    Surprising turn of events...

Yesterday, I sat with the list of all Honda dealers in Delhi and called each one of them the way a tele-caller does to enquire about all colours available with each of them. I was surprised with the result. One dealer had the red one in stock and 5 of them had the black one in stock. I hadn't called any of these earlier as they were all too far away from home/office. I went to the dealer who had the red one immediately, confirmed (thrice...!!!) whether it was actually the new red colour (and ABS only) and booked the bike. He promised delivery today and I rushed to the bank to get the DD made just before the bank closed for the day.

At night, I messaged my friend (who had been with me through the entire process for the last 20 days)
Me: Yaar meri gut feel keh rhi hai ki kal bike ki delivery mein kuch gadbad hone wali hai...
Friend: Kuch nhi hone wala, tu tension na le...
Me: I hope ki kal mil jaaye, aur correct red colour hi mile...pichle 3 hafton mein jo hua hai, to abhi bhi lag rha hai shayad kuch gadbad hogi...
Friend: Mil jaayegi sahi bike, sab theek hoga...

Today morning, I got a call from the showroom, confirming that the bike is here and it'll be ready in 1 hour. The excitement level went sky high, but I still tried not to show it (woh kehte hain na, dhol zaada peetne se fatt jaata hai). We went to the dealer in the afternoon and saw the red, black and repsol colours displayed inside the showroom.

That first look at the 3 bikes and me and my friend look at each other. We didn't speak for a minute, but our eyes conveyed the message to each other.

The black one stood apart. The red one looked beautiful, no doubt, but the black one was beyond that.

The guys at the showroom had got the red one ready for delivery, it was polished and ready to be taken out. I asked them if the change in colour was possible, and they were extremely accomodating. I finalised the black one, got the exhaust muffler changed (it had scratches), and it took 2 hours to get the black one ready, polished, and for the paperwork to be done and we were out with it.

Here are some pics of the bike.

Who could've thought... After struggling with a dealer for more than 3 weeks, I finally found the bike that I was looking for.

The 40km ride home was exciting to say the least. I will write a small initial ride experience a little later.

Thanks to all the Xbhp friends who have advised, helped, motivated and been there all the time. Your support has been important through this experience and I hope it continues for good times to come...

    Thanks again...

Congrats Raghav and welcome to club. Exactly, same thing happened to me. I booked black-silver bike and when I went to take delivery, the tri-color version stole my heart..lol.. and after that it has been a good, long 19000kms with her. I still fall in love with her whenever I take her out.

I know she will ask you to twist your right wrist often but check yourself to make sure the RPM needle doesn't goes over 5k. Once in a while going over it is fine. Introduce yourself to your bike and get a feel of her for first few kms.

Ride safe and enjoy every km with he new babe.

Hope to see you at xbhp dhaba some sunday.

While I was riding home from the showroom yesterday, it was pushing me to twist the throttle. I noticed that it suddenly picks up speed post 3000rpm, its a little tricky below that. I need to spend some time to get used to the clutch-throttle combination at low speeds. I didn't cross 4k rpm and it rode well at speeds of 50kmph.

I'll surely try and attend one of the upcoming meets. Thanks a lot...

            Thanks...

It had to be the ABS model, there were no two thoughts about it. I waited for it for such a long time. In the end, it is patience that paid off...

I recently picked a CBR 250 Std, got the first service done at 740 kms, today while riding I felt there is slight smell of burning. It was not very sharp but I am just curious is this normal?

slight burning smell is normal for new engines.. happens . keep a watch on temp gauge and check if any rubber or any debris is stuck near engine or hot parts..

I was careful about the helmet on the tank. I made sure that the inside cushion of the helmet came in contact with the tank. No scratches luckily, and i agree that it'll need extra care.

                  Tell me something...
                  1. Should i fix the tank pad myself or get it done by someone? I also want to put something on the exhaust muffler because the material it is built of is extremely prone to scratches. Do we have something for the muffler?
                  2. How long should the ABS light stay on in the instrument panel?
                  3. While taking delivery, I asked the mechanic at the showroom whether the chain has been lubed. He said that it was done before the bike was brought to the showroom. By the looks of it, the chain looks dry. I'm new to this, how do I confirm?

ABS indeed is a very good investment, keeping in mind the pathetic roads and road users in our country.

Absolutely. In fact most dealers, who didn't have the colour available in ABS, tried to convince me to buy the STD model. But in my mind I had decided that it had to be the ABS one, for its absolutely worth it.

Sure. Would love to catch up. CBR is agreat bike. The only negative point is the service centres. I didn't find them competent enough. You can catch me at the xbhp dhaba on almost all sunday mornings. Just type in xbhp dhaba in google maps and you will get the direction.
