I noticed a peculiar behavior with my fuel indicator. That is, when I filled my tank to the inner plate, then I realized the error in my reading. My friend's console was showing full 6 bars, mine was only showing 4-5 bars, though the amount of fuel we put in the tank was the same. Even after riding for sometime my bar was 4 max.
So this indicates that the float inside the tank is bust, because if the lcd was defective, it would not even show the bars even intermittently.
Thus the question is this, is the float inside is replaceable or the whole tank has to go? And if so, is it claimable under warranty?

If its under warranty they will have to replace it... do it on priority before warranty runs out

        • CBR250R Heating.

          Hi,

          I recently (04-10-2013) bought a CBR250R Repsol Replica.
During the Run-in Period I ran below RPM 5000 and changed Engine oil to Mineral oil at 400Kms and changed the oil filter too.

At exactly 1000Kms, I gave it for First service and changed oil to Motul 5100 (Semi Synthetic) oil with oil filter change. After first service I started revving up to 6000, 7000 RPM and nowadays I see lot of heat coming. Especially I am feeling the heat on my left foot (Gear Lever). And also when I wait in the signals I feel lot of heat coming out of the fairing gaps (From the radiator).

Is this behavior normal, I feel the heat is bit more (Compared to before the first service). I checked the oil level which is fine. Checked the coolant level and that also is fine.

          Normal Operation Behavior:
The coolant temperature gauge starts with 0 Bars and when I start riding I goes up to 3 and stops there (Never crossed above 3 bars). Also when I ride a long distance and come to halt the radiator fan run for about 3 minutes and stops. My doubt is even when the coolant level is good and the coolant temperature shows normal, is it possible that the engine temperature is going above the limit. Say a possible block/partial block in the coolant flow? I ride to office (30Kms) at morning 7AM when the temperature is very cool and very less traffic, I don't feel too much heat. But in the evening I leave office at 5PM when the temperature is normal and little more traffic I feel lot of heat.

          Please help me.

            hi guyz,
what do you think is a good price for a Jan 2013 CBR250R non-ABS Black-Silver with 7800kms on the odometer? Second owner , but the vehicle is in good condition. No other mods. The bike also has extended warranty for 4yrs.

How does 1.02 lakhs sound? high /low/ok?

Man, that sounds like a good deal i guess, the 2013 models non-abs cost 1.70 L on road. This looks like a ridiculous offer. Do make sure the bike is in good condition, i mean , get it checked with a mech.

Welcome!. Your description of normal behavior looks OK. If there is a block in coolant flow, the temp indicator would have shown above 3 bars. It is normal to feel more heat
in the evening. By the way "feeling" depends upon what you wear, old experience, environ and traffic etc. I never "felt" any heat worth mentioning.
Looks like you babied your CBR. There is no need to limit the RPM under 5K rpm (I don't know from where this 5K rpm limit is coming from). CBR comes to life only after 5K RPM. I think, with this your run-in may not be complete yet.
Now, that your CBR is seeing 5K up - it may be heating a bit more - but still the bar shows only 3. You can take it to ASC and check once.
Instead of limiting the RPM, I wait for atleast 30seconds or first bar to appear before starting of. Anyway it is up to you.

                        Hi All,

I presently own a Race concepts souped GS 150R. Looking for an upgrade on my bike. Got KTM 390 and CBR 250R on my mind. Budget is around 1.8 so I wont be able to take the CBS version. Need some help from fellow riders and owners on some of my queries.

                        1. How comfortable is the pillion seat. Has anyone taken their mums to local shops for purchases? Any complaints?
                        2. Riders of Blore, in the current traffic situation, travelling approx 30 Km a day through city and ring road, how much FE is realistic.
                        3. How good is the head light on this bike? At nights is it sufficient or any mod is needed?
                        4. Any niggling issues I should be worried about? Heard the new CBR's come with MRF tires. Any issues with that?
                        5. ABS VS no ABS. Does it make a big difference to stopping distance. I don't want reply on the safety as I know nothing beats an ABS.
                        6. Cost of a paid service?
                        7. Best service center in Blore, anyone person who can be approached to talk to? I tried the show room, but the sales people honestly are woefully ignorant.

Just some of the questions on my mind. Looking forward to chatting with you. I had a test ride already. Eyeing the ALL RED 2013 CBR non ABS. Please advice.

Seat height apart, not much complaints

28-30 KPL in city consistently, under normal riding conditions. 33-37 KPL on highways.

                          3. How good is the head light on this bike? At nights is it sufficient or any mod is needed?

It's a matter of personal choice. See if the stock lights suits you fine. if not, there are a plethora of options to upgrade

                          4. Any niggling issues I should be worried about? Heard the new CBR's come with MRF tires. Any issues with that?

Some people complain about the lack of grip on the ContiGos. I have Contigos, but no complaints so far. MRF is definitely better.

                          5. ABS VS no ABS. Does it make a big difference to stopping distance. I don't want reply on the safety as I know nothing beats an ABS.

ABS does not make a difference in the stopping distance. Repeat: DOES NOT make a difference in STOPPING DISTANCE. it only prevents skidding of tyres on wet/slippery surfaces - hence a lot safer than conventional brakes.

                          6. Cost of a paid service?

technically it does reduce stopping distance too. if you need to come to a stop in wet conditions without skidding/falling off, then without ABS you will definitely need more stopping distance compared to braking with ABS - the same is true even under dry conditions especially when at higher speeds.

What you have mentioned sound correct. And that is what I expected. ABS moderates the brakes so that you don't skid. Hence, it should take a little more distance to brake, as braking is not direct. I asked the question as I wanted a CBR rider to comment on the difference.

I visited Haiku Honda. Went for a test ride. Bike was hopeless. Extreme handle bar and visor vibration. Also slow pick up. They don't have ready stock of RED NON ABS CBR 250, which I am eyeing. First said that it will take 10-12 days to get one. When I told them that a Honda showroom in koramangala have a ready piece available and will pick up from there, I was told that these guys will arrange for it in 2-3 days, if I book it. No need to go there. Wow, very surprised. I have been quoted 1.90(1,88,481 base price) which includes - Extended warranty. 1294 was quoted additionally for "accessories" which was told can be given for some discount.

Is it correct price? Anyone get it for a cheaper price recently?

Honda website says on road = "

I checked the base price in chennai last week for the abs version, Rs. 190*** & for non abs, Rs. 172***
