Generally any washing person won't keep water force on instruments or switches for more than a sec or won't even apply it there.
if he does then make sure he doesn't do it.

Mostly when bike is washed at SVC later they dry it with blower, which throws out any dew/water in the switches etc....

Don't worry mate!!
What about a home wash ?. I use pipe water to clean bike first then apply shampoo and wash it. If some sort of water is being sprayed over instruments / switches for few seconds will I need to dry that by blower (homestyle hair dryer)

Don't spray water directly over switches and petrol tank cap. Wash them with a wet rag and dry them with with another rag of cloth. You'd need to dry the whole bike in shade in case you plan to detail it as well. For quick drying, parking in shade + cloth helps.
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Unless the drain pipe is clogged, even water over the petrol tank cap does not go into the tank.
For detailing, use a soft water soaking towel or MF to dry the bike. If the water is allowed to sun-dry, it'll leave water spots which are harder to remove if there is hard water in one's area.
One can do a waterless/rinseless wash with ONR or UWW, but I prefer a wash once in a while with a good automotive shampoo to keep the bike shiny.
Also use microfibre mitts to avoid scratching the paint finish.
The steps are all covered in the detailing thread, but for the benefit of those who don't follow it (and want to keep their bikes shiny ).

1) Wash with a good automotive shampoo (not normal shampoo) (or use a rinseless/waterless wash). If you use UWW or ONR, skip step 2 since you will have dried it out with a microfibre.
2) Dry with a good chamois (Highly absorbent soft cloth, since the leather type isn't readily available). If not, use a clean towel.
3) If you need to remove swirls, now is the time, else proceed to
4) Wax all the painted areas - do not use wax on non painted areas/dashboard/bumper. Use a foam applicator, and clean with a good quality microfibre once the wax has hazed.
5) Use protectant spray for the windshield, speedo console etc. Do not apply it on the seat or levers/grips as it's slippery.
6) Admire the shine

There is a lot more that goes on in the process, of course, you can use a scratch remover to remove scratches, or a milder compound to remove swirls. Keep in mind not to use those too often as you can risk stripping the paint down.

I previously owned a P220F and now owning a CBR250r. Power wise, you might not "feel" big difference, but there is difference. CBR is not for outright acceleration. It is for a relax and comfortable ride/tour.

Although CBR is NOT for mad acceleration, the place of P220 is in the rear view mirror of CBR 250 if you race/drag in highways.

got a cbr 250r sports red yesterday. an impulsive decision it is, but hope i don't regret my decision. the delivery was immediate. no booking, no hassles, fresh out of the new bikes from godown. was washed and polished. first ride felt very good, but was just about 5km. had the puja done at ganesh temple here. it is at present at a friend's house @Sandeep Patnala, since i am scared how my mom would react. going for a 80km ride today. will post my initial impressions thereafter.

I got my bikes front tyre changed to michelin as well last week and travelled close to 400plus km after that, the biggest difference i found was the tyre sticks to the road much much better than contis, on many occasions i found my self leaning the bike on twists and turns with great confidence which i personally was scared to do with contis, but i think contis can withstand much more abuse as compared to michelin. Also did a lonavala-mahabaleshwar-lonavala run, checked the F.E on a tankful to tankful basis, got an average of 37.2kmpl.

Hello,

I have almost finalized the CBR has the next bike for me. Now is debate is if the 30K extra for the ABS is worth the money.

Can all folks who purchased the CBR recently post their all incl costs incurred. It will help potential buyer like me analyse and check if the best price is being quoted by the showroom.
If anyone does not wish to write here. please PM me the details. thank you.

An abs could come into play very rarely but when it does, consider that it saved your back. So, for the price I believe its well worth it.

It has saved my life a couple of times and I know that the situation would have been otherwise if not for abs.

ABS or NO ABS is very debatable scenario...
Why don't you answer some Questions ?

1. How will you ride on highways/street roads when you see gravels or sand on your path ?
2. How would you like to ride while it's raining ??
3. If it's a wet patch so what will you think of it ?? a water patch or a possibility of oily patch ??

I hope you will be knowing what ABS does.

In oct 2011 i had booked a non abs cbr ,i still remember that particular day got a call from the dealer to come and check the bike, reached the showroom all excited and was about to take a test ride....the bike started and then it stalled abruptly, umpteen attempts were made by the mechanics to start the bike but it just refused to start, fortunately for me the registration was not completed and lack of a black color in stock ensured that the wait was going to be long or i go for a ABS model, eventually i settled for the ABS model, now after riding the bike close to 11000 km i can remember at least 3 occasions when ABS bailed me out of tight situations and am extremely satisfied with the decision. To check the functioning of ABS i had tried all sorts of stunts but when i was faced with the real situation all i remember is slamming the brake hard with heart in my mouth rest was taken care by ABS.....so buddy the decision is yours.

Thank you for the response and kinda subtly hinting that ABS is a must. . I think I would rather save up and get the ABS than go for non abs. What worries me is that saving will take at least a month more and by that time if they release the Honda CBR 300(or even leak the dates), there will be more confusion.

Rarest of rare cases....my front brake hose is bust! Brake fluid spilled all over (thankfully no spills on painted surfaces) and front brakes dead. Left my vehicle at the service today morning alongwith instructions to get the exhaust shield dented/painted. Now watch the fun!

2 hours later I get a call from the service guys:

HSS: Sir, your exhaust shield is dented beyond repair, it can't be painted.
Me: Ok, leave it and complete other tasks.
(hang up)

Two minutes later...

HSS: Sir, we will fit new exhaust shield for you.
Me: How much?
HSS: Nine hundred something
Me: No thank you, put my old shield back.
(hand up)

Again, five minutes later:
HSS: Sir, we can't fit old shield, the clamp is broken.
Me: (angry) What the hell...who asked you to mess around with it?
HSS: Sir, we will give you new shield for 600
Me: (WTF!!!!) Make it 400
HSS: 400 not possible sir, last 600
Me: Ok go ahead.

Now, that's the most effing, weirdest, yet hilarious thing I ever came across.
First, in all probability, they broke my exhaust shield before the first call itself.
Second, they try to con me with inflated rates,
and third, since they don't have the option to fit back the original part, they put across a fictitious "offer" of a lower price.
(I remember theironhorse99 stating that the exhaust shield was priced at around 600)

Conmen!!!

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!
