  • Re: Honda CBR 250R

Guys Visited didar, maanasarovar, KUN, svm, Jsp honda showrooms in chennai.

The following were the replies for the query regarding cbr250r abs black.
Didar T nagar : only red n tricolor(std) available. One month waiting for black.
Jsp Anna nagar : same as didar but black can be arranged in 2 weeks.
Kun adyar : they seemed less interested on sale of a 250r and were not polite. They had tricolor, repsol, red.
Maanasarovar velachery : have all colors except repsol.
Svm : best experience out of this list. The sales guy was very polite and explained all the charges clearly. They have all the models too.

Lastly, I checked the chassis no. on the cbr and deciphered the manufacture date as said by aargee sir. Found out that cbr manufactured this month were also equipped with contigo tyres 😕

Will this make a significant change in handling.

      Thx !!
Motul will be available at normal spare part shops.

why Disc replacement ??? that must be like 3k odd.. you can get it polished again if the damage is not too much.
disc replacement not needed ideally till 40k km.. that too for rear it should be more...

      3. Where did you source the steel braided lines from and the petal discs and how much did both( the brakes and discs) cost individually??

I am planning to carry on the same mods on my babe. So your suggestion would be valuable.

Also if you can give your input on the difference in braking after installing brake lines and discs, it would really be great.

stock chainset ( chain + F & R sprocket ) will be 1800 odd with fitting will come down to 2200

i am going with stock as of now. Next month friend coming from US so getting a 15 T front instead of 14T stock to reduce the cruising rpm.
cheap mod of more FE for hypermiling at 30$

IRC + Dunlop is pretty good . dunlop is better than conti's and IRC at front is really really good.
dunlop being more curvy is good at cornering and dosent scare like the conti's above that my conti has similar issue of wearing out in wavy pattern which made it wobbly during turns at high speed.

steel braided lines coming from US through the same route i will be changing only front as investing money for rear will not be VFM as per my dictionary.

petal disc is still in plans. sooner or later.. lets see..

rest adding a brisk racing flat head spark plug. basically multi-point. not sure if it will be good or bad . can only test and confirm.

Thanks for the concern bro, I am much better now, not much except a swollen foot. Couldn't note the number though...but still be wary of all black Swifts in my locality

Bro, how much did they charge for the coneset and where was it available? I am looking to replace my coneset but City and Haiku don't have it in stock. Damn, they don't even have a 10A fuse in stock! Pathetic!

dont worry the lady will be fixed.. if you havent done many km's like less than 10k .. coneset change wont be needed it needs a servicing. bsacilly open it and regrase it well.
you will be good for another 7k odd else replacement kit cost around 1500 and with labour will come down to 1800rs total.
honda has increase prices as last time like in march we got coneset changed and the part cost was 1200 bucks.

check above... and disk pad for rear is 800 and disk pad of front is 840 change.. racer set and coneset and charra katori is one and the same thing. racer set a.k.a ball racer kit.

Had taken my bike to service centre for handle alignment issues I had been experiencing. Also came to know about knocking problem due to shim and piston rings noise. All repairs done under warranty with total bill of rs 600 for coolant and gasket. at Vihaan Honda, Thane. Bike now feels smoother till redline with no clatter anywhere.

Recently did a 600 kms + trip with pillion and bags. CBR surprised me with superb pull everywhere, managing to reach 132kph with more to spare. Will be posting a short trip log withpics soon.

          Update on tyre issue.

Today Honda Engineers from Bangalore are at the Svc, so they have asked me to bring the bike for inspection. So that they can certify that the tyre abnormal wear and collapse is not because of any faulty part of the bike. Once that is certified, the svc will approach continental once more for the warranty claim.

          Will keep you guys posted.

Wow, that looks comfy for sure. I was long in dilemma about some seat mods to deal with longer rides - especially for the pillion. I had been to the extent of contemplating Airhawk and Corbin seats. Now this is a brilliant idea and the finished seat should definitely feel fine. Only change I can think of is keeping only two supports instead of four supports for the rider (similar to the pillion).

Thanks for the tip bro, I will get it examined tomorrow (hopefully - the Honda guys suddenly seem to have turned very arrogant over the past few weeks!). The bike has become really wobbly and I have lost all confidence in braking/cornering.

Thx for the answer, anyways I believe the damage was more and got the disc and disc pads replaced. Also got new chain sprocket. The mechanic even showed me the damaged parts, rear bearing, cone was all bad and balls inside the bearing were crushed. Now my bike is smooth and there is slight improvement in handling

bro thats the same situation i am dealing with.. bike was wobbly... then chanegd both tyres.. solved half of the problem.. but now at chainset and coneset are due for replacement.. anything above 70 kmph is wobbly.. add a pillion and it becomes a crappy bike.. severe wobbles. dosent feel planted and severe wrist pains which are temporary, hard handling and numb palms...

can you share source for 15T sprocket as before asking a friend to get it i was trying to source from thailand.. the cost was ok but the shipping was a turn off..

Yes two support on rider seat will be perfectly fine. 4 support were designed to create channels for ventilation, but i think it will not work for rider seat. for ventilation which is also important you can use 3d airmesh fabric seat cover similar to thisClick image for larger version

Hey, I too have similar wobble issue but for me, it is only at say 70-80 Kmph anything above and below is fine. Are you facing similar issue.

for me it starts at 65 kmph + as my chainset is done and has an uneven slack which causes that obbly feeling along with that knocked coneset is also adding up

just get that part cleaned and rubber a bit and add custom sticker over it .. brown colour. else look for OEM honda sticker. will be difficuly but if you order at a particular SVC and bug them a bit they will get it. for just a small thing no point going for a replacement. however if you have zero dip insurance you can get few parts replaced but keep in mind. next year premium will increase accordingly.

Clean up that section thoroughly, remove the bits that are poking out with a blade.
Then get a similar color sticker from a sticker shop, cut it to the required dimensions and paste it...

Finally booked a black 250r with abs at maanasarovar in velachery.
They took me to the service bay where one black cbr was. I guess it was a display piece as all the covers were clearly removed and had a lot of scratches.
Then asked them to take me to the storage shed in porur. They were kind enough to take me there.
I was made to select between 3 CBRs all had contigos.
Checked the chassis no. and found out that they were manufacture in November (9th & 10th letter were KD).
Finally selected one which had almost nil scratches except one on the right clip on weight balance which I asked them to replace.
Made a note of the chassis no. and asked them to keep that bike separately.
They asked me to pay 50K today, but told them it'll be made tomo due to bank limits.

So now my hunt for new tyre starts.
Chennai riders, can you point to some good tyre dealers who have stock cbr size?
