got it replaced..
So be hard and make things work in honda svc if something is wrong..

if you are a DIY guy you can do similar stuff for 4-5k...
just for DRL.. millions available on DX.com from 600-2k.. just get DRL and hook them up with the seperate wiring , switch and a fuse...
also did you notice that the night image posted on ebay is on High Beam which looks weird to me with all that focus going on ground..."A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel."

looks expensive to me. The hid + projector should not cost more than 3k. And lets consider 2k for those drls. Still it comes to 5k. Quoting 13k dor this set up is outrageous. Though MXS motorsports has a nice finishing touch to the work which gives a decent look to the set up.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I got first service done on Saturday. Yesterday while test riding, I could feel vibration at low speed and low rpm (4-5k). There were no vibrations before servicing was done.
I also notice some noise from front, seems some loose screw or rivet.
They also sprayed some bad quality lube on chain, it's all black and unevenly spread (looks like grease).
I am aware of sloppy service and incompetence of mechanics here in Kanpur. I don't really have any other option here. However, first service is fairly simple and I expected they at least know to do simple.
What could have changed or done during service that these vibrations started happening?
Are they supposed to check valve as mentioned in manual?
Did you get it checked during first service?
Thanks

Re: Honda CBR 250R
I inspected chain, it was not cleaned, and some poor quality lube was sprayed. It's thick black all over chain, sprocket, side stand and rim.
I also think, chain is loose.
I am unable to sleep, gotta talk to ASC, and the mechanic who serviced the bike.
Any tips what should I check got vibrations? Which lube is good for cbr? They have only out 1 or 1.25 liter engine oil, is that good enough?

if you think chain is loose. the slack should not be more than 10-20 mm if yes then get it tightened.
engine oil needed is 1.5 Litre Full Synthetic.
honda OEM is 10w 30 i gues..
as of now ask them or force them to put only full synthetic oil only.. 1.5 L
as of general my SVC uses Motul or Wurth chain spray.. but one for 100 bucks small bottle and no need to visit SVC..
go through the pages and you'd see my post on DIY for chain cleaning and from many other FM's too
clean the rim by wiping with cotton cloth dipped in diesel
else wahs it off with normal shampoo

Please find the replies in boldOriginally posted by tensor View Post
Which lube is good for cbr?. - Use Motul Chain cleaner (400 ml)/lube(400 ml) (around Rs. 1000 to 1100 for both), get it online if you have paddocks.
NOTE - If paddocks are not availabe with you, it will be little difficult for you to lube the chain by yourself.
I also think, chain is loose. - You could adjust it yourself or you may go to ASC.
Any tips what should I check got vibrations? - Vibrations from plastic parts (Faring/fender loose) or any chasis parts?

Re: Honda CBR 250R
Guys, can anyone throw some light on how you lube the chain if you are travelling and especially when you are alone? Finding a paddock stand at local mech is nearly impossible on the way and the lack of center stand adds to the problem and the weight doesnt help either.
Any ideas of jugaads that work will be really helpful.

Re: Honda CBR 250R
That is a really though thing to do, I try my best not to do lube mid trip, I have not done any long trip on the CBR during monsoons(not yet) so not sure how to handle that.Originally posted by jeevan.life View PostGuys, can anyone throw some light on how you lube the chain if you are travelling and especially when you are alone? But i have seen a product of size similar to a smart phone, that fits in our pocket , its length can be extended and it is fitted somewhere on the swing-arm to raise the tyre off the ground so that we can freely rotate the tyre without having to support the bike.
Not sure of its name, so I guess this information is pretty much useless, but maybe someone else here knows the name or the product in question and might be able to help.
Cheers
ride safe
